I played for him my rookie year in Seattle. I will never forget what he did for me. I appreciate you Coach Stump.
And these are facts..if you are Tony Jackson lol
I remember you from playing at iowa..you'd get the rock once in a while at end...they put you at fullback? Regardless good stuff
Salute to you, Tony!
You not the real tony jackson you fake ass bot. 😂😂😂
They got Nick Chubb to talk...give these producers a raise.
Is he really that quiet?
@@StaledHotCheetoh yes. When he is mic'd up. You hear 2 things: everyone else and his pads.
that really tells you how much stump means to those guys
@@DevontaTravis I was really about to say “yea they basically have stopped mic’ing him at this point lmao
This was a really great video 🙂🙂
Stump is definitely one of the best RB coaches in the league for sure. David Johnson was a good rookie, but Stump Mitchell helped shape his game to help DJ become a monster in his 2016 year.
I think he's still actually listen under the Free Agency! Right before the season starts every year I also like to go through and look at the free agents, you would be blown away how many 40+ or previously retired players that are listed, guys with like 5-6 injuries, walk ons football never dies
He’s worthy of the hall of fame as a runners coach
i agree
WOW! Stump Mitchell is not a name I've seen in decades and I can't believe how much he's changed. But as a kid I remember seeing him playing for The Citadel, and was unquestionably their greatest player ever. He ran wild against my South Carolina Gamecocks and almost outshined SC's Heisman Trophy winner George Rogers. So happy Stump's doing so well. He was always a winner!
Crazy how he was taken in the 9th round.
You don’t last 23 years in this cut-throat business without doing something right. I remember back in the ‘80s he took a shot from Lawrence Taylor, that would send any back to the hospital. Stump got up, went back to the huddle. Tough player.
Stump Mitchell is one of the gentleman of the game. So much knowledge.
I lived in St Louis when Stump Mitchell played for the football Cardinals. He was one of my favorite players. Always 100% high energy.
It's impossible to not root for a Dude like "Stump". He was The Business out on the Field, seems that's just who he is.
One of the coolest times of my life as a high school football player was the summers I got to work out the coach stump and my uncle when they coached at Morgan state university together. He is a living Legend
he seems like such a good uncle or grandpa you could have
This guy is awesome. The fact that he’s made multiple stars out of guys is crazy, but the David Johnson coaching really stood out because as soon as stumpy left DJ kinda fell off, showing how important stumpy is
Stump was a great player in the 80s.❤
Mitchell and Anderson were a bad-ass duo back in the day...NO DOUBT!
I love to watch him play ! I didnt know he was coaching! Great story! There 3 rd sting run back could start for most team!
Yes, he could.
He looks like a wizard about to send someone out on a mystical quest.
Love to see his breakdown with Shawn Alexander
I still have this guy's football card from 1986 from the Cardinals.
Watched Stump put on a show in the last football game played by the St. Louis football Cardinals. It was so cold that, when I spilled the hot chocolate my pops bought me, it froze after running down two steps. Doesn't get cold like that, anymore. GG, Stump.
Love it. A purist. A guru. Great piece.
That fourth back last season was Jerome Ford, who definitely is making the most of his opportunity this year. Stump!
For Stump it's sad that he really only saw playoffs once in 1982 and that he was behind Otis Anderson who had his own mountain to climb and eventually got to the top by winning a Super Bowl with the Giants as an MVP. Stump really is a great running backs coach.
Had forgotten about stump. I remember him playing. He was tough.
Stump real quietly had a STRONG career in the 80's. Dude had about 12,000 All Purpose Yards in just a 9 year career. Could run, could catch, could punk and kickoff return, dude even has a 115 passer rating in 9 career attempts lol. All-around 80's baller.
As a Seahawks fan had no clue we had so many talented RBs
Yeah your not seahawks fan lol
I am a Browns fan, 7:03 so glad we have “the man” Stump!!!! The wizard of backs!!🙏🏽👍
I grew up watching Stump Mitchell play at Citadel. He was so good. My first "favorite" player not at Clemson or Dallas.
Cold Stump!!! He was ALWAYS one of my favorite players!
Just looking at the Metrics, it should be obvious the Coach Mitchell didn't last 9 years in the League by being a Physical Freak. At 5'9" he had a low center of Gravity which gives him the ability to cut like a Cheetah but you don't average 4.7 yards per carry of the course of a 9 year career based on Physical Attributes alone. You can tell he's still in the weight room too. Good Look! Coach "Stump" Mitchell
I love the look on Nick Chubb's face when Kareem is bitching about not getting the ball enough. He's all like "oh dear I.......i don't think we can TALK to him like that Kareem...", hilarious. He even had a little twitch.
stump was a great player himself had his card back in the day
Stump is a pretty dope nickname.
Greatest thing we can do is inspire
thats great to hear hes a wizard in every facet on these running backs love the content nfl films
I'm a eagles fan, Stump was a great rb himself for the cardinals back in the Neil Lomax days. Bad team but helluva player.
Stump was my favorite Cardinals player as a kid. I was fortunate enough to watch him pull into my high school parking lot in Mesa Arizona probably around 1997. I presume he had a meeting with our athletic department. (I wanna say it was a white Mercedes?) I left him a note on the windshield of his car. I had a Stump poster in my room. (Missing the wizard beard at the time.) It greeted me kindly even after he left the birds nest.
I remember the game when Stump hurt his knee against the Giants at the Meadowlands, Wellington Mara visited Mitchell in the hospital and paid for his medical expenses
Bid well didnt do a thing for stump
Great seeing Stump
I remember going to see him play at the Citadel back when I was a kid.
He was a good back in his own right when he played.
Mack Strong is one of the best FB ever.
Stump Mitchell is the running back sensei.
Stump Mitchell & OJ Anderson were a great backfield back in the day
Some might take a different approach but I think a player like Mitchell was as a pro is why he's effective as a coach. Doing all the little things and being prepared is the key to longevity so his message is key to the men who want to be professional football players.
Its kind of wild hes been a top tier position coach for two decades and never had a HC job...
I am from Charleston South Carolina the Citadel is right there by my old High School man he is a beast
20 YEARS AND STILL A ASSISTANT!!!!
Yup, sounds about right….we all, including Stump, know the answer why. It is what it is!
Ricky Watters was so tickled 😂😂
Woooww... Ol Stump Mitchell!!... Was wondering what he was doing. Kingsland,Ga stand up!!💪🏾✊🏾
Forgot all about this cat ! Lol those Cardinals uniforms were boss
I was growing up in Charleston, SC when he was playing at the Citadel. Good running back, his name was always in the newspaper.
Wonderful! I would not have known about him without this film. Thank you!
how did they get nick chubb to talk???
Stump Mitchell and Roger Craig were my favorite
never heard of him till now...such a inspirational guy
MACK STRONG AND SHAUN ALEXANDER WERE MONSTERS🙏🏾
damn he really has a goated team of rb's
Stump was the man with my STL CARDINALS
Damn the last time I seen Shuan Alexander was on the cover of madden lol
He got too many touches like Larry Johnson. After that he was Beat up
if a OG got a beard and locs you know he about business
Pride of Camden County Georgia!
He’s an rb coach but some pip squeek division 3 slot receiver is a head coach make it make sense to me!!!
This reminds me of the old school nfl films. Really cool
Had the pleasure of playing against him his Senior at the Citadel. Then working with his Father later on.
Most Browns fans don't realize how blessed we are to have Coach Callahan and Coach Stump on the same staff.
How is this man not an NFL head coach yet?
I could see him not wanting head coach, some ppl do better as coordinators or position coaches. He seems content where he's at but I agree, he's def someone who deserves a shot
He's limited he can coach backs but not a whole squad
@@mobbcreep956 there's plenty of limited coaches that got a HC job, and they failed. It's about opportunity. Lots of "athletic" position coaches (WR/RB) don't get big coaching jobs like a QB coach, for example.
he was in the college at the black SWAC colleges and he was bad. Going 14-42 in his career.
Limited skills... he's an RB specialist....
He just seems like a fun guy to be around!
even tho he sucked at Southern University i am happy for his success
Stump Mitchell I remember when I was in grade school he came to my school which is m u l l a n p h y it was after Christmas because I remember getting a Cardinals zip up sweater and there was this guy in my class that he was a Cowboy fan and he used to wear all his cowboy stuff and the day that stump came to my class I had on my sweater man talk about memories
Dudes beard is epic, Black Santa lol
Having the nickname "Stump" is cool enough.
This was awesome. NFL films rules.
Stump Mitchell was a great RB for the Cardinals
U don’t overuse a running back unless it’s Payton or Emmet, it’s perfect situation with Chubb and Hunt
I assumed this was a parody at first when I saw the gray beard and the name "Stump." It even felt fake when Shaun Alexander started talking. I was thinking it was going to be a star RB in disguise.
Loved this guy when i was a kid in St.Louis...Big ass heart..i could tell that as a kid...Loved Ottis too.
As an Eagles fan I remember when the Cards were in the same division. He would beat the hell out of the Birds every game!!!
AWESOME!!! GOD BLESS YOU BROTHER :)
I literally just commented on Stumps firing video about he and Kareem had a hard time seeing eye to eye a lot of the time lol
Stump’s brother is Corlys Velaryon, aka the Sea Snake. 😂
Another Chucktown hero
"Handoff the Great"
Alaxander was my favorite running back when he was in league
4:17 you ready🤣💯
Mr Mitchell was my Assistant Principal in Jr High
NY Giants need to hire this guy stat
Hey Stump.
Albert Borgmann "Ernie" Spring Season 75 Fall Practice.
I remember Stomp playing for the St Louis Cardinals against my Dallas Cowboys. That's when St Louis was in the NFC East.
I was so sad to see him leave AZ!
Alot of these old school players that was really nice didn't get any recognition if they played on a weak team with low media coverage or overlooked if they had a superstar on the team..example the super duper twins the 2 Wr playing for dolphins with Marino...them 2 was nasty hands and speed both over 1000 yards double digits tds a season..marino had help breaking records all I'm saying
Please pick this guy up Seahawks, dude has big Pete Carrol culture energy.
Football is the Best!!!!!
Aye it's Leroy from Tekken
keep it moving stump!
Nice! One of my favorite childhood running backs
Very Entertaining and fun video
Wow- this man can make poeople run into walls harder
Boy a dream come true for a cowboy fan would be kellen Moore as head and stump as the offensive coach. Actually let stump run the team, let kellen go and run his own college team.
It's hard to watch players mouthing off at coaches, back in the day you'd never see that, today respect is different.
He was a great player.
Alexander also had one of the greatest guard/tackle tandems in Hutchinson and Jones for his good years. His left side runs were like double the other way I think.
Former HC of the Southern University Jaguars
This dude is dope haha
