Thanks for the video. I cleaned the back roller first hoping it would fix the issue, but it looks like it could be more involved. As mine is an old unit, rather than chase the problem, I think it is far easier to buy a new one. Thanks again though for your very informative video. Not too many people would go to that effort to try and help people, help themselves. Much appreciated.
Thank you so much for this video mate! I struggle with hardware at the best of times but following this video I managed to repair my old printer which had been sitting unused for years. You've probably saved me a lot of time and money and I applaud you for it.
thanks a million for this video. I will try and repair it myself but seeing it took you almost 40 minutes, if I can't do it myself I'm better off buying a new printer...a professional will charge me the same amount.
Thanks a lot! I rescued my Printer with the help of your Video, the spring was the problem. Greetings from Bavaria, germany…150Km away from „Oktoberfest“ 😅
Who knew a tiny, weakened spring could make a $400 printer useless? I probably could have pulled the printer apart myself but without this clip I'd have had no idea what the fix was as there is nothing to see. So thanks Terry! I measured the spring when I got it out and it was 9.8mm. After I stretched it, it was 11 mm. That’s all it takes! (Grip the spring in the jaws of a digital calliper, open the jaws slowly until the spring falls out and that’s the measurement.) I would add couple of things I learnt along the way. If it's a multi function unit, take the top cover unit off first. It only takes less than a minute but otherwise it will flap about and drive you nuts - and possibly damage itself. Also, I don’t think it was mentioned; before starting work, remove the toners and most importantly, the waste toner container. I didn’t and ended up with a “Replace Waste Toner Container” message because the toner had fallen down and blocked up the sight windows when I turned the printer over to work on it. Also, to take the armature off the solenoid to check the little pad, I found I had to take the solenoid mounting screw out and lift the solenoid up a little but that’s no big deal. Apart from that, brilliant!
Thanks for the video! In my case I was lazy and I could see the double white gear you refer to as the clutch from the bottom of the machine with the paper tray removed, so I sprayed it generously with Inox (a lubricant favoured by locksmiths) and the printer started working perfectly again! It only took me a couple of minutes so I can definitely recommend giving that a go before you go to the effort of disassembling the machine.
I can definitely not recommend to do that. Inox contains fish oil and when that lubricant dries it's going to be all sticky. Congratulations on destroying your printer you just haven't realised it yet.
@@TerryJonesPrinterRepairs Not sure where you heard that but Inox doesn't contain fish oil, it's based on lanolin and does not become sticky over time, so my printer will be fine.
Thank you for your instructions. Printer is fixed. The foam on the metal peace was flattened. I superglued on a thicker piece, made of a „felt glider“ The gear spring was strong enough, so there was nothing to fix. 😊
Great job, Terry! My c460w has the same problem. When I fixed it with the help of your great video, I'll send you a donation via paypal ;-) I'll see it in the next days... Best Regards from germany to australia (where my son is since a year...)! Thank you so much - and all one-handed!!! Chapeau!!!
My printer was out of action for years & really needed it back up & running considering the prices of a multifunction color laser printer these days. I had little faith that a bit of superglue would fix my problems, but low & behold it worked! You my friend are a champion, thanks a million!
Thanks so much for this clip! I just did the repair myself, all it cost me was some time and a tiny bit of superglue! Had to small glitches, one where the solenoid actuator spring came off of the plate, put the printer upright again so that the spring hung nicely and checked the orientation of the plate with the video, and managed to re-hook the spring. Second glitch was the back cover was not on properly and got the "replace waste toner bin" or something along those lines. All good now, you're a star thanks again from South Africa!
Hello from France! I want to thank you for this amazing topic. I had the same problem with the same exact printer and solved it because of the precision of your video. So thank you Terry for your time and tricks.... ;-)
Thank you for the video. I followed the steps and fixed the "paper jam in tray 1" error but now my printer can't be detected by my laptop even through the USB cable,. I opened the printer again to check and everything looked plugged and in place. Do you have any idea about what I did wrong?
Hello you are so great you have help me to fixe of my problème of the people Jam thank you very my i am sucrerie bet like you i have no problème on my printa ouais by it is not print all that is to be copied
I have the same issue (Paper Jam in Tray 1) with my Samsung Xpress C460FW printer. This is my 2nd Samsung printer. My first printer is CLP 315. I sorted the paper counter and I could use the toner cartridges to empty. It's time to throw away this C460 printer and look for something other than HP and Samsung. Maybe Brother. I could fix this printer but parts and shipping will cost me more than a brand new printer. Thanks for your video.

Big thank you. I really enjoy my "new" freebie that only took a dab of glue and an alignment of a single screw

Thank you! Got my printer working again.
Thank you for the video . Garbage Samsung Company should be repairing this for free for their clients.
The printer is 5 years old I think you're dreaming
I think, Samsung should send Terry a donation for his great work ;-)

Thank you for the clip. It was just this small selenoid relay and the spring in the gearwheel. Now the printer does its job perfectly.
Tnx Terry! Great video. 20 min and some super glue later the printer works like a charm again.
Thank you for your instructions.

Thanks man, thanks a lot, I've just repaired my printer the way you did it! You're great!
Thank you for this video. It fixed my issue, caused by the displaced tiny foam.
Thank you Terry for this wonderful solution to this very common problem.
