- Skopje is the capital of the Republic of North Macedonia. It is situated at the crossroads of essential communications in the heart of the Balkan Peninsula. The city has a 2000-year-old tradition and is now a modern city with a population of almost one million. Skopje is Macedonia's major political, economic, educational, and cultural centre. The area remains a crucial priority for attracting new residents, promoting economic development, and constructing and refurbishing projects.
Skopje is a charming tourist destination with a variety of attractions. The city has numerous fascinating landmarks, such as a fortress, cultural and historical monuments, archaeological sites, caves in the canyon of the River Treska and Lake Matka, and a health spa in the city's eastern part.
Skopje is a rising regional hub for international airlines, known for its beautiful quay along the Macedonian river "Vardar" and the Old Bazaar. It's the birthplace of Mother Teresa and a vibrant tourist destination, with attractions like the 1500-year-old fortress Kale, St. Pantelejmon monastery, Sultan Murat's-Hjunkar Mosque, Daut Pasha's bath, and the first signs of the Renaissance.
