- Galveston, Texas has a lot to offer very close to the cruise port. Stash your bags and walk to these recommended sights!
Here at the Port Lowdown, we aim to create informative and entertaining videos about cruise port docks and ports-of-call for independent-minded travelers on a budget, who are looking for things “outside the usual”.
We work hard to research and produce videos that are detailed, helpful and engaging. How are we doing? Let us know with a comment! We want to serve you!

Need a "love" button for videos like this! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks so much!
EXCELLENT review. I love the music and will definitely check out some of these places when I'm there in July.
Wow, thank you so much! We had a great time here and hope to come back soon. We especially enjoyed the book store and train musuem. Best to you!
Didnt realize Galveston is so interesting. Great info!
Thank you SO much for putting this video together! Perfect timing, b/c we are on a repositioning cruise ending in Galveston in December, and are staying overnight through the next evening. Your video was *just* what we needed to plan what to do with our 36 hours in Galveston. Should've planned to stay longer! Liked/Subscribed!
Glad to help! Like I mentioned, the video covers things within walking distance. There's still other attractions a little further away that I didn't get to this time. Hopefully, on our next trip! Have a great time!
Wow I learned a lot watching this video. I’m looking forward to exploring after my cruise in January
Glad to help! Hope you have a great trip, let us know how it goes. Best to you!

Great information !
Thank you for let me see your video
You're very welcome. Thanks for watching!
Galveston isn’t the flashiest cruise port, but there are lots of things to do on the island. Even more if you have a car to get around.
True! We really enjoyed our time there. Next time, if we don't rent a car, we plan to try the trolley to get around.
Thanks- good video. Content well presented, a list I would enjoy. Fantastic set of museums. None of the felterkarb that so many TH-camrs do. Juneteenth fascinating history.
Thanks so much. I really appreciate it!
Did you have more movement/bounce in the rear of the ship?
Hi! Usually, the lower you are and the more center, the more steady. The ends of the ship will get more movement, but the rear is slightly better than the front. If you're on a higher deck, you'll also feel more movement. So if didn't have a mid-ship cabin, and I HAD to pick, I'll take the rear over the front. On a lower deck, if possible.
Hope that helps!
I am go on a cruip ship Dec 2024
That's awesome! Where are you sailing to?
