    Ciao Erik
    the German shunter V60 is one of the most beautiful and popular shunter in Europe.Lovely image.Probably yo have to dismantle the motor ,degas it and clean it gently. Then when reassembling it, add a drop of lubricant and the noise should disappear. Good luck and a big like for this beautiful model. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🚂🚂👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😊😊😊😊😊😊

    Hi Erik well shot video ! One thing that can be done to your flange problem, mount the loco upside down and use a pp3 style 9volt batterie with dropper wires to power the
    wheels and use a small fine file to take down the profile then use some fine emery paper to finish, it's a bit long-winded, but it does work. As for the wining motor, a small
    drop of silicon lube no 2 from eBay go's a long way to improving that, costs about 8 euros a bottle and hide's a multitude of sin's …regards Paul.👍

    Big improvement! 20minutes continual running on the circuit might improve things further. I have an old piko steam locomotive with same flanges issue, so be interesting to learn if you find a solution. I like the idea of BR blue and yellow!

    A very nice looking model. Will you repaint it in the Deutsche Bundesbahn colours?

    • @railway187

      I am still thinking. I haven't got decals for DB, and buying them for one old cheap locomotive seems overkill. I might give this locomotive a new life in my British layout (in BR blue and yellow front and large BR logo, painted with a cut out template), or I might keep it red without any logo or with the logo of one if the Baltic railways, which then fits to my ex-Soviet layout. First I want to get new brushes for it and find a solution to the flanges problem. I will check the wheel gauge again, it seems to change from time to time.

    • @patricksmodels

      @@railway187 if you're losing gauge due to slack wheels you can apply a drop of ballbearing retaining compound (by Loctite, for instance) and let it set.

      @@ben222b Thanks for the reminder 🙏 that may be a good idea, and I can't find any information on the 34d train weekend of Ostend by MSKK @spoornegen8826 so Sint-Niklaas is a good idea 👍

    How deep are the flanges? You could file down the grooves on the point frogs.
    What type of lubricant do you use?

    • @railway187

      The flanges are large, and indeed the Hornby points have undeep insulfrogs. The Fleischmann also has a gauge-problem, I had to correct it already but I think it might change while running. I use Märklin oil, just a drop here and there. The locomotive is clean now, there was an enormous amount of dirt and grease. So it has only a drop or five at the moment. The biggest problem are the brushes, they definitely need replacement.
      Thanks for watching!

      @@railway187 I have Mehano points on the outer line and Jouef ones in the sidings. They cope well with deep flanges, like on the GèGè SNCF BB9240 and the Jouef 231C60 steam engine. I've not filed down any of the plastic frogs.
      I lubricate using technical petroleum jelly on gears, axles and pick-ups, and a mix of this and sewing machine oil on motor bearings.

    Hi, Erik! It is a very nice shunter, I love its look. I never knew that the buffers would also be screws, if I ever would have such a model it would have been a big riddle for me. Anyway, nice and elegant technical/design solution. Regarding the flanges problem... I do not know, probably the wheel exchange is out of discussion, so... Thanks for the video, have a super week-end! / Chris PS - Having a Fleischmann motor at hand, you can see if its brushes fit the Lima ringfield motors? If you have tried and know, please tell me, too. I have a couple of Lima motors with no brushes at all, and only Fleischmann brushes are available online (no train model shop in my city, lol).

    • @railway187

      Hi Chris, the brushes in this locomotive are so worn that a Lima will probably not work with them. I have tried to fit Lima brushes in the Fleischmann and that's impossible because Lima brushes are one millimeter more in diameter. I will try to buy new Fleischmann brushes and try to fit them in a Lima motor, indeed interesting to know if that works. I think it will, Lima springs are slightly shorter, but one could shorten the Fleischmann springs if necessary. Have a nice weekend!

      @@Cristake1974 I have bought new Fleischmann brushes. They fit in Lima as well. The V60 is however not running much better, due to the large flanges.

      @@railway187 Thank you very much for this info, Erik, much appreciated. About the V60 flanges, I have not found other solution (yet) than filing it a bit. Putting rubber rings on the wheel would lift it up a little bit, but as cannot put rubber rings on all wheels, this is not good solution, I guess.

    • @Cristake1974

      Anyway, somewhere on the web I found this from a guy having this flanges problem, how he did to file them: ”Remove wheelset, remove one wheel off the axle.
      Put the axle with 1 wheel into your drill chuck & tighten
      Set the drill in a vice, turn it on and let it spin, checking its even rotation..
      Apply a file to the flange to get an even flange.
      Check periodically how much is removed, it can go down faster or slower than you think depending on drill speed and file pressure applied.
      Remove the wheel, fit the other wheel & repeat.”
