What a band! And what an extraordinary song. And above all, how can you listen to that synthesizer melody without having a huge thought for our late Dave Greenfield the genius! Rest in peace.
Great on the keyboards, but a great guy as well. Met him years ago when The Stranglers were on tour in Canada. My mate and I spoke to him after the concert and had a drink with him. What a genuine man. It was only for about a half hour, but it was an incredible experience. I was devastated when he passed away. R.I.P Dave. God bless you.

great band, this made no.2 (I think) only surpassed by their no.1 cover version of a song by the Kinks, preferred their early stuff, not a huge fan of their last five albums
I like listening to this replacement band play all of the Stranglers hits. Good stuff With the exception of the ballad for Dave, what memorable song have The Stranglers had recently... none, right? I get it, they are a touring band at this point, and I'd be tempted to see them, but I'm also more tempted to see a good lineup of Hugh Cornwell playing in a small bar. Yeah one can argue that Hugh was not an original member but, even The Stranglers were nothing at one point.
Oh yawn. Released their highest charting position album in years last year - plenty of memorable songs on it, suggest you take a listen. Band selling more tickets than when HC was lead singer. Strange eh? HC was an original Strangler, Dave wasn't.
@@andysidnell8793 speaking of reading. yeah I just stated that I know he's not an original member. But I would pose that The Stranglers became The Stranglers the second Hugh Cornwell got into the band. Kind of documented at this point. But perhaps I shouldn't judge. To each their own.

What about the Halle Orchestra? We have to come to terms with and decide if a band has a life outside of the founding members? After all many bands were not famous until several changes were made. Sad, but no-one lasts forever and we choose whether to pay and attend concerts or not.
Fantastic band...
Always loved Golden Brown and this song.

your knowledge of the history of the stranglers is way off hugh cornwell was a founding member of the band.
Vilar de Mouros 1982

The Stranglers are not The Stranglers, neither is Kraftwerk Kraftwerk nor AC/DC, AC/DC.

A Pale shadow of what they used to be, almost a pub band except for JJ.
And yet playing to bigger audiences than in Hugh's day. Not bad for an almost pub band 🤣
