Cliff notes of the stream in regard to the Legion Go 2 1. They plan to streamline driver update process. Now that the display is native landscape, it doesn't require a special driver so they'd like to just have the drivers come directly from AMD. 2. It seems that there will be multiple skus for the Legion Go 2. Seems like you'll be able to choose different specs because Ben, Product manager, said the lower spec Go 2 will be equivalent to the high spec Go S 3. He confirmed HDR 4. He said something about the detachable controllers potentially having USB-C for charging. The prototype has it but may not be on the final device. 5. Rail design for the controllers are exactly the same on the Legion Go 2 as they are on the Go 1. Go 2 controllers will be sold separately if you want it for your Go 1. 6. Will ship with 2242 but you can use a full 2280 SSD 7. Fingerprint/Biometric login will be added 8. Native landscape VRR with 97% DCI color gamete 9. Fans inside are bigger and more efficient. 10. They're aware of the support concerns and it's a priority. Geo-political things kind of limit them but he couldn't expand. 11. They took a lot of community feedback and it helped them improve upon the Legion Go

As someone who owns a Legion Go, I love it for what I play on it. Out of the whole conversation, I was hoping to hear something about the battery. Along with everything stated, that would make a huge improvement overall. I hope that can be presented in a later video.
One question that's been answered incorrectly multiple times in your screencasts is you can add games from Epic, GoG and other stores to SteamOS. You add them from desktop mode and they will appear in the gaming interface alongside your Steam games.
@@BenjaminGreenYT No problem Ben. SteamOS is not locked down in any way whatsoever, that's part of the appeal. Installing SteamOS games is easier, but adding non-Steam games is about as hard as adding them would be in Windows. Install launcher (recommend Heroic or Lutris), sign into your accounts (both support multiple stores), click install. Both launchers will automatically add the installed game to Steam's game mode for you if you wish.
Na its 100% harder. @Invid72 using heroic makes it a bit easier but you also need to select a proton version half the time also. Even if its only 2 or 3 more steps, tht means it is more work.
Man I wish I had caught this video live. With Lenovo and Valve partnering, they should make a detachable steam controller that connects to the legion go 2 natively. The Valve trackpads work so well.
Are you (Lenovo) ever planning on enabling the Legion Go (& 2) controllers to connect to a PC and act as a regular controller? I do love these, and would like to use it as a regular controller.
11:30 Really glad we're getting a Z2Go(cut down 6800HS) Z1X, and Z2X options It is important to note that the Z1X being offered is great middle ground between the Z2 Go and Z2X, the Z2 Go is basically a 6800HS but with 4 cores disabled The Z1X is faster in every way going from 6nm down to 4nm, Zen3+ to Zen4, RDNA2 to RDNA3. The Z2 Go is going to be a great APU as long as the price of the device reflects this 3 year old chip. I have used the 6800HS in a $500 mini PC with native SteamOS and 32GB of RAM as a mini steam machine for my little 1080p kitchen TV and it has been great. That same box with the Z1X(7840HS) was selling for $799 at the same time, (they had a 16GB version for $729 but 16GB is really not enough for modern games on an APU IMO)
I'm sure you'd get a lot more just selling the current version, Best Buy has that option, but for the highest model legion Go and an Xbox series X, they only offer $180 trade in
They should just upgraded everything instead of making it a cheaper alternative. If the Steam os version was white and had 80w battery with oled screen and z2 extreme, it would be a no brainer even if the price went up by 300-400. Sucks having to wait for the LLG2 for 6-11 more months and knowing it will still be running windows.
I expect it’ll be roughly comparable to the Ally X and Claw 8. The Z2 chips are supposed to be much more energy efficient when compared to the Z1 chips.
As a Go 1 owner please move both of the USB C connectors to the top of the Go 2. The bottom one is impossible to use when placed on a desk or in a dock so you effectively have only one. Please. Also, I understand you plan to ship the Go 2 with Windows, but please select a fingerprint reader with Linux drivers also as many of us will not be using Windows on the Go 2. Edit: to be clear, you don't have to provide Linux drivers, that's handled by the Linux kernel itself. All you need to do is choose fingerprint reader hardware that's Linux friendly.
9:40 You'll want 65w but if you run in a lower power mode it would be doable with 45w, i keep my Legion Go 1CPU in a low power state using custom windows power plan (all i did was disable turbo by setting maximum CPU frequency to 95% really going to miss this control when microsoft removes it) and then let the GPU run free in "performance" mode in the legion go power plans, and this allows me for the most part to stay charged using my 40w steam deck charger. Nearly all games are still GPU bound, but the ability to switch windows power plans within the legion go overlay means its easy to switch to a power plan that still has turbo for the rare game that is CPU bound.
I'm glad to hear about driver update improvements, i really did regret buying a Z1 over a 7840HS because of how far behind the drivers were at some times, most of the time older drivers were absolutely fine just sometimes behind on features like FSR AFMF, but sometimes games didnt want to run properly on older drivers. Not entirely the manufacturers fault, AMD chose to make the Z1 family of drivers different enough that you cant just use the AMD driver installer without breaking things like scaling refresh rate controls, landscape/portrait controls, vsync, and even resolution control in several games are just greyed out with AMD drivers over the device manufacturer's drivers I'm torn between OLED 1200p and the old LCD 1600p, I LOVE OLED, but i like the ability to run games at 4:1 perfect scaling at 800p:1600p when the devce is not powerful enough to do more than 800p, yes the Z2X is more powerful, and 1200p is easier to run than 1600p, however is the Z2X going to be 2x as powerful as the Z1X because thats how much more power you need to go from 800p to 1200p (closer to 2.3x)
Question: This may sound dumb but can a SSD with a heatsink fit or should I just add a SSD w/o heatsink? I'm planning on getting the Windows Go S version.
