This is the way I do squares after watching you do it. Have honestly learnt so much from you since I started in May. Thank you for posting another great tip!
This is actually one of my favorite techniques to watch you do. I use a multiplacer for large sections of the same color, so I don't usually do it myself. But I like the way they look when you do it. Thank you so much for sharing!
I used to do the checkerboard method but after watching you for awhile I started doing this step method and my placement has really improved! Thank you for sharing your experience with us all! 😍
I'm working on a 40x50 square Christmas Teddy tree at the moment and its full of confetti so not much stepping going on but i do use it in blocks of colour.
I am left handed and for me to see what I am doing. I start at the bottom right. Like I said I can see everything I am doing. Going from left to right. I am blind trying to see what I am doing. So bottom right going right to Left and I am left handed
I love this idea for squares. I'll try it on my next painting. Quick question. Do the tips of your glue dots in your pens dry out when you go to use them the next day? Most, not all, seem to do that. I pinch a tiny piece off and I'm good, but I find it strange. I keep them in my gallon zip lock bag, sealed with everything else in using on the painting. Any suggestions for me?
Mine do some days. It seems to depend on the moisture in the air I think. It's getting better now we're heading towards winter here. I just take the dots out and put them back in and off I go again.
Sadly the shops that print canvases correctly for the step method to work are few and far between. Dac, dreamer designs, diamond dots…..all these print the canvas a hair larger than the 2.5 mm of a square drill. They are so scared of popping drills. Diamond painting Deutschland prints the perfect sized canvas.

Love the step method! Quicker than checkerboard!
That's so cool, I'll try that one! 😊
I like doing large spaces on mine this way too.
Great tip. 💛😀🌻☕️🌟
Thanks I like the step way thank you for another great tip
Confetti would be hard to use this method, it looks so nice to do!

The step method is my favorite that I learned from you.

Hi Rebecca, I am having difficulty dealing with clumped drills when I work with the squares. Any advice would be appreciated.
If you have clumped drills then check out this video: th-cam.com/video/lw-7CjkLJBI/w-d-xo.html
