he's one of the best things humanity has created..(yes i went there)..his existence is redeeming to the concept of people, (im a real fan).....he is so real, full of introspection......its so realllll.....he voices it all..making many feel less alone
Simon Amstell is absolutely lovely :) There's just something in him that I don't see in many other stand ups and comedians that make me feel that he's on the same level as us and it just makes him the most likable person on the planet
you've named my feelings for him! you gave my feelings words! I never felt so much empathy (not pity, god no) for a stranger. I want to listen to him for hours. and hug him through out
Simon I think you may be my favourite person. I really do enjoy the fact that you base your comedy on your vulnerability and problems, but that's probably because I can relate to you.
Haha! I swear he's talking about Jerry Seinfeld - His stand-up revolves around talking about mundane things like forks and airplane toilets. Also has his own line of shiny designer suits and wears them on stage.
Two points FIRST: 0:57 sheesh, that was a shot at noel..... SECOND: This is why i love simon. he's such an (i dont want to say unorthidox but i will because i cant think of the other word) comedian, he doesnt say what we expect, its such a deep look into his life and heart.
I absolutely love this video. I've always wanted to get into stand-up, so I'll devour anything in which a stand-up I respect talks about their experiences doing it. I've seen Simon live a couple times live now and it's always been fun.
Oh my god I spent the entire time watching Do Nothing wanting to know if Simon Amstell is alright. He should have included an addendum saying he was okay.
I could not do stand up while people like Simon are natural, I have never thought deep about stand up comics until I saw man on the moon, Andys story gave me a different angle to view a comic as he hid in one of his many acts to a point of not knowing the real Kaufman, Now Simons name is enough to draw a crowd as his material made him a must see act,
I take it that final woody allan anecdote is aimed at us the audiance. It must be a good part of why so many peole enjoy Simon, he is showing his uncertainties and weakneses. We all have these to some degree. So it's like being told, your odd and imperfect but thats normal. Pleasently reasuring.
He's a really interesting character. I just read a guardian interview that pretty much portrayed him negatively. I think that sometimes people can take his honesty completely the wrong wrong way and misunderstand where he's coming from.
@TinyTeaza2k7 its also saddening since he seemed like such a :)-y guy on buzzcocks. It's great seeing different aspects of one person and realizing they're an actual human person
I was thinking about Craig Ferguson when he said that. I loved him on the Drew Carey show and his talk show (especially when he interviewed Simon), but I was very disappointed when I saw his act.
loved Grandma's House and I think he's rather talented but I hope he changes his shtick soon. there's only so far you can go with talking about your insecurities
I don't know if Simon is the right person to be teaching people about stand-up, he grew up in the public eye and is known primarily for his work as a host on a panel show, and apart from that he is extrememly young for a stand-up. It's much better to learn from people who made it as a stand-up like Eddie Izzard. People go to see Simon Amstel because they know him from the show
I really enjoyed both series of the alternative situation comedy Grandma's House, but Simon Amstell's one man stand up comedy show is both rather repetitive and boring. These insecure, anxious and self-deprecating comedians are in essance just poor clones of Woody Allen.

I agree with everything he says except he IS a good-looking stand-up. Incredibly beautiful!
you've named my feelings for him! you gave my feelings words! I never felt so much empathy (not pity, god no) for a stranger. I want to listen to him for hours. and hug him through out
Thank you Simon, for being so you.
He is so cute!!! He seems like a really nice person and I understand a lot of what he talks about ... seemed like he was tearing up there :/
Simon I think you may be my favourite person. I really do enjoy the fact that you base your comedy on your vulnerability and problems, but that's probably because I can relate to you.
"well fuck you cause - I'm quite famous" I love this man
Good interviewer, really asked the right questions
There's a sadness about Simon, that makes me feel so deeply for him. I just want to give him a hug and be his friend...
two of my 3 favorite comedians
Haha! I swear he's talking about Jerry Seinfeld - His stand-up revolves around talking about mundane things like forks and airplane toilets. Also has his own line of shiny designer suits and wears them on stage.
hahaha and so does noel fielding
"What's the deal with cat food?! Amirite?"
Then Jim carry comes out and makes a stupid face. God bless American comedy....
When I die and angels ask me what my favourite thing in life was I'll say it was Simon Amstell ♥
I adore him.
Two points

It’s been ten years. Have you done stand-up yet?
@@brandomontes Lmao
i love u simon xxx
"Sometimes I'm annoyed that they're laughing. I think "Why're you laughing? You should be asking if I'm alright!"
"Confident, loud, shiny suit" - He might as well just call Michael Mcintyre by name.
Oh my god I spent the entire time watching Do Nothing wanting to know if Simon Amstell is alright. He should have included an addendum saying he was okay.
where he talks to the camera, the door in the background is giving me mad optical illusion vibes!!
really well done profile of a really swell funnyman. great points on comedy as well.
I could not do stand up while people like Simon are natural, I have never thought deep about stand up comics until I saw man on the moon, Andys story gave me a different angle to view a comic as he hid in one of his many acts to a point of not knowing the real Kaufman,

I exploded when I heard the Dave Brubeck Quartet song playing at the start.
wonderful!
someone needs a hug
Awww I love the way he is gorgeous but he just dosnt know it! X
He must KNOW that to many people - people he will never have to meet - he is adorable......
why are you laughing? you should be asking if i'm alright.
he's ridiculously quotable considering his stuff is so thoughtful and perceptive.
I take it that final woody allan anecdote is aimed at us the audiance.

we are soulmates.
well, I don't know who made this video, but that Dave Brubeck - Blue Rondo a la Turk in the beginning caught my attention!
really cute
@TinyTeaza2k7 its also saddening since he seemed like such a :)-y guy on buzzcocks. It's great seeing different aspects of one person and realizing they're an actual human person
It's funny that he became the epitome of someone he would have roasted relentlessly on buzzcocks
hahaha okay, thanks for the laugh x
He has also has really handsome guys coming to see him. I'm pretty sure he's in his element.
Think that the confident, loud, shiny suit bit is a dig at Jimmy Carr.
I have 2 sinks!!!!
Simon makes me realise how lonely I am :'(
Anybody else see that optical illusion in the window during the interview where you see the dots?
You misspelled "definitely". And "doesn't", but I'm assuming that's just a typo.
"I don't like the comedian who comes out confident and in a shiny suit"
Kinda like Mark Lammar lol
@Iheartlungs can't agree more ;)
I want to be Simon's friend. Simon lets be friends.
Same..
"Very good looking people" ..........I'd put Simon in that company
How was he born in 1979?!?!?! He looks like a high schooler!!!
did he only do one special?
2:41 blonde audience girl in the 2nd row middle left of the picture is really cute
@rabbitwho shiny - it's spelt shiny. Just saying.
I was thinking about Craig Ferguson when he said that. I loved him on the Drew Carey show and his talk show (especially when he interviewed Simon), but I was very disappointed when I saw his act.
i guess i haven't found him amusing for the past several years. thanks for letting me know.
I think he has realised emptiness
well it makes sense regarding you :)))
Everything after 6:43... Omg...
sorry my bad ..I dident recognize it until somebody told me^^
I have one.
One step closer than you :P
how old are you? you seem pretty adolescent. damn it I'll have a good time with you in here :)) Do go on
@TinyTeaza2k7 Don't a lot comedians do that? Well, the likable ones at least.
did... did you not see the pretty boys?
Simon has the same humor as Louis CK, but the two have completely opposite deliveries. It's really interesting.
AAAND ....friendzoned ^^
Russell Brand brought meh her
I only just found out Simon was gay from watching this XD He's awesome.
loved Grandma's House and I think he's rather talented but I hope he changes his shtick soon. there's only so far you can go with talking about your insecurities
has he had botox or just had an allergic reaction to something in the interview?

Taking it abit seriously isnt he
A comic should never blame the audience for the joking not working!
Simon is not pathetic. What's with all these empathetic comments for?
I really enjoyed both series of the alternative situation comedy Grandma's House, but Simon Amstell's one man stand up comedy show is both rather repetitive and boring.

boooo woody allen.
u mad?
Ugh, he's insufferable
I find him hilarious!
