I finally got the game. Also it already sold a millipn copies. I can go on about it the whole day but summary it was worth it. It was the ultimate a true shadow the hedgehog 2 game that we waited for a very very long time

HOLY CRAP! I just S ranked all the way up to sunsets and thought i mastered these stages, but geez.......... THIS SETTELS IT! This is a true sonic game thru and thru. The shortcuts and jumping you are doing was very common in old ps2 days of gaming when gaming was at its peak. The fact that you can play this game they way you did in the video and its not a requirement for S ranking a stage is what aonic games SHOULD ALL BE LIKE ❤❤❤

I love that even the very first levels are still long on a speed run due to the sheer amount of areas you go through. In generations GHZ and Chemical Plant felt very short on a modern sonic speed run. Its great fun that even going max speed still has you engaging with so many fun mechanics rather than just trying to skip over everything
if chaos control is activated you can still hit a chaos control capsule and it will replenish it after the activated one is over to save some time from stalling
Yes I do that for many of the runs, however if you do that in Space Colony Ark It seems that you lose milaseconds of time. As the refill crystals of the capsule takes abit. If you grab another capsule manually you get it right away. Also this doesn't work on the inside of the ark because you'd loose the bonus from attacking the enemies, so it's faster time wise to wait for the capsule to reset.
I find it insane that you can speed run these levels and they’re still over 3 minutes long. Meanwhile after Unleashed, you saw many stages being as short as 30 seconds with speed runs. I’m loving they’re making stages longer.
That has less to do with the length of the stage and more to do with people actually learning how to break the stage and sequence break. Give it another Month or two and it’ll be the same thing here eventually

Base Generations you can finish most stages at around 2 minutes. This is normal play throughs, no techs no exploits no glitches. Here we have people doing Shadow Generations stages using techs and exploits and still managing to take 3-4 minutes to finish a stage.

None of the gimmicks here has nothing to do with Colors levels design so it's foolish to compare. Your logic also fails further because after Unleashed is also this same game and Lost World. Which is long as Unleashed and Heroes. Longest Sonic game to beat.
This is one my favorite sonic speedruns. Plenty of skips, but it's not ten minutes of stupid out of bounds clips where the character just falls in a void for 5 minutes. These seem realistic for the average player to pull off and still allows flexibility/choice in routes. Hopefully players don't discover a bunch of out of bounds glitches that take over the speedrun community
i just managed to S rank the stages and was curious what speedrunners were doing. so many shortcuts and skips i had no clue about :0 hats off to you, these are impressive! when figuring this out do you just take a few rounds poking through the stage to find or make your own alternate routes before mastering it?
normally right at the start there is a jump panel and halfway up there is a hole where you could boost and get to this path. There also will be a collection item
My favorite run is definitely Space Colony Ark, less than a second from the WR! Then it goes Sunset Heights and Chaos Island. The video took about 20 hours of practice, if you could leave a like that would be epic!
The WR already decreased by like 6 seconds!! Someone must have found a new chaos control spot. I probably won't aim to beat the WR just wanted to see how far I could get on the leaderboards in 2 days. I did begin practicing after 100% the game.

Shadow generations has had some of the most fun/well designed levels in a sonic game in years. I would love for them to keep doing more like this and keep improving it than get something else like sonic frontiers.
Frontiers was great. Granted it was a sonic and banjo Kazooie hybrid, but it was a lot of fun. Sonic team has been hitting their stride lately. And this is coming from someone who's been disgruntled with them for a long time now.
Should... Chaos Control count? I mean, yes it counts in game, but what happens when someone does a full game speed run? That has to be timed outside of the game ...I guess this is going to a categorical thing, at best
I hate that you can't home on enemies off-screen. Especially in spots like the last 5 enemies of the first stage. Bruh, I know the enemies are there. Don't stop me from homing in on them just because YA'LL removed my ability to control the camera.
Dang, you even got through radical highway without the wings! Chaos Spear is just a better version of the wings then I guess? It doesn't cost boost, it doesn't need 50 rings and it skips having a 2 second animation as well.

You basically store momentum abit more, so if you're moving in a direction like horizontally, you will continue in that direction slightly more than without the spears. Allowing longer distance jumps and initial boost speeds longer.
(EDITED, SEE READ-MORE) I've been trying to run SxSG myself, and while I'm absolutely dazzled by the Chaos Spear usage, something's confusing me here; where are you getting that third Chaos Control during the first Black Hawk encounter in Kingdom Valley (10:23)? You carry one in, that makes sense; you hit a capsule for the second one, that makes sense; you never touched the Black Hawk, you passed right by it, so how'd you get a third Chaos Control? And likewise for the second encounter (11:19); you hit a capsule, use it, gain another Chaos Control from nowhere (near as I can tell), hit the second capsule, then gain a _fourth_ Chaos Control from nowhere (near as I can tell). EDIT: Looking at your Rail Canyon run, I realized all of these "from nowheres" share a common theme: they're all from capsules, and you're using them almost _exactly_ as soon as you get them. Are you telling me you can _double up_ on Chaos Control charges from the capsules just by activating CC the _second_ you break a capsule????

I still can't figure out that 4-fold chaos control sequence at 11:20 you do. did you do something specific or am i missing something? everytime i do this section, i get 2 chaos controls. which are both of the little capsule bubbles. the first one and the one in the river. i feel like the highest im getting on this level is a 3:00 flat. but with those 10 extra seconds, i'd be sitting at a 2:50 which im more than comfortable enough with. i just cant figure that single portion out. good stuff, otherwise!
