As someone with about 13 years of experience dyeing my hair, thank you!! I get so tired of people saying you can lighten hair without damage. That's not possible. You can mitigate damage when lightening it, but you can't completely avoid it. The only way to not damage hair when coloring it is if someone is a natural blonde and they're applying pigment on top without pre-lightening. This video was incredibly informative and you explain things really well. I started my loc journey about 8 months ago and this helped a lot ❤️
My hair can't take any kind of damage. Fine, low density, 4C. My hair never grew to my shoulders. I love locs so much. Complete hair freedom and length finally. Love your videos Dae 🧡
I'm fine high density 4c. I will warn you. If you choose to comb them out, be prepared for MOST of the color to break off and/or need to be trimmed..if that is your goal, color early especially if you use bleach.
I’ve never colored my hair but you are right whenever I think about it I worry about the damage. And since I’ve never experience hair coloring and this is my first loc journey I’m so apprehensive. But I love seeing people who have locs with all colors.
The blonde is my fav. I know it can be so damaging though. I have to settle for a “honey” blonde which basically looks ginger. Too afraid to keep bleaching over it just to achieve a few shades lighter. Using L’Oréal hicolor for the new growth. The red looks good on you too. They’ve grown a lot!
@@daelocs yeah the dryness is REAL! I like the macadamia mask. Also As I Am Leave in to just coat the top. Planning to continue the coloring until I reach shoulder length, then grow it out for Ombré , then finally embrace the grays or a darker color. I just HAD to do blonde for a least a while.
I’ve been really wanting to color my locs. I’m trying to wait until my one year anniversary. I’m about 10months in but my hair loc’d so quickly! I have extremely full thick locs.
Oh and Dae I have been binge watching your luxury bag videos, I have 3 "girls" (aka purses) currently & sum accessories. It's super exciting. Expect me all in those comments too lol
Thank you 😊 for this video I colored my hair before I’m still in the starter process I love ❤️ my dyed hair! Yep it’s the color! Thanks 😊 I get my hair done every month try every other month🥹
Thank you for this video 👍🏾👏🏾🤗and you are straight glowing . I’ve been wanting to color my locs for years now . Beautiful locs and cute color looks pretty on you 🤗
I always used boxed dye to color my natural hair, but when I locked my hair , boxed dye didn't work, and I have tried boxed dyes with booster , nothing worked. I don't want to lift the color with bleaching because I fear damage to my locks . So for me dying locks isn't as easy as dying natural hair.
I got my starter locs for the first time May 25th 2023 I get my second retwist on July 6, 2023 can li use a plant base color shampoo when I get my retwist in July or do I have to wait 6 months?
I have gray hair and i get my hair colored because I’m not ready for gray hair, lol, so what your saying makes me sad, lol! I really want to continue coloring my hair and also get the locs. I do take good care of my hair and keep it moisturized and I get little to no breakage. I have been coloring my loose natural hair for 2 years, so I’m hoping if I continue coloring it it won’t be damaged to much but I won’t no till I get the Locs
@@6kidsrule1 well I’m 3 months into my Loc journey now and I let my loctition color my new growth because it was time, I had an inch of growth and so far so good, just the normal little hairs or shedding here and there
The molecules in dyes are bigger for certain colors I.e. red so it fades faster. I’m going to start my journey this week but I want to incorporate olaplex (it’s expensive but an investment).
@@daelocs lol yeah... I’m on my journey to honey blonde. I did the first round of box dye and it turned brown 🤦🏾♀️.. I think I’ll wait 6 months to a year before my next one lol

Locs will definitely give you the freedom to break through! I was the same way honestly with my loose hair. ❤️❤️
