On the Mother-32, I programmed an 8 step sequence with two notes and six rests. The sequence playback direction is set to random, thus giving it a 25% chance of triggering one of the notes. I could have done the same with only 4 steps of course - one note and three rests - but visually it looked cooler with 8 steps. :)
