Hi Jim!! Another great video! I can share w you my addiction fix, which was unfortunate, but effective. I had a flood in my basement. While no trains were damaged, I had to remove all of my stock, in boxes, up a flight of stairs. Seeing all of that mass in one place was the breaking point for my addiction. Still buying, but far less. Happy holidays!!

Yeah I am exactly the same ...I think tomorrow I may be going to my specialist model shop in Shaw Oldham on my way home from work to pick up something special...if its arrived...yet even more money going out on the layout... life is too short we have to enjoy our hobby as much as possible...jim.

Thanks Sean.. Yeah I have a fair collection of games ...and systems.. The stack is not structured to the roof etc.. My neview is giving me a price to lower it just below the attic floor and retile the hole in the roof... But before this can be done the electrical scocket needs moving on the stack and the gas fire needs taking out and capping off...not 100% sure if this work will go ahead as my wife likes the old style coal effect gas fire even thow is not been used for the last few years....
Don't get rid of the chimney stack , you can convert the fire into a wood burner and burn all the cardboard boxes from the loco's that you will be buying LOL . The new coaches do look good ........Peter
I dug out my 1991/92 Fleischmann catalogue and the crane set is shown as item 5597 fitted with profi-couplings. Does anyone know when these couplings were first introduced?
I think it was around 1982 onwards when the profi coupling was factory fitted to models , coaches and wagons often came with both types of couplings. The crane set I have dates from around 1980 with the box design and old couplings. I know the Profi track was lauched in 1982.
It's sometimes hard to tell from the catalogue because they use old illustrations, particularly on non-German outline stuff. Having said that the illustration of the Warship class in my 2007/08 edition which shows the old style coupling might be correct. This was the year before they were bought out by Roco. I think they had these locos in stock and unsold for decades in Nurnberg. I bought a new old stock one the bay last year for £38 which was just that, never used. The traction tyres were the transparent type that show dirt if the loco has been run. The box has a CE sticker on it but I reckon the model was actually made in 1977-1978 based on a part date code. It ran perfectly out of the box which I've found is not the case with the traditional Marklin-Trix motors. They need freeing up after a couple of decades sitting unused. Probably tighter tolerances and the lubrication hardening up.

Wow those pipe wagons were very unique I sold both sets ..I wish I kept them now as there are very rare to get in the u.k.
