They should replace all the modulators and DSA with electromechanical sirens like 2001s so the wail sounds more like a tornado siren rather than a police siren

No they just changed the tone of it. The old tone was called alternate wail and new one is called wail signal

It was never broken. The siren is a Federal Signal Modulator running alternate wail tone, and Chicago only did that tone for tornado warnings. I know that because I’ve been there when they tested them, and they sound nothing like it. In this video, they stopped doing alternate wail, instead they are doing a regular wail tone
