@@Pure_KodiakWILD_Power I was fortunate enough to catch Pantera , Sepultura and Prong opening on Far Beyond Driven tour in 1994 Vancouver British Columbia Canada 🇨🇦 at the PNE Forum. It was an insane show ! 😮 my ears were ringing for 3 days and I was spent … 😄 What an incredible show! I went totally nuts and ached for days ! 🤭 a long time later I actually was quite lucky and met Vinny 18 years later( he was on a promotional run for his Signature DW snare drum and meeting fans for fun 👍🏻 ) in 2012 and had him autograph the concert shirt from Far Beyond Driven tour ! He said “ Holy Sh!t I was in Pantera and even I haven’t seen that shirt in a very long time ! I’d be proud to sign that brother!” 😄 and he also signed a the Damageplan CD and Cover. Vinny was exactly what you hoped he would be when you meet a rockstar… Friendly , Funny as all hell and just as cool of a person as you could hope to meet.🤟🏻🙂👍🏻
Man, I’m I the only guitar player who thinks “Live In A Hole” is Dime’s Magnum opus??? Everything about that song is killer! The 3/4 intro, the Solos, the pre-verse with the pinch harmonics! I think later it transitions from 9/8 to 3/4!! The guy put solid state amps on the map… Who does that?!
No.. You’re not!! I’ve been listening to that song a lot!! Me & Dime were just trading riffs one afternoon & came across what I call “the unilateral Pantera groove”!! Hats off to Chris & the boys…
@@REXBROWNOFFICIALSo stoked to see you respond to a fan❣️ Fuck the what some of these haters are saying, Pantera playing again is giving me life. I'm super psyched after just seeing an interview with you saying there'll be new Pantera music. Thanks for continuing the legacy🖤❤️🖤❤️🖤❤️
Good job guys. And thanks for this one, I know it’s as special for y’all as it is for us. I saw the boys play here in Michigan last week and they were phenomenal. PANTERA FOREVER.
Honestly so glad they put this thing together, saw them at Tons of Rock last year and it was amazing. I've been a Pantera fan for so long, and it was great to finally hear the music live, the way it was meant to be experienced. Anyone who says this is just a cash-grab can eat my entire ass, Phil, Rex, Charlie and Zakk stepped up their game for this, it's about honouring the legacy of Pantera and the Abbott brothers, bringing the music out to us all that weren't able to experience it back in the day. Bucket list experience for me.
Back in '11 or '12 I ran into, I think it may have been, Bobby at a laundromat in, Weatherford, Texas. I had a Vulgar Display patch on my jacket and he said he worked for, Rex and was fixin' to go on the road for, Kill Devil Hill. Anyway, he gave me a bunch of promo shit! Reinventing promo poster, Rex pick, Down '02 Japan pick, and a Down sticker. Had it all chillin' in the trunk of his car, lol! If that was, Bobby and this comment reaches you, thank you again, man! Added another Pantera story on the list! Nearly half DFW has at least one Pantera story of the band or crew, lol
One of the coolest, most down to earth dudes in hard rock metal, period. Rex has ALWAYS been so solid live, dude holds it down. Great tone! Thanks for this video y'all!!!
Lots of fellow bassists I’ve talked to who try to get Rex’s tone forget one important key aspect…a big part of that “Rex Brown Grind” is the fact that he tuned way down (a full step or more) but still used standard gauge strings. That “flop” contributes to that grindy tone big-time. One of the meanest tones in metal! 🤘🏼
Grady! Grady! Grady! 🙏❤️ That story of him screwing with the knobs on the MXR Doubler is hilarious! 😂 That's exactly the stuff you expect to hear about Dime. He was that guy. Such a down-to-earth human being.
I was actually at the Nashville show in the front row. I can actually see myself in the footage. The show was amazing and getting to see Rex, one of my heroes perform was mind blowing. Great video, all ways cool to learn about his gear.
I’m from south Texas. People talk about the overly used “y’know” as if Dime, Vin, or he does it purposefully. But it’s the same as anyone elsewhere says “ummm” or whatever. Southern drawl. Grew up listening to Pantera. 6yrs old for Cowboys. 39 now. Love this interview.
I dont know whats going on with gear breakdown videos lately but its like all the holy grails are coming to light. First we got videos on tool, their bassist rig, and now this? Like holy moley
@@premierguitar I hope you guys keep it up, although I'm sure this can be quite hard to pull off.... whether it be time wise or financially. Thanks again! Here's hoping you guys link up with Jerry Cantrell/Alice in Chains somehow!
Being at the Nashville show I can say most of the solos still sounded like Zakk playing, but Floods sounded like dime. You could tell Zakk REALLY learned that solo note for note and put extra effort into that one. It was an amazing night.
This was another great episode! Really enjoy seeing the bass players! Rex is so bad ass, as a AMPEG fridge and SVT4 pro user it’s all I’ve ever used and you just can’t kill then there’s nothing like them out there! It was kinda funny seeing Zakk keeping a huge distance while speaking, then just jumps in for a bro hug lol that was awesome!
He's had it for a while now but I honestly fully expected Zakk to play custom shop versions of his guitars, especially the custom painted ones. Really cool he's using off the rack ones.
I went front stage after a Pride and Glory show in-94. He had 2 Marshall heads, a wah, a stereo chorus, a SD and from what I remember so a quite a small board.
Dude!! Thank you for bringing us this coverage. Please continue to bring more Pantera content. This band has been underrated And out of the spotlight for so long! Losing dime and vin And years later, being able to bring the show back together with incredible Zack Wylde , the great Charlie Benante, and obviously the two legends, Rex and Phil!! This is truly amazing in anyone who covers Pantera thank you from the bottom of my heart. Keep this kind of content coming, please🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤍🤍🤍

Who? Vince or Charlie? Their drum channel just put out Charlie's rundown yesterday. There's another one out there too. It's kinda similar to Vince's rig. Just look up "pantera drum rundown."
@@princegroove I don't find him being dead funny, but rig rundowns aren't exactly a new thing. There's probably a video out there of Vince touring his kit back in the day, or for......Hell Yeah🤷♂️ And damn, I'd forgotten about Damageplan....
I worked for a band that the bassist got sponsored by Spector and they gave him the rex bass at the time (2008) and it was hands down by far the best feeling and sounding bass I've ever played or heard. We had Ernie balls, fenders and customs but that thing was like cheating it was so damn good.
Rex's bass tone sounds phenomenal for that style of music. Is the grit he is getting literally from the Origina Effects DCX? The tone is so clear, but still has a nice attack edge without any fizz on the decay.
As a guitarist rex brown is one of my favorite musicians ever. His TOAN, HIS GROOVE. The backing bassline to the floods solo makes it my favorite dimebag moment. Rex is an excellent bass player that knows how to back up an exceptional guitarist
I meet Zakk in Gävle (Sweden) in 2022 and I got to talk with him at the hotel which we happened to both be staying at after just have seen him play with BLS. He was suuuuch a kind guy. I mean really. He talks to one as if you’ve been friends for 10 years. I got some pictures, guitar picks and my Gibson LP Custom pick guard signed. That night was truly one of the best nights ever. If I never meet him again I’m happy with what I got🥹🔥
Great videos luv the rig rundowns they ate soo cool to get just a Lil peek into a guitar heros world and how unique and different each person, and is.. 🤘🤘🤘
Rex was and still is a big part of the Pantera sound,His Bass playing along side Dime sounded like there were two guitars in the band with his meaty phenomenal bass riffs, complemented Dimes playing so well and more people get to see just how special Rex is with this tour they're doing and Zakk is the only one that can play Dime's guitar parts and contribute to the Pantera reunion, it's no surprise that the tour has been a huge success,Happy to see Rex looking good and feeling good, the whole band looks great

Phil is such an inspiration on where he has been through and is still here kicking serious ass and sounding amazing. Not an easy feat considering the bar he set for himself. Long live the Southern Metal Titans 🤘🏼❤️
Devil giggers
Amazing..
The ‘Floods’ footage at the end (I’m guessing this is soundcheck??) was very emotional, tugging at the ‘ol heart strings.. Love it..
Thank you 🤘🤘🤘
Soundcheck from their day in Memphis.
Rex is COOL AF!! 14:21 16:46 *F-BOMB!!*
Best Bass Rig Rundown I’ve EVER seen!!
Really interesting to see how Zakk has found a middle ground to keep things authentic to Dime's sound while keeping his own character as well. Great video, as always.
After seeing Charlie’s yesterday I had a feeling that this one would be coming, I loved the first one with Zakk so it was awesome having another revised one with him as well as Rex. Class work as always, guys, fucking loved it and definitely one of your best so far
Its great to see Rex doing so well and Zak as always keeping it real. What a trip this must be for Chris to get to listen to this band live!
Great rig rundown guys!
I saw pantera last night in Quebec City. Zakk was awesome , everything was perfect !!!
I saw them in Baltimore Saturday February 24th was a great show also very fun
I need to go see them.. I never got to see the original lineup 🤯🕊🕊 and it would be a great first live show to go see since before the pando.
J’étais là aussi man! Quelle belle soirée!

I was fortunate enough to catch Pantera , Sepultura and Prong opening on Far Beyond Driven tour in 1994 Vancouver British Columbia Canada 🇨🇦 at the PNE Forum.
You saw a Pantera cover band. I saw the real Pantera in the 90s
PG and Chris has been killing it lately, thanks for this and the Justin / Tool rundown. Rex is one of my Bass Gods!
Yall don't understand. As a bass player, this might be the single most helpful and most anticipated video of my life lmao
AGREED!!
I've been a bass player for over 30 years and I'd love to have rig like Rex has here.
Rex is an absolute legend. One of my big influences when I was learning to play as a kid. His tone and playing has always been great!
Wow this is the best Rig Rundown EVER. Dime would be proud.
Because their trash?
What the fuck are you talking about?@@johnsmith-bk4ps
So what the fuck does that mean?@@johnsmith-bk4ps
You keep deleting my message. FUCK YOU@@johnsmith-bk4ps
God this rig rundown gave me the chills and also fighting back some tears.
Top shelf footage of these musicians...thank you brothers and sisters
One of the coolest, most down to earth dudes in hard rock metal, period. Rex has ALWAYS been so solid live, dude holds it down. Great tone! Thanks for this video y'all!!!
Lots of fellow bassists I’ve talked to who try to get Rex’s tone forget one important key aspect…a big part of that “Rex Brown Grind” is the fact that he tuned way down (a full step or more) but still used standard gauge strings. That “flop” contributes to that grindy tone big-time. One of the meanest tones in metal! 🤘🏼
🤘 Rex uses 105’s?
Zakk looking so heathy!! awesome rundown big cheers to all that made it happen!!
That dude has seen and done it all. Living legend right there.
Been waiting for this one!!! Thanks guys!! Outstanding!!!!
I love how every video I see of zakk he’s always like “saint rhoads , saint dime , father rhoads , father Edward “ always makes me laugh , good guy
Seems cool. Never liked his playing
Grady! Grady! Grady! 🙏❤️
That story of him screwing with the knobs on the MXR Doubler is hilarious!
This has to be the most hilariously positive rig rundown I’ve ever seen. Touché coming from the source.
We're out here slaying Rig dragons!
@@premierguitar I hope you guys keep it up, although I'm sure this can be quite hard to pull off.... whether it be time wise or financially. Thanks again! Here's hoping you guys link up with Jerry Cantrell/Alice in Chains somehow!
Man!!!! RIP DIME AND VINNIE!!!! You’ve picked the right bass player!!!! I love his sound💯💯💯
Thank you for bringing this rig review man it was fucking rad
This was a great clip! Thank you so much for putting this together guys.
Being at the Nashville show I can say most of the solos still sounded like Zakk playing, but Floods sounded like dime. You could tell Zakk REALLY learned that solo note for note and put extra effort into that one. It was an amazing night.
Did they play Planet Caravan?
@@J.C... no they played Floods in place of planet caravan.
As a long time Pantera fan, this is amazing. Thank you!
tool and now zakk wylde ? Prime Content right here
Zakk is always so kind and genuine... down to earth guy.... and helluva player
The floods outro will forever be my favourite thing played on a guitar
Met Rex a few times. Very chill and nice dude.
Absolutely he is ... Very nice guy. 👍🏽
Great video. I especially enjoyed Zakk's segment. I love the clip of him playing the lead to "Floods". My favorite Dime lead....💚🎸
I like how Zakk has a nickname for everyone “Saint” Dime and “Saint” Randy and “King” Edward
I liked "Lord Iommi". It fits.
Father Marshall
The "Vatican" must be what Zack calls his studio?
I guess I'm the only one that thinks it's cringe af. Lol
@sharkyy1982 yeah. I figured. Lol
He's had it for a while now but I honestly fully expected Zakk to play custom shop versions of his guitars, especially the custom painted ones. Really cool he's using off the rack ones.
Thank you Premier Guitar and Chris!
Premier guitar had gone full ghetto. Dummies
You guys are crushing it lately.
Thank you!
PS- I don’t cover songs I wrote…I’m doing this to honor two of my brothers I lost!! So this ain’t no party, this ain’t no disco, this ain’t no Fckn around..hahaha
@@REXBROWNOFFICIAL I love you guys your doing great Rex keep on rocking bro, YALL HAVE TO COME TO CHARLOTTE NC, last year's tour, and this year's tour, neither one of them have you coming to Charlotte. We need y'all out here dude.🤘🏼🤘🏼 I love you you're a legend I grew up to you guys. God bless you brother.
This was a great rundown! I was at the Nashville show right in front of Zakk. AMAZING SHOW!!!!!!
I was waiting for this one! Thanks guys!
Thank you soooo much for this awesome rundown... your'e gettin' better and better... long waited for this one :-)
Two things you can always count on is Premier Guitar getting the best players on Rig Rundown and Zakk Wylde always giving the best insights on what it means to be a musician..
I'm sure Dime and Big Vinn are looking down from metal heaven drinks in hand having a blast knowing that entirely new generations in a totally different era are getting turned onto thier music and legacy 😎✌️🧐🤘
This may be the best thing of my entire day. Thx for making this 🤘
Glad you enjoy it!
Very cool run down.
I guess I haven’t really been following Zakk a whole lot lately. Dude is looking fit and healthy!
the most SOLID bass player! but gotta thank vinnie for being the rock. great interview with rex.
I like how you are doing the introduction at the beginning of these lately - great to hear the context
Im so glad that Rex is having a blast. When CFH came out the lsst thing that i thought was that Pantera would become a dynasy band. Not a bad album made and thet carried metal by themselves during the Grunge years. Hears to you Dimebag! And hears one to the boys keeping it still going! Great interview 👍
I had been hoping for this one!!! Thanks a million!
Really love and appreciate these guys and the music they've been rockin all these years.
They are legends, hopefully I'll see them all once
Rex's bass tone on 'Far Beyond Driven' is the greatest metal bass tone of all time.
Highly debatable.
Been waiting for this since i saw the IG post 🤘🤘🤘. As a bass player myself im so glad you got rex's rig
As a drummer, I would’ve loved to watch an episode on their drummer and his awesome rig.
Who? Vince or Charlie? Their drum channel just put out Charlie's rundown yesterday. There's another one out there too. It's kinda similar to Vince's rig. Just look up "pantera drum rundown."
charlie copied vinces kit i think almost exactly
Theres like two. One on Modern Drummer and one on Drum Rundown by Premier Guitar.
@@Pure_KodiakWILD_Power Vinnie is dead so that’s self explanatory. 😂
@@princegroove I don't find him being dead funny, but rig rundowns aren't exactly a new thing. There's probably a video out there of Vince touring his kit back in the day, or for......Hell Yeah🤷♂️ And damn, I'd forgotten about Damageplan....
Love this, so looking forward to seeing the Pantera celebration in Melbourne in a few weeks time 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I worked for a band that the bassist got sponsored by Spector and they gave him the rex bass at the time (2008) and it was hands down by far the best feeling and sounding bass I've ever played or heard. We had Ernie balls, fenders and customs but that thing was like cheating it was so damn good.
Rex is such a great guy, magnificent player!
Its a massive bummer with the Abbott bros being gone...but we're seriously lucky to have Rex and Phil still holding shit down with some worthy dudes.
This is incredible! Dang it I forgot how much I want a RotoVibe until now
fire ep bro!
Rex's bass tone sounds phenomenal for that style of music. Is the grit he is getting literally from the Origina Effects DCX? The tone is so clear, but still has a nice attack edge without any fizz on the decay.
Rex is such a nice fella I hope to meet him one day
Thank you Rex and Zakk.
So badass that Grady became apart of the reunion, besides zakk thats apart of Dime we get to see today
Great videos luv the rig rundowns they ate soo cool to get just a Lil peek into a guitar heros world and how unique and different each person, and is.. 🤘🤘🤘
Rex was and still is a big part of the Pantera sound,His Bass playing along side Dime sounded like there were two guitars in the band with his meaty phenomenal bass riffs, complemented Dimes playing so well and more people get to see just how special Rex is with this tour they're doing and Zakk is the only one that can play Dime's guitar parts and contribute to the Pantera reunion, it's no surprise that the tour has been a huge success,Happy to see Rex looking good and feeling good, the whole band looks great
@16:51 Pantera found all the stuff at the boudreaux Rd warehouse in spring Texas. I remember we were in the practice room jamming several times and they showed up to pickup equipment in the back wearhouse.. Always fun times..
Damn good seeing Rex. Looks like he's doing much better these days. Keep on keepin' on my brother!
So everyone knows: 14 yrs ago, I was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis. Let’s move on peeps..Life is Grand, if you give it a chance!!
