a FB friend sent me this link after i made a comment about how much the brothers Finn resemble each other as they've gotten older, and i just have to say... WOW!! i had to pause it when they blended Neil's and Tim's faces together just when their mouths met, and it was amazing how much they look alike. i've never seen pictures of their parents before, but it is incredible how much Neil looked like his father at that point in the video. this is a great video and song, thanks for sharing it!
i know, i've already commented a few times, but i gotta say that this is one of the best songs to come from the Finn Brothers. not just the video, which speaks volumes, but the song itself which speaks to me even more. a HUGE WOW! i'm so impressed and totally blown away by this one. Neil, Tim... if you're reading... you guys are the bomb, you are my raison d'etre!
guess i have to comment one more time... i'm crying tonight at this song. so many things lost, so many things gained where family is concerened. this is such a beautiful song
So, now this has become one of my all-time favorite albums. Gentle Hum marks my Dad's passing, and so much of the album breaks my heart. I'm tearing up as I listen to this song. All is not lost though. Me and my older bro have forged a great relationship, and if all goes well I will be playing on stage with him around Thanksgiving.
I loved this song since the first time I heard it ^_^ You could quote every line in something other than Helvetica. That's just how ridiculously beautiful this song is.
I'm here again. I've just made a healthy, informed decision that this is my favorite song with the name 'Finn' attached to it. I constantly use it as a reference point when discussing 'how to write a great song'. Vertical & horizontal melody maximum penetration, structure, vocal harmony, lyrics. 'Once again we'll breathe in the view', everytime I'm lucky enough to be somewhere beautiful in the world, I find myself humming this line, and I still haven't been to New Zealand yet. Someday I hope.
Absolutely Timeless. This album was released when I was little and every song has meaning in my life. Can't imagine a world without Neil and Tims music, if a third Finn Bros album was released I would die of happiness. Another thing, when's the next CH album going to happen? Has it been shelved? I hope not because I've only been waiting six years (!)
Thank God. I thought the world was void of song writers. "f" American Idol and the like. We need the Finn Brothers and more like them. God Bless the song craftmen.
for some reason, Crowded House and Neil Finn have had an emotional impact on me and my life, so maybe that is why i've been able to let go of all the crap from the past, and keep on keeping on. thanks, Neil and friends (or should that be Frenz?)
god i love this song, and i've just heard it! LOVE Neil's hat trick too. i have to wonder, is that him at the end as a child doing the same trick?? that black hat looks so sexy on him! :-)
When this album came out, I really like a few of the songs, but I just couldn't get into a lot of the songs. A few years later, after trying and failing for years to reconnect with my somewhat estranged brother, the rest of the album really started to hit home. You see, my brothers and I are all musicians, but my youngest bro, perhaps the most gifted of us, stopped playing. And we just can't be in the same room without tension anyway. We will probably never have what the Finns do and make music
Is this the band that did the cd "From the Well"? If so where can I get it? I loved it!!! The band let you download it for free but I can't find it anywhere.
i know i don't know you and your situation, but i've had my own situation with my sisters and parents. don't let those situations stand in your way, and always try and rectify any bad feelings between you and your siblings. I've been called "the peacemaker". we're all good now, but there are still issues that come up. i hope you and yours can mend the fences and become one again, even while remaining single (if you know what i mean).
quick question... are all the kids in the video (chasing bubbles, throwing leaves outta the basket, hoola-hooping, spraying champagne from a bottle, etc.) from old Finn family videos that have been spliced into this one? some of the old shots are obviously old family videos (Neil and Tim in the little car, Neil (i think) being picked up by his dad, Tim (obviously) introducing his little brother to perform in front of other kids). but i cannot tell about the other shots. educate me, please?;-)
Two wonderfully gifted brothers who have given so much to the world of music and have NEVER forgotten where they've come from and who they truly are.

This is a brilliantly crafted song. Every detail. When they take it up a key at the end, it knocks my socks off. It doesn't get much better than this.
Two of the greatest songwriters of all time!
Aotearoa!
I think my heart has melted, this song is so beautiful.

Great Great song, °°°°°
Greetings, Christopher
And it has to be clear...the FINNS' are my absolute favourite...above The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Simon & Garfunkle...all the music I love. XX
Great video from 2 of the most under rated musicians in the music biz.
Not really underrated though, very highly respected in fact
Nicely put....so true,so true.
Some of the progressions on this tune groove so hard! 2:10-2:18 is just solid!!!
I'm a Finn Brothers fan but I've never seen this video before. And really good it is too.
In young and I love them probably because my dad likes them and he played their albums a lot
It's hard to pick a favourite from the Finns, but this has got to be up there...
Thank God. I thought the world was void of song writers. "f" American Idol and the like. We need the Finn Brothers and more like them. God Bless the song craftmen.
Great song, great video!
fantastic album

They mimed the lyrics backwards to sync up with the vid, great stuff, I love the Visconti version too..
Their dad joined in!
everyone is here,,,,,,,, is one of my best albums ,,,,,and some shit nicked it
Yeah there's a documentary on Neil Finn on youtube somewhere and it confirms that these pictures are The Finns when they were kids! :-)
Only 44k views is obscene!!! So much crap getting millions of views and this musical perfection sits here on TH-cam basically ignored.
That is ridiculously good
Priceless :-)
god i love this song, and i've just heard it! LOVE Neil's hat trick too. i have to wonder, is that him at the end as a child doing the same trick?? that black hat looks so sexy on him! :-)
Love this!

Makes me homesick for the Kauaeranga.

The Feel of Family.....
@anythingfinn
Right on. I've nothing against the Beatles but The Finn's could give them a master class I reckon
Not really. You wouldn't have any Finns without the Beatles. They learned everything from the Beatles and took it and improved. All good.

The Brothers Finn were on 60 Minutes? When was this?
In young and I love them probably because my dad likes them and he played their albums a lot
Brainwashed? Good :)
