      I've been doing public speaking from notes and outlines for years, so when I started with video, I kept that approach. But now I find myself wanting to do a series of videos with very tight and specific time constraints, so to hit things within a few seconds of my target I've decided scripting things out word for word would make it easier. I've never used a teleprompter before, but I'm looking forward to learning.

    I'm a former television news reporter and anchor, so teleprompters are second-nature to me. Technology has come a long ways since those days, and the ability to use them in a home studio is awesome. Thank you for a great review. I can't wait to get mine in the next few weeks, with my rebranded channel in the works.

    The timing on this is perfect. I've been wanting to do more talking head videos for my YT channel, but looking over to a laptop or phone on my desktop is frustrating and adds more time in editing. I love scripting things in advance so I can be concise and not go on tangents when I talk. This is exactly what I've been looking for. Thanks!

    I'm a student in a German university here in Oman. And learning German is a mandatory subject to graduate. So during Covid we had a project where we're supposed to present some of the rooms in our house - vlog style. So what i did is that i downloaded a teleprompter app that worked simultaneously with my front camera and vlogged the hell out of my house - German style. Long story short, got a full mark lol

    Thanks for this! I got my Glide Gear teleprompter yesterday, and will test today. I bought the PromptPlus software and tested it last night, and wow it is like magic when it moves as I speak…amazing! This is going to save me time for sure, because it takes me forever to prep and film and edit without at least an outline or script. Really appreciate what you do, and for the helpful info!

    A big tip I use for script writing and then recording audio or video is *USE CONTRACTIONS IN YOUR SCRIPT* (when appropriate). It took me a while to realize, but the difference it makes is so important to not sounding choppy and obviously reading off a script. Helps the flow better and can prevent you from stumbling on a word since you're juggling less syllables.

    I've gotten really creative with placing my phone in front of the monitor to see the script just above the level of the camera using a Word file using my cell gimbal. I can see 3-4 lines just above the camera line so it looks like I am looking right into the lens. I shorten the margins down to about 4-5" to keep the eye movement to a minimum and then just jump-cut everything together with zoom in's and outs. I use my smart watch to start and stop the cell video and as a view finder that works great!!! For stand up shots, I use the cell on a tripod and raise my monitor up so it's just above the cell camera and then do the same read and edit. I NEED A TELEPROMPTER to smooth out the eye "tracking"! The Glide Gear looks like the right one for me so I can use the Canon M50 to take my shoots up to the next level! Thanks as always for the great reviews and shows with the equipment!

    • @the_grindtheory
      @the_grindtheory 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video. Omar’s public speaking skills and hand gestures have skilled up, you can tell he’s been working in them. Nice work. I’ve uses the app for years now back on forth with glitchy stuff, then came the day where the video was lost and I stopped using them all together. Where was this a few months ago when I started lol. Now I just use a note pad with bullet points. But for first time newbies, please use it, it will teach you to speak smoothly and faster. Good luck everyone.

    Hahaha I often tape or clip bits of paper around the camera with reminder prompts of what I want to say, then memorise the script sections. Great review Omar, thanks
    I stumbled a lot on camera when I was following word for word script until the option of using slides released, I simply mirror-flip the slides with talking points and use them as my teleprompter software to help me keep eye contact with the viewer and I speak freely because I don't follow word for word, I found this option as a good lead to be natural on camera, I always have the whole concept in mind so I deliver a smooth presentation.

    OK, I bought this teleprompter after seeing this review and I just opened it and filmed the unboxing for my youtube channel, but it was not easy to setup at all! and it looks different from the one in this video, 1- the cover is made from a different material, 2 - there is no glidegear logo in the front (there is on the cover) 3- the most difficult part was.... the cover is too big for the Canon M50 lense so even though I tried to tuck it under the lense it kept covering the bottom of the lense! I will try again tomorrow but this were my main points. oh and the screws on the sides are all black also they are not aluminum color as the ones here!

    Great video - thank you. We had an issue with the Parrot Padcaster, where the left and right hand side of the unit were visible on our lens. We use a Sigma 16 mm F1.4 DC DN, which does not have zoom (hence the problem). However, if you have a zoom lens (or one that isn't quite so wide), it should be great.

    This is great for when you’re using a wide shot, but the minute you want to shoot at 85-150mm you’re going to really struggle to read such a small teleprompter. Of course, with your frame, that wide angle is flattering, but if the talent is a little larger, then that focal length begins to become unflattering. I have the AutoCue Starter Series for iPad Pro, and find that I can shoot up to 150mm and still have ease of reading for the talent. That makes a huge difference. Only problem is, the teleprompter needs a flight case, as it’s so huge, but does mean that it can travel abroad for projects, which is great. Otherwise, good tips - enjoyed the video, but maybe share more cons in future.

    • @omarel-takrori8468
      @omarel-takrori8468 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks for the feedback craig, great point - yea by all means getting into those focal length i would even think the ipad itself wouldn't be large enough to see and you're looking at more of a production size prompter

      Hi Beauty By Brigitte,
      Why not use Powerpoint in a Teleprompter?, using an App called PPT-Mirror, which mirror-flips Powerpoint slides for any mobile device to be used in a Teleprompter with bullet points, to lead you while you speak and keep your speech natural because you don't read word for word and keep the conversation on target without a glance to a script so that your eyes don't go off the camera lens.

    Ha Ha we started by using an iPhone 5 for teleprompter! sometimes paper cheat cards. Now we just go over the script and shoot. part by part. I allow Spiro to run it a couple times to get him to start saying the lines with his own flare. we need to upgrade.

    I was having a problem regarding my script. I was trying to do Q NA about my tatoo but couldn’t do due to long script. Hopefully this will solve my problem 😊😊😊. Thank you for the tutorial and video.

    Hi Think Media, I absolutely love the content. I would be interested in seeing a video that shows how to use and setup a webcam and teleprompter.

    Wow, I've been struggling to speak coherently on my videos and so glad I came across this recommendation. I just got the teleprompter and app setup, what a game changer! Cannot wait to use it to record and publish my next video! 100x Thank You!

    Thanks for the tips. I have been creating articles that I convert into videos later. I intend to create a blog with the articles laters when the channel starts to pick up a little. This is very helpful because it will help me read my articles. Cheers :)

    Thanks for this video, the app is a gamechanger. I've been using the DJI Pocket 3 for all my videos and love it. I'd love to be able to use it with a teleprompter - any recs on a set up that would work for my Pocket 3 on a tripod?

    I've been using the Parrot for a while with a Canon T7i and and a 50mm lens and I love it.
    Tonight I setup a second shoot location at my desk with a 24mm lens... I've heard Vignetting is a problem with any lens wider than a 28mm but I'm seeing none of that.
