  • One of the newest features of this #NASCAR season is the larger pit guns on pit road to accompany the new single lug nut wheels in the Cup Series. No. 4 rear tire changer Daniel Smith breaks down the difference between last year's pit gun and this year's pit gun.

    I had no idea they even changed, it’s interesting. I sort of miss the old sound of multiple lug nuts coming off/going on though to be honest.

    These single-lug hubs make pit stops faster and it also means that NASCAR is evolving and catching up to other motorsports. Awesome work on this vid, SHR! 👍

    Always wondered how you guys could keep up with 5 nuts that fast, had a friend ask and I felt glueing em on pre race was probably the most logical so that’s what I told him. Took a year but I finally know I didn’t lie

    Excellent video.
    As an ole fan,, I actually want to know these nuances to the sport.
    Keep all that drama crap on the TV shows, I like seeing cool stuff like this.
    Any chance you guys need Clint back?? I'm tired of listening to him. PLEASE!!!

    What happens when you cross thread the hub? Do you have a nut that creates new threads?

      Valtteri bottas found out in Monico last year. This is more similar to f1 wheel guns now

      But if you cross thread I’m sure the nut would strip and force a retirement.

      You can't use the Dp 7000 Hurican paoli ?
      It's because you still have the jack man and you don't need faster gun?

    how do you keep the gun in place when it applies the 600lb/ft of torque? You can't be holding it right? I think I've seen some guys (non-Nascar) that have two arms that lock on to the wheel to keep the gun in place.

    Looks like the tire changer picked off a piece of burning rubber and tossed it into the spilled fuel. Hard to see since it goes so fast

      @Virtuaalipepe ปีที่แล้ว

      Big enough thread and enough speed and power! First part of the thread takes some damage once in a while but it will find its way in!

    600lb/ft is nuts!
