I'm a HON player before, but now I'm playing Dota 2. I quit HON in 2013. The reason I quit this game is that most of my friends playing HON, they changed to play Dota 2, so that left me alone. S2 game really try hard to design and creating lot of different type of heroes/champions in this game. I don't want to compare, HON, DOTA 2 & LOL, this 3 MOBA games have their own heroes and skills and game modes. I really missing the moment that I play HON in the Beta version, this game really make me feel addicted. I want to say something to S2 game, Monkey King is the best best best creation and design in HON. No offence, to all Dota 2 and LOL players, you guys really need to try this game and play Monkey King and others different type of heroes. I will back to HON. Great game. =)
MK isn't port lol... hon mk is port from dota1 npc secret boss.... entire hon is port from dota1... but i guess they later dev'd some original heroes too...

HON was such a great game. Someone needs to recreate or resurrect their game design. It just had too much potential in my opinion. I was pretty heart broken as well for not being able to play it for years just to find out they have shut down awhile ago.
This game looks pretty good. I didn't want LoL keeping me ignorant of a possibly good game so I decided to give HoN a try. Certainly not bad looking. Like the Monkey Kings high mobility in his kit.

mk is still great, the dmg is awesome and his mobility crazy. since the tweaks you actually need to utilize his unique set to outplay and own enemies, before that anyone could use simple combos to crush the game.

It's totally not a coincident. Do you know that most of monkey king story travels uses cloud as his vehicle. -_-

The second I started playing MOBA/ARTS, I thought to myself "I wish I could play as Sun Wukong" Now I can. Thank you HoN. P.S. Yes, I'm aware LoL has a hero based on Sun Wukong, but LoL is shit and his abilities don't make much sense compared to the actual character from literature.
We need to update this hero a bit...maybe have him be able to fly over stuff with his cloud, have more clones, or have his staff get longer range. :balp:
League didn't steal this and HoN didn't steal this, if you look at the upload dates for both of the champion spotlights they're both uploaded at the exact same date (25 of July 2011) so no one stole anything sadly.

First of all, Icefrog who made the original dota (supported by blizzards Warcraft 3) worked together with S2 Games making Heroes of Newerth. (Therfor you have alot of "ported heroes" such as Lina -> Pyro, Lion -> Witch Slayer and so on). Also LoL isnt the the worlds 1st game. Whatever that means, Both WoW and SC2 has way more playtime then League will ever have. To top it all off, Icefrog worked with S2 Games as I mentioned, then gone and worked with Riot, and lastly Valve for Dota 2. Peace....
Quite a lot . Before the first patch on MK , it could do one shot on almost every hero at level 9 with just vault and slam . It wasn't intended but as the vault's animation got canceled , it lands with not only the vaulting damage but also the landing damage . After that , it was patched such that it doesn't work that way anymore . THEN , the last one which is as mentioned before . IMO , MK's mobility and damage output is reduced A LOT .
There is a new "combo" but it's nowhere near the old one, they increased the cast time or something so he can't do multiple things in the same seconds. Old combo was W --> Shift click E --> Shift click W. This combo was used in a split second making MK a huge nuker. He took out any level 5 with this combo so they nerfed the shit out of him.
@themilkz I also tried both games i've played lol for 1,5 years, i know almost every youtuber playing it. But i recently tried HoN and i've got to say overall it's a better game once you get used to it. Lol is also easier to play at least at my alternate acc, so until like lvl 25 you won't be getting a challenge while in hon you are being challenged from lvl 1. I'm enjoing both games and look forward to DotA 2.
@rolliecute1235 Wukong ACTUALLY means "awakened to emptiness." Sun Wukong was the name given to the Monkey King when he converted to Buddhism in Journey to the West.
His only weakness is if you buy armor and HP, and how are you going to that if you're in early game being ganked to hell by MK? Don't get gank and play safe? Then you don't get the money to buy the items, and get killed later on. His combo is basically a 3 second disable that puts even the tankiest heroes below half health, and he has the ability to chase with his cloud passive and can initiate from ridiculous ranges. And he ain't exactly squishy either.

i like the hostility between different game, gamers. if you like HoN, cool, if you like LoL, neat, if you like Dota, rock on. LoL is probably the most simple imo, so it'll attract more (new) people to the genre. LoL is probably my least favorite graphically speaking, but it's what my friends play (for the most part) and i'd rather play with people i know, that's what makes the game fun (for me).

I played this guy like an hour ago. Jesus he's a bit hard to learn on the fly, but my god hes so much fun when you learn his combo xD I killed a stacked level 17 flint at level 13 just because I got the combo right.
Actually it all started back in sc1 days with a custom map called Eon of strife, wich is a 3 lane map just like dota, so that means, dota is in fact not the original.
Look up "Sun WuKong" on Google. You'll see where both games got their inspiration. You should also take notice of the dates in which the original Monkey King was first seen (In the story "Journey to the West"). It predates both LoL and HoN by a considerable margin.

@joaopc94 The invis was an Assassin's Shroud/Genjuro, not an actual skill...And Wuknog was totally different skills, and MK doesn't have a decoy skill

HE lacks a long ranged spell and is extremely squishy. Plus their are many people that deal his amount of damage in less time
