I dropped my mobile in water but immediately picked it up after 2 or 3 sec. Luckily, it was working but volume button was messing up. I removed cover and screen protector and placed in rice for 12 hours. It was working perfectly even speaker and mic. Just want to tell you guys do not loose hope!

This method really does work. I did this with a phone back in the 90s and it worked. I also used it recently on the Motorola Razr. It takes longer with the new phones because they are so tightly sealed. Be patient, it may take more than 24 hours. It may take a few days or a week. I just slide the phone down inside the bag of rice and tape it back up. Good Luck!

It works!!! I dropped my phone into a water-filled basin, and it was still functioning initially. However, the short circuit did occurred which meant the screen of my phone turn green and black instead of my original wall paper. Then, I faster switched it off, and put it into the uncooked-rice container for 24 hours. I did used air-dryer(only air mode/little hot mode) to dry the phone twice in the middle when I took it out and dry for 20 minutes. Luckily it works!!! My phone still functioning well until today.

I have always been sceptical of this method and have never got any of my phones wet. However, I recently got soaked at work (part and parcel of working in Dewatering) and my phone got wet too. Initially it was still working and then died.
So when I got back home (2 days later) I thought I would try this...I just checked and it actually looks like it worked. It showed signs of life after an overnight stint with rice.
I have put it back in the rice so it gets the full 24hrs treatment and hopefully it will charge up tonight. I googled for a vid to see if I had done it right, and found this one. Cheers for sharing😁👍

Yesterday, I used my Google Pixel 7 Pro in the swimming pool for about 10 minutes. Suddenly, a warning appeared on the screen, and I realized that the SIM slot was not in the phone at all, allowing a lot of water to enter. I immediately turned it off. I left the phone as it was, but there is still water inside. After watching your video, which had many positive comments, I decided to follow your advice and placed my phone in a box as you suggested. I hope it gets fixed. @@JMGENTERPRISES sorry forgot to update!
So what I had done since I didn't have rice was put the corner piece of a towel in the charging part (just in case) and wrapped it around my phone, then put it somewhere away from cool air/AC to remove the cold temperature my phone had been exposed to for a few hours. I let a 8-9 hours pass to be safe for excess water from the freezer that may have turned into vapor or frozen particles on my get sucked up and removed by the towel.
I hit the power button on my phone after that and miraculously, it turned back on like nothing happened. As of 2 months passing from when this happen (I am writing this comment via my phone right now), my phone still works perfectly fine. No signs of life loss, short-circuiting, slowly, component damage, anything that would accelerate the need for me to get a new phone!
Although I didn't do your method exactly, it still gave me an idea to try out and hope that my phone just got stalled and needed time to recover safely before powering back on. Thank you for the video- I appreciate it, it was helpful and gave me hope that my phone can still work. For anyone reading this, don't give up or lose hope, you have to try!
TLDR: thawed out my phone with a towel for 8-9 hours, turned it on and still works normal!

In a huge germophobe so before phones had decent water resistance I used rice a lot and it worked every single time. Haven't had the neeed for it because of water resistance in newer phones, but a few weeks back I dropped my expensive Sony so it's a hole in the back=water eventually got in and my microphone didn't work. Did the rice trick and it works again. I've done this trick probably 20 times with different phones, it always works. I don't care when others say that it's bs. I've seen it work so many times.

Generally this isn't good advice, sure it dried out, but water isn't clean! It has minerals and containment's in it that get left behind.
These need removing before you power on your phone again, you need to see where any corrosion is happening and remove it, and maybe re-solder or replace parts that the water has corroded through. You need to look for any shorts in your rails before you cycle power through it or you will blow more caps!
Basically DO NOT STICK IT IN RICE OR TRY POWER CYCLE/CHARGE IT, if its still on when it gets wet, turn it off, and get it to a repair shop and hope they can save it. Basically keep your phone away from sources of water!
(FYI your battery or screen will probably need replacing, batteries and backlights are not friends with water!)

Hello, I have an iPod touch that I have been using for 7 years. I got it for Christmas in 2016 and I used it all the time until a few days ago, it ended up in the washing machine and it wasn't working. My mom tried putting it in a bag of rice, but after 7 or 8 hours I tried to plug it in to see if it was working, and it wasn't turning on. I then did some research and discovered that you have to put it in for at least 48 hours. So I asked my mom to put the iPod back in the rice for 48 more hours. I just tried charging it again an hour ago, and it still wasn't turning on. I also tried plugging it into my computer and it still didn't work. I don't know I'll get to use it again. I really hope I can still use it because I had a lot of important things on there, such as my photos, videos, even my old Flipaclip animations I made in 2017-2020. If I can't use it anymore, I'm literally going to cry. *PLEASE HELP ME* 😭😭😭

Rice won't help dry the phone out, and possibly even makes oxidization of solder joints worse. Even using a sock or something, the powder gets inside the phone and holds moisture close to the board longer. You want to displace the water with 90+% alcohol or at least vacuum it out and put it in front of a fan. But the rice is at best a placebo and at worst damaging to the device.

@JMG ENTERPRISES Thank you for this video. I do want your input on a story of mine-I was listening to music on my phone while running in Cross Country Practice, and my phone fell out of my pocket and into a knee-deep brook. After several minutes, my team members and I found my phone (hard to find, the phone was black and in a dark brook it blended in). My phone appeared to be all good except for the speakers so I kept using it. After helping my Grandmother Babysit my cousin's son, I put my phone in a plastic bag of rice about 2 hours after my team and I recovered it. Not sure if I powered it down. About 15 hours later I pulled it out of the bag and went about using it normally thinking everything was good as the speakers worked again. However, within a few days or a few weeks, I noticed the camera flash stopped working. It never worked again. Do you think if I had 1 Powered My Phone Down, and B left it in rice for a full 24 hours I would have been able to save my phone?
3 Months after my phone fell into the brook, I dropped it and the screen cracked so bad it that it was only usable for an alarm clock, so recorder, or a music player. I decided to use it as an alarm clock for a prank (It blasted Wannabe By The Spice Girls off at 2:30 AM on my targets). I think it was destroyed aftewards

Sorry for the late reply. Typically, if your phone is exposed to water, you don't want to touch anything. Just put it in rice. Any surge in power whether it be power it off or on can cause problems. Hope you were able to resolve it!

@@JMGENTERPRISES Thank you very much. No wonder my phone never worked properly after-since my phone appeared to be good I kept using it for a few hours after it was recovered from the water before I put it in rice. Remember, I was helping my Grandmother babysit my cousin's son I didn't have an opportunity to put it in rice immediately. I should have powered it down (not shut it off, power down) immediately after I found it rather than use it for hours. Sadly there was damage that could not be fixed because of my mistakes, that being the camera flash never worked again. Eventually I got a new phone and my old phone was left in my cousins bedrom where it played Wannabe by the Spice Girls to wake them up at 2:30 AM as a prank. They smashed my phone afterward

It shouldn't. A little rain shouldn't hurt either. Unless it's an old phone, most new phones are water resistant. I would still do the rice method for 24 hours if I were you. Best of luck!

Hi i just saw your video i need advice plzz. I kept my phone on little spill of water yesterday night when u picked it up the screen started fluctuating and eventually i tried to power off and maybe it did power off. Then there were these vertical lines on the phone and now my phone is blacked out but it randomly restarts but no display. There is still water in the lower left corner it only affceted the lower left corner the water got into the screen. Today evening i kept the phone in rice but its been a while i put it in rice like after 12 hours. You reckon it will work 😢😢🥺

    • @JMGENTERPRISES
      @JMGENTERPRISES  ปีที่แล้ว

Anytime there is water exposure, it is best to put in rice and let it sit for as long as possible. 24-36 hours. You really want ALL the water to evaporate before you power the phone on again. Because even if there is a little moisture in the phone, running electricity/power through it will instantly damage the phone. Let it dry completely before using to prevent this. Best of luck!

Should be labeled "How to destroy your device in 3 minutes or less". In all Seriousness if you have nothing on the device of value then this method isn't hurting nothing as if it don't work you just lost your device. but if your trying to save family photos etc. you may just cause more damage than good, the reason being that water is not actually conductive its the minerals in the water that conduct electricity so by using rice you are removing the water and leaving the minerals on the board, they may not harm anything but if they bridge the wrong components you could fry something important.
