I told myself I was gonna wait a year (3 mos in 2nd set), but I could not lol. I bleached and used box dye. So far I am keeping it very moisturized with conditioner (just making sure to rinse thoroughly each time). So far so good. I just get so bored with my natural color. I feel younger and cuter with colored hair, and just can’t resist! I say proceed with caution, but go for it! I always do my own because every time I paid $$$ I saw unhappy, so figured if ima be unhappy I’d rather do it myself and save the $$$...and improve my coloring skills in the process!
You prolly dont care but does someone know of a trick to get back into an instagram account? I stupidly lost the login password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me
@Mateo Cyrus I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm trying it out now. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Thank you for share your journey I'm 7 months into my starter loc journey. I definitely was about too dye my hair until I found your video. Thank you I will not be dying my locs no time soon 😊
It was really tempting to dye my hair blonde but after watching this video I'm gonna wait a little bit longer to see where my hair goes. Thanks for the information
I was thinking the very same thing. I haven't started my hair luv journey yet but I'm very close to moving in that direction. So after watching her video I immediately canceled my blonde hair dye appt. Lol
I'm so mad I didn't dye my natural hair prior to locking... now I'm 5 months loc'd on the 26th of Dec and tried wax RED color but its a mess! Staining my tops and pillow.
So I have a lot of grey, so Iplan to dye my hair black before locking it. I am going to start my journey in October because I love to swim and know I'll be doing a lot of it.
What do you think about hair wax paint for locs? I see people reviewing but i wanna know like what more of the pros and cons are in terms of keeping locs healthy and when its okay to do that. Right now im about to be 3 months locd!
This is my first time coming across your page & I just subscribed!! I can’t wait to check out the rest of your content. I wish I could have color in my locs but my job basically prevents in. That might be a good thing because I thing I would have been dyed my hair lol. I did use hair wax one time and that was pretty fun 🥰
All so true. Great information. I'm only 4 months in with micro braidlocs and before I locked , the top part of my head was already dyed a honey blonde. I want burgundy red soooooo bad , especially after all this quarantine stuff is over lol... but like you said, I had red before and it fades to a very unflattering color. I wonder if you keep putting rinses on it, if that would preserve it instead of actual color. Also back then I didnt use shampoo for colored hair, but again i dont know if that shampoo is good for locs. I did use it with the blonde i have now and my hair has been dyed about a year and it never broke off or faded but I kept it very moisturized. The texture did however change and I had to be very careful with it. But with my locs I still try to put a non creamy leave in spray on especially the colored sections. I dont know if I'm supposed to, but I feel like I need it for extra moisture.
Beauty4Ashes hay u can use shampoo on ur locs, just make sure it’s for African American hair. I just dyed my locs an I’ve been locd for 2+ years now I just dyed mine at the end of March this year. An I have noticed a bit of a difference with my roots. Like I feel like there getting thin. So I’m going to continue to not retwist my locs for a while an see what happens. Good luck☺️
Thank you for sharing. I am 3 months in my journey but I have a lot of gray and white hair and when I was loose natural I would dye my hair. I thought of jet black and I am hearing about the bigen. What do you think about this? being its not a dye but henna?
I’ve been locd for 2+ years now an I recently just died my locs at the end of March. And I have noticed a difference in my roots. Like I feel like there thinning, so I’m going to continue not to retwist an see how that goes.
I started my love journey yesterday and I got my hair dyed before starting the locs and now I don’t even like the colour and I feel it might kind of like affect my hair, so thinking of dying it back to black and I was told to wait for couple of weeks, can I go ahead and change it back to black and give it enough treatment to get my hair texture and strength back or wait for a month according to my stylist and I actually went for ginger but I’m not just feeling it🚶🏼♀️
Wow from my experience with theses colors you are so so true. For 64 starters locs black is just not cute “cute to me” but I need to get rid of these gray kids. 🤣🤣🤣
I colored 3 days before getting my locks and again 8 months in. I went from reddish blonde to black. I don’t regret it but I am now extra careful with my locks since coloring them because I know my hair has not fully matured.
This video was very informative. I've been dying to give my hair some color, ( I have so much grey)but I don't think it's a good idea for me because I'm fully locked. As well when I ask my locitican he tell me, I'm not ready for that now so I respect his expertise.
@@daelocs you can henna your hair. I have greys through out my hair. Now my hair looks like I have deep to like red streaks through out my hair. It's beautiful plus healthy.
@@daelocs I have locs as well. I've doing henna for 6yrs now. I love it. Makes your hair stronger as well. I made my 1 year loc anniversary on 1/23/2020
You're making my journey so much easier... I binge watch your videos. You're so pleasant to watch. Please keep 'em coming.
Kauna Heita aawww thank you so much ❤️❤️

That’s the worst part about red!
I am one month In and I dyed mines. Well 2 months. Hindsight....I should have waited. It kind of loosened the ones that had started to loc
Your videos are so helpful to me as someone new on the journey!
Danielle M I’m glad! That’s why in here ❤️ thanks for watching
My son is watching you he loves you
Your heart is beautiful
Aaww thank you so much!

My first set of locs I dye my hair before I installed my locs it work out well.
Great video🙌
Natural Rastagurl yes that’s also a good option. Thanks! 💕
Thank you for this!
How long did you wait after dying it before locing it
I’m 6 months in and I asked my loc tech and she said not till they mature. I have no choice😂. Thanks for your video as well❤
The red one i used on my hair is matrix HDRV one year and still red
Thank you🦋😍 I started off with dye, then got twisted, but not since & longing to again lol
So my natural hair is bleached so starting my locs I wanna bleach the roots as they grow out!
I was told I had to wait a year🙁
Just use henna or do a henna gloss over the dyed burgundy to lock the color in.

MsReeTV aww thanks for subscribing! Honestly your job probably did you a favor 😂 I’m sure your hair is beautiful either way ❤️
Detia Cork thank you ☺️
I’m 6 months loc’d. Is that too early to dye my hair? I’m so tempted to but I don’t want any damage 😭😭
Me 2
I'm 4months in and ... I think I'm going to do it
khudahpooh i’m 4 months too! i wanna do it but did you do it?
@@khudahpooh7191 did you do it. I'm so tempted and will probably do so

You could use a paint wax color once it starts to fade
Just use henna or do a henna gloss over the dyed burgundy to lock the color in.

Im five months in and my loc tech said NO NOT YET 🤷🏾 WELL OKAYYY THEN 🤣

YO YO omg thanks so much! Lol
I colored my hair about a week before I started my locs. I use Shea Moistures line
Lizazlocz that’s the best way to do it!
I'm about to color my hair a week before my starter locs. Please give me any info or tips you may have
You've really come along way since this video.
Can you make a video on how moisturize your locs?
haironpoint hey hun. I have two on my channel.

Omg!! I feel the same!
I have 42 I felt this
So what can I do with this grays in my hair?
Ok so I’m just doing some extensive research!😁😁😁
This video was so helpful ! Thank you!!!
my locs are 25 months now and I'm thinking of dying
this video was so helpful 😁
What about the hair color wax?
Renee With The Good Hair never tried it!
Well try it an tell us what uu think !
There's youtube videos about it. I used a little bit and it came out really easy
On starter locs ?
I used it on my starter locs last week, it washed right now & the color was really vibrant
“I’m not a scientist”😂
Hey, do you think it's better to dye my hair before locing it or loc then wait a year before coloring it?
Wait atleast 4-6 months then color.
Im 9 months in
I'm 9 months locked I want to dye the back of my head green 💚would that be considered starter locs?
Na
I colored 3 days before getting my locks and again 8 months in. I went from reddish blonde to black. I don’t regret it but I am now extra careful with my locks since coloring them because I know my hair has not fully matured.
Mrs. Joe joe red is my fave! But yes just listen to your locs ❤️

SWEETGA BROWNIN I would embrace the grey! Grey locs are gorgeous

I came across your video because I'm thinking about dyeing my starter locs and BOOM I'm like... I KNOW HERRRRRR lol from Westlake lol
Is it okay if I dyed mines before I started my locs ?
Imani that’s the best way to have colored Locs in my opinion! It may have its effects but it shouldn’t be bad.
Yhhh red dye runs period‼️
