Bubbles in Parkville is my local haunt. Chris is my go-to guy there, but they're all super friendly and helpful. I think I was actually there that night, as I think you overheard Chris telling me about the 13 year Penelope light whiskey that they'd sold out of, and I swear I can hear myself in the background of some of the shots. Anyway, great store!
You gotta stop at The Celtic Ranch in Weston, Missouri. It’s down the road from the Holladay Distillery and they have a hidden liquor store/speak easy in the back(Called the Whiskey Snuff) that’s an absolute honey hole, plus it’s a great little family owned shop with glen cairns and drinking glasses.
@@TheAverageDrinker the Speak Easy in the back is called the Whiskey Snuff. It’s like a library of whiskeys, very cool place! Across the street is a great BBQ joint called the Tin Kitchen, they have a locally made BBQ vodka that they use for Bloody Mary’s that is the BEST! Also check out the O’Mally’s Irish pub, it’s in an old wine cellar that’s cave like!
Huge fan! Thanks for this video and reccomendations! I recently did a family road trip to KY and mapped out the same stops. Got lucky at that Bubbles in MO and walked out with a Found North Hell Diver. Keep up the great work!
Hello. Just found y'all and heard you mention Denver. As I also live in The Denver Area, I just wanted to make sure y'all know about Bevy's Liquor World. (C-470 & Bowles) I'm sure you do, but just in case. 🙂
You were out in my neck of the woods. I live off Hwy K in O’Fallon. Cheers. Friar Tuck is usually a pass. Be sure to check out Grillos Chop and Barrel in Lake St Louis great picks and great meat. Our Bourbon Group, St Louis Bourbon Society, did that pick with Lit. Great people at Lit.
Next time you are driving through Kansas from Colorado look into the Thirsty Store in Sharon Springs, KS. It is a small hole in the wall store about 30 minutes south of Goodland, KS. Some interesting hard to find bottles at very reasonable prices. I saved well over $100 total on 3 bottles that I normally buy here in Parker and found others that I cannot get in Colorado. They claim to have the “largest bourbon collection in western Kansas.”
Interesting to see the KC 18 at $299 and locked up in O’Fallon, but lots of it sitting on shelves for $170 in Manhattan. I may have to make a quick trip out to The Fridge. EMAW! Go Cats!
Like these bourbon hunt formats. Very interested in seeing regional pricing on these bottles of interest. A few additional seconds of camera time on displayed prices would be really helpful information. Thanks!
So cool that you did this video. I live in O’Fallon, MO, so these are all of my regular stops, and yes, overpriced. Next time through, here’s a couple of places to hit in the area instead - Grillo’s Chop & Barrel in Lake St. Louis and The Rack House Kitchen Wine Whiskey in Cottleville (it’s the primary hangout for the St. Louis Bourbon Society). There are several other great spots in St. Louis, but those are both near O’Fallon and you can always find some great store picks and other unique items.
I'm in St Peters. Thanks for the store recommendations. I'm new in my bourbon journey. Cheers. Edit - if you have any other local spots to recommend, I am all ears.
@@mattschmitt9924 In St. Peters, I also frequent A1 and Royals as both tend to have good store picks and engaging teams. Also, don’t overlook Dierbergs and Schnucks as I’ve had some good finds there. Talking with the guys at A1 and Royals will also clue you in to when they’ll be getting certain items. While hunting the allocated stuff is fun, there are a lot of really good bourbons available and the more you build a relationship with the store staff and start to understand what you like, they can help point you in the direction of others you might enjoy. A couple months back, I became a Gold Member with Barrel King. It’s a little pricey at 100-125 per month, but the bottles they produce each month are amazing! One bottle per month is included in your membership and you can always buy more. I’d be happy to answer any questions about that, also, if you’re ever interested.
At Dogwood, there was a Riverset SiB pick, those are special! (Dickel Distilled Rye) Very sweet and excellent, if you see another somewhere!!! Also, the Riverset 93 proof changed to the Blue Note (Dickel to Their Own) Cheers you two!
I travel part of that route to visit family in MO, I've just added a few pins on my Bourbon map! Definitely need to hit up the Ben Holladay Distillery next time I'm near KC.
Wish I would have realized you guys were coming down I live in Leavenworth and I would have let you know while you were in Weston to go check out Weston tobacco the owner is a big whiskey guy he has a liquor store in his cigar shop and his humidor is like twice the size of the one you showed from St Louis
Not even a single mention of Mellow Corn. Devastating. Great video. Love seeing the different options across different stores and your mention of Alberta Premium CS Rye (made where I live) scored lots of points. Cheers and go Chiefs.
I do like the taste of Old Grand-Dad 114 better, however the 100 proof Old Grand-Dad does more for me the few hours after and the next morning. Bernheim Original 90 proof wheat whiskey improves my sleep. I am in Frankfort KY, lots of all the Old Grand-Dad here, made in Clermont and Frankfort KY. I am tempted by the Hardin's Creek Frankfort, until I see the price and the limited availability.
We usually just stop in on our way through because our family lives in Missouri. I also lived in Kansas for several years and I’m a Kstate grad. :) however, sometimes we can find stuff in Kansas that we can’t find in Colorado. Cheers!
@theaveragedrinker if your having trouble finding JJ Bowman SB I might be able to help. I drive by the distillery weekly and they almost always have them im the gift shop.

Ohh that’s awesome!! What a coincidence!! Thanks for watching!
Those were some cool stores and man that cigar lounge is amazing! Adding that to my list of places to visit someday!
Got your channel recommended by Brewzle’s Jill.
That’s awesome! Welcome! Cheers! Hope you enjoy!

I’m in O’Fallon, too, and also recommended Grillo’s along with The Rack House.

That kings county barrel proof is a good buy
Good to know! :)
If you ever in Tn, I would love to bourbon hunt with you two. I definitely enjoy looking for unicorns .
I’d be broke after seeing all that Ardbeg. Good trip.
😂😅we do love Ardbeg! Cheers!
Glad you got to see the Holladay Distillery. Such a neat property!

Used to live in Kansas…fun to see what’s out there now. Cheers to a good trip!
I used to live there in O'fallon MO. My parents lived 3 min from that Friar Tucks, I lived on the other side of town. Been there many times
Nice!! Bill is from near there! Cheers!
ah man you guys went to the bad Friar tucks.
Next time in Kansas City look up Redix Store
I disagree. Nothing special there ever and too expensive
WoW, nice find Penelope 10 yr barrel strength. I would have left with a few 🤘🏻
It’s awesome! Cheers!

@4:03 you passed over the Good Times, I'm not sure if I would've passed over it without taking a look at it
We just have never been fans of most good times
Next time your in St.L check out Randalls Royal Liquor and Total Wines. They always have a great selection. Try to avoid Friars. Always overpriced.
We went to Total Wine :) it was even in this video. Thanks for the recommendation! Cheers!
I travel part of that route to visit family in MO, I've just added a few pins on my Bourbon map! Definitely need to hit up the Ben Holladay Distillery next time I'm near KC.
Thanks for sharing your hunt. Awesome cigar lounge.
Thanks for watching! It’s a great lounge!! Cheers!
That was a lot of fun!
Thank you so much! 😊

Thanks so much! They definitely do! Cheers!

Holy moly!!
Score on that 10 year Penelope
Hmmm.. I’d say my initial thought is a 4/5
Next time your in the St. louis area hit up The Bottle Shop and Lebanon Wine and Spirits over in Illinois. He does really good store picks
Thanks for the recommendation! Cheers!

kc 12 is $47 in NY. but i cant find a OGD 114 to save my life here

Distribution is so wild! And prices are so different from state to state. It’s crazy.
Serious question. I live in Kansas. Why do people come here to hunt liquor? Is it much cheaper? better? just wondering.

Not sure where you're going in Missouri, but don't waste your time in Columbia. Trying to find anything rare here is impossible.
@theaveragedrinker if your having trouble finding JJ Bowman SB I might be able to help. I drive by the distillery weekly and they almost always have them im the gift shop.
