Got my prompter and it was a breeze to set up and start using... Just a matter of minutes. The remote works great on my iphone. Haven't seen any of the ghosting some have described. 🤷♂ Good job guys!
Great product but I cannot get the remote to work. It connects via Bluetooth to the smart phone (Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra) but does not control the app. Is there any additional setting to make in order to get the remote work with the app?
Thanks for the message and wish I had better news. All the information we have gotten suggests that the Android OS 14 update has broken the communication protocols of the remote, specifically what it considers a BT Keyboard. Our remote operates under the BT Keyboard protocol and is experiencing the same problem. We sent a BT Keyboard and an old Parrot V2 remote to our developer to see if they can isolate any hardware behavior and are also in touch with the remote manufacturer to see if there’s a way to update the remote’s firmware as a possible fix. We’re also keeping up with the Android OS updates to see if a solution is coming on the Google Play store. If you have a device with an older version of Android OS it seems to be fine up unitl 14. More soon! Josh
What happens if you have an ND filter that screws into the same spot as the mounting ring? Is there a way to set up the ND filter and the Parrot's mounting ring on top? Second question: would this work on 14mm lenses, or will the edges of the teleprompter show up in such a wide angle lense? Thanks.
Got my unit, and am really excited about the potential. However, I'm having issues using it with my Sony A7siii with a 24-70mm G-Master ii. Without even using a phone, I have to zoom to about 35mm before I no longer see the edges of the teleprompter. Your example uses an A7s, and I saw in a comment below you mentioned it working with a 24mm lens, so I wouldn't think I'd have these issues. Wondering if mine has some unique manufacturing defect?
Hey There! I believe I was using an A7SII with a metabones and a Canon 24-70 but I'd have to check. I don't see why a Sony lens would behave that differently but some TH-camrs have tested other configs and seen slight vignetting. If you want to send a photo to support@padcaster.com I can get a better sense of your issue. I've also seen some people remove the bottom tray and re-mount it with the hinge open beyond the hard stop. That would allow a much larger angle for the phone, but not address any vignetting at the top. Send pix we'll work it out! Thx
Let me know what camera and lens you're using, I'll see if I can emulate this situation. If you're using this in a fixed position do you need the AF? If not can you switch it off? Thx J
Using an iPhone 15 here and the only button on the controller that works is the ok to play and pause. For the arrows, a big blue box comes on the whole app screen but it doesn’t control the script. Help please
Using it with a GoPro is in this video - th-cam.com/video/wosFz_Wh2OQ/w-d-xo.html I'll look into getting my mitts on an insta 360 Ace Pro - unless you want to loan me yours :)
Hmmm? I like the unit, but I have an issue. Unlike your demo, my unit does not fold open past the 45 degrees or so you show in the video. In fact, it's less than that. I don't want to force it open, but it's showing part of my phone's edge in the camera image. Any thoughts on what I can do to adjust this?
Try loosening the gopro screws and see if that helps, but it should open more then 45º (I just checked and we modified the tool to open to 49º) Also make sure you're looking from the side at eye level as the angle can be hard to see. If it really seems like it's >45º let me know and we'll get a support ticket going. Also (silly question) youre pushing the tray closed and clamping the phone? I've seen folks just lay it in there and the tray edge is far more likely to be seen. Last - what camera and lens are you using? 24mm worked on all the rigs I tried, but Epos Vox had a different camera/lens combo and had to zoom in a little. Let me konw - Thx!
@@thepadcaster Thanks for the quick reply. I tried removing the screws and reinserting and the hinge restrictor is keeping it from opening further. How can I send you a photo of the side view so that you can see it?
seems like the slick cords was not the best solution. Why was this chosen rather than a rubberised material? I've got mine and I can confirm it's not very reassuring to use. I imagine it would be embarrassing for these to fly off in front of a client and have the iPad hit the floor.
Thanks for the comment Benoît! If the prompter isn't moving around aggressively, the cords will stay put, but I do try to install them carefully on the newer iPad Minis and small external monitors. We'll talk to our supplier about getting a more rubberized set in the next batch. - Josh
To be safe, I'd switch off the AF. I would not want my $$$ lens turning gears with the Parrot Pro hanging off the end, but I always set my focus manually (I don't like to risk AF "hunting") and give myself a deep enough depth of field to move around a little.

Hey There - we now have an "Over Air Update" for the Parrot Remote but it requires you to download a few files to your Android device. Please email softwaresupport@padcaster.com and a rep will send instructions on how to install. Thanks!
Informative to the point review, very nicely done. Will try and set up tomorrow. Thanks!
Thanks!

Hi. The remote controller is not working
Yes, this is a known issue with the recent Android OS14 update and we are working toward a fix. What device and OS are you using? thanks, Josh

The auto focus on my canon lenses cannot handle the weight of the padcaster and my camera keeps shutting down. Is this normal? Any workaround?

How do you focus with that 50mm lens if the focus ring is actually on the front thread itself
