    Even without any reason or inclination to ever take a board game to market, my inner-engineer really enjoyed this, Props! Looking forward to the rest of this.

      Hope it was helpful, DaHanster! Hersh knows a LOT about the process so I am keen on having him back to explain a bit more about component choices and what that could mean for game design.

    Thank you, Gaming Indoors and Hersh for this enlightening interview! I've always enjoyed playing games, but have never put much thought into their creation! Hersh is a knowledgeable and charismatic young man who speaks honestly, to the point, and clearly, about the manufacturing process. I am looking forward to learning more about this topic from Hersh!

      Glad you enjoyed it, Natorbec! It was awesome speaking with someone who is as passionate and knowledgeable as Hersh about board games and their manufacture. Can't wait to speak with him again regarding the actually manufacturing process!

    What a terrific video! Hersh's detailed information was very helpful, thank you for bringing him to us. I can't wait to hear more from him.
    About a year ago I got a quote from a Manufacturing Company in China to produce a minimum of a thousand copies of one of my games for $22,000. There was lots of back and forth and they really seemed to be listening; I felt confident that they were understanding me. But the communication broke down when I asked who was going to be doing the actual work. I wanted to make sure it wasn't a sweatshop somewhere with an 11 year old stamping out parts to my game. I wanted to know that these workers were paid well. But as I said communication broke down about that time and I lost confidence. I think I would like to hear more from Hersh on what it's like to work in China, what are the conditions of these manufacturers. It is difficult to walk away from such affordability but at the same time one must sleep at night.
    Thank you again!!😁🎲

      You are most welcome. I really enjoyed being on this episode.
      This is the second time I hear these concerns you mentioned. I would love to talk more about it on our next video here. We will hopefully be making one more video where I show the actual manuufacturing floor, and I will point out those things, and maybe introduce some of the machine operators so you can meet them. They are generally quite content with their life.
      As for salary a factory worker (all across china) gets between 4000-8000RMB a month which is now around 700-1400USD. Though it doesn't sound much, it is more than enough for living in China. The workers do work hard and are very diligent, that's just how the Chinese mentality is.
      For sweatshops though I have never seen any kids working in Chinese factories I imagine they do exist. Especially sometimes when I see the prices some companies offer I wonder to myself if they simply use very low quality materials or very cheap labor.
      The youngest workers I have ever encountered in one factory were 16 y.o that came to work as a summer job.
      Thank you for that question. :).

    Awesome interview! Quick question - how much does the cost of manufacturing change if you decide to pop tiles out of card sheets and organise the tiles before boxing rather than getting the players to do it themselves? Thanks!

    • @HeroTimeManufacturing
      @HeroTimeManufacturing 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's a great question. I depends on the tiles and the cut. If each specific tile has its own bleed and margin on the tile design itself, we can simply cut them all at once without any punch out or seperstors whatsoever. If they don't have a bleed line designed on the tile itself and the alignment for them must be perfect, we need to have space between each tile and make it a punch out sheet. Once it is a punch out sheet, we cannot punch it out for you as the pieces fall out the sheet and might get lost. Even if one piece is lost the game can get ruined. Also, the additional worker that will stand there punching them out will be an unnecessary expense. Around the 30cents per sheet.

      You can check the link of the laughing Hyena games and have a look at how they designed their tiles. You can clearly see there a green bleed line on each tile.
