It's before the timeline represented (1990) but Days of Thunder on the NES had cool pitstops. You actually had to control the crew members yourself, so it was up to you whether you had a quick stop or not. I was awful at it, but still my favorite part of that game and never really seen anything like it since.
Like a minigame for the pits? I'm going to look like a freak, but Pixar's Cars on the PS2 had that. That was a game that had no right being as fun as it was.
'94 always felt the best to me because you had control of the car through the whole pit lane (though maintaining the speed limit with a digital button was agony); I only wished that your box would be other than the first one sometimes. The car being on autopilot down pit road and the AI doing nothing but following each other in one massive single line for the entire race was what put me off of the later NASCAR games.
@@Dat-Mudkip I know that the EASports NASCAR 2007, for PS2, still had crew members (such as the jackman) who would trip/fall. And I think possibly a tire changer might occasionally drop a lug nut and have to pick it up before installing it. That was the final video game I played/owned.
nr2003 has the best pit stops hands down. Not only were the pit crews animated, but the entire stop was manually controlled. Meaning if you stopped too close to the wall, you can't get your tires changed on that side. If you're not stopped in the center of your stall, your crew can't change the tires in unison, adding time to the stop. If you rolled too far or didn't come far enough, the crew can't start service on your car until you're in the stall proper. You actually had to do a pit stop. Like all the Papy NASCAR titles, but nr2003 was the magnum opus before the dev team got started on iRacing. None of that "get to pit road speed before the line and the game takes over" crap. Just like an actual driver, the effectiveness of a pit stop mostly depended on you. I get that such a level of realism doesn't appeal to everyone... but then, we shouldn't be having a discussion about pit stops for the "casual" players, should we?
iracing was made by the developers of nr2003. they were called papyrus games back then, but now they’re just called iracing. they’re still the same developers, though. basically, iracing’s pit stops worked the same exact way
Around '99-07, (I don't recall which year), the basic EASports NASCAR game (@ least for PS1) used Sweet Home Alabama one year. And Magic Carpet Ride for another. At least I think it was during that time period.
NASCAR 21: Ignition, has one of the best pitstops but the entry and exit are way too slow, and the repair still hasn't improved that much it's just animations they don't actually cut off pieces or do anything the animations showed. Also, sometimes it's not just one person repairing the car and the repairs are pretty slow it seems.
Bill Elliott's NASCAR Challenge from 1990 should have been in here. You have crew members coming out, doing whatever you tell them to do (even cleaning your windshield!) and unlike Papyrus games, your stall isn't necessarily the first one. Also, pit road speed limits weren't a thing yet, and instead of holding a sign over the wall, someone was standing in front of your stall with your number board. And if you overshot your pit, you might run him over!
I use to play Nascar Thunder 2003 on PC and i only go to the pit stop only to refill Gas without changing tires Like what Lighting McQueen did from the first Cars movie
I just randomly found this video for the first time. I'm glad the viewers were amused by the Mr. Clean crew from my Chase for the Cup gameplay (specifically it was taken from my second channel)
Nascar 98. First nascar game I ever played. Never will forget when I completed a 500 lap Bristol race with the 2nd place guy being like 30 laps down. Jeremy mayfield in the 37 was always the slowest car he may of been 100 laps down lol
I just brought nascar 2005 chase for the cup for PS2 and nascar thunder 2004 for original Xbox the other day and i think they are pretty good, i was never into em growing up cause i was always into street racing and sports, im actually starting to get more into now, i do have nascar heat 5 and 21 ignition for series X, great games
I thought iRacing was built from the ground up... But the UI, Radio and other small pieces from the 2003 clip is making me think I found the actual root of the game
In these mid-late 2000 and early 2010 titles, what made a good pit sequence was the cinematics. It really adds to the intensity of a pit stop. The best pitstop is clearly from NASCAR Racing 1994. So realistic. Crazy they had this back in the early '90s.
Nascar 21 takes the top prize for the most realistic pits. And the worst part is that I still haven't bought it! What the hell am I waiting for? Great video! 💪
I would imagine as AIs improve in the future, there will be pit action to match whatever condition or damage the car acquires over the race... Even the hood will come up if there's serious engine problems to address!
Which NASCAR game had the most realistic pit stop?
Nascar 21: Inition 2021
nah
@@none308 The car in the ground is pretty realistic
Nascar racing 1994
werkfest and forza
i like how in nascar 2005 chase for the cup the pitcrew is mister clean
Lol
And Spider-Man in Nascar 2000
It was a cheat card you could unlock, they didn't make a mistake was their perk.
That’s what I was about to say!
@@Nrl612 I was thinking that the same hahahaha
5:10 I never thought I would witness an army of Mr Clean as a pit crew
I like the idea of pressing buttons to make your stop time lower, it kind of makes sense
How about the idea that instead of an Atari mechanic, you just control the car all the way through.
@Achronic Deth ahh yes, Nintendo 63, my childhood console
@@eclark9965 In NASCAR games that are made by Papyrus from 1994 to 2003, you can actually drive your car into the pit road.
@@FRONTI3R_yt i am aware. People from those games ended up starting iracing
@2:11 Spider-Man throwing that fuel can like it wasn’t sh*t 🤣 😂. Something tells me NASCAR would frown upon that.
Someone did that irl and they got penalized lmao
I spent hours playing Nascar Racing 1994. So nostalgic seeing that pitstop.
The Pitstop seem more realistic if you had the view from inside the car
@@joemckie3498 you had to actually drive into the pits yourself and hit your box too, so yeah was pretty realistic
Same feeling here. And the thought that Im so old!
Burik
1996 has the fondest childhood memories. "Watch your speed, watch your speed". Annoying crew chief but so memorable.
5:11 lol getting a pitstop from MR Clean!!!!1 IM DYING
12:25
The fact that the guys are like
"Not our problem until u get in the right spot"
However, I do like the fact that the one tire changer was given the helmet cam...

My cousin had that game and I was so bad at it I didn't play another nascar game till 2001.
Like a minigame for the pits? I'm going to look like a freak, but Pixar's Cars on the PS2 had that. That was a game that had no right being as fun as it was.

😂

Driving for myself in NR2003 and iRacing honestly just makes the whole experience that much better for me
In nascar thunder 2004 your pit crew can make a mistake which lose some time on a normal routine stop.
Just like in Nr2003
Its also applied to NT2003
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that was still a feature as late as NASCAR '06.

iracing was made by the developers of nr2003. they were called papyrus games back then, but now they’re just called iracing. they’re still the same developers, though. basically, iracing’s pit stops worked the same exact way
Good thing they invented visible pit stop crew in 1999, imagine going to the pit stop and not realizing you hit the car jack operator
NASCAR 98 was my favorite growing up. I can still here the song, flirting with disaster.

The entire Nascar 21 game is screwed up . If players ain't having to deal with glitches , they're having to deal without a rearview mirror .
That entire game is a piece of junk. Worst Nascar game in history.
Waste of money I switched to f1
That game should be free it's pretty much useless anymore as this an offline wreck fest you can't even play it online any more
"Alright we're doing 4 tires, fuel, taking out a round of wedge, and then beat the hell out of the car with a sledge!"
NR2003 is the GOAT of NASCAR simulators. The physics, pitstops, and the depth is just perfect
Yeah the pits were nothing but a 2d sprite in the original NASCAR but man was that game a lot of fun.
Apparently Nascar 99 was running single lugs on all 4 tires over 2 decades before NASCAR did
I still have my Nascar Racing disk from 1994. I love that Papyrus went on to make the most popular racing sim with iRacing. They've come a long way.
The jump from 94 to 96 is huge!
I love how for NASCAR 09 they're all either wearing BMX helmets or racing helmets!
5:04 There's no way that the game has a group of Mr. Clean's changimg your tires 😂
I like how detailed the nascar 21 ignition was
Too bad nascar 21 was a total bust and waste of money

I wanna see the evolution of crashes in nascar games
5:12 they're all vin diesel lol
They're supposed to be Mr Clean lol. Daytona USA 2 did something similar with the pit crew dressed up as Pirates.
The 2004 game looks much more dynamic
2:00, when the Spider-Men of the multiverse are your pit crew.
uh why did they bring in the cement saw? It was only used in like one race back in 2016 and immediately banned by nascar
Why not lol?
Damn whoever that rear wheel gunman in 2021 is strong as hell, he ripped it off with three lug nuts still on the wheel
5:19 Is Mr clean pit crew a mod? Or is that really what the pit crew looked like for that game? 😂😂😂
I think he didn’t put some sponsors to his pit crew and that’s why LOL
It's a Thunder plate you unlock in the game 🎮 still It's really funny. That Mr. Clean Clones are fixing your car.
5:05 is legendary motorsports
They just reused the sounds since inside line 💀
Bro nascar dirt to Daytona damage model and physics always felt like I was actually smashing into everyone in the pack it felt so meaty

5:04 I guess Mister Clean got a new job as a NASCAR pit crew.
If I had to give an award for the most randomness pit stop crew on any video game Mr clean Get set award it's still funny to see every time
In NASCAR the people where looking like spiderman😅😅

Is it just me, or is the pit crew in "Nascar 2005: Chase for the Cup" made up completely of the Mr. Clean guy.
Sad that the late 90’s to mid 2000’s the damage graphics were way better than todays crap. Time to find a new developer
lol the swift's car 89 i like it
NASCAR 94’ got me crying because I actually thought the thumbnail was fake
12:50 Kyle said one too many bad things about his pit crew.
NASCAR 2000 looks like Spider-Men changing the tires.
Pretty sure Nascar thunder on PS has a different animation with just a simple circling camera
2001 is lowkey REALLY good

Legendary game
1:06 Very emotional
5:05 mr clean racing team
Jeff Gordan is the famous Nascar Racer
the Nascar 2000, we can see that they took real persons to do the animations
they need to bring back nascar 2000 pit stops!!
NASCAR chase for the cup I just heard mr.clean me.clean playing in my head
I did one challenge in Nascar Thunder 2003. I call it No Tire Change, just refuel and Damage repair
you gotta try that
How do you get the pit crew to start in the original 1994 game?
They do it for themselves
Kyle Busch(Rowdy) was outside the box.
IKR
21 ignition has some potential I think
It kinda is
Lighting is key for everything. And with advancements in designing with nurbs will change the games.....
