A French Canadian Independence War? - Project Bourbon Episode 2

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 4 มิ.ย. 2024
- Welcome to the Second Episode of Project Bourbon. An Alternate History featuring the Napoleonic wars.
Our Point of Divergence lies in the War of Spanish Succession, where the French gain a total victory, allowing for the monarchies of France and Spain to unite, creating the Bourbon Empire.
Due to their unity, when the French Revolution inevitably begins, the Spanish also fall to revolution, expelling the monarchy to their massive colonial empire.
Due to the brazen actions of the Bourbon monarchy, the territory formerly known as New France had been spilt into the Louisianan and Canadian Viceroyalties. Due to their distance, development compared to the mainland and general frustration with the Bourbons granting the British back their old colonies, the Viceroyalty of Canada was the first Viceroyalty to revolt against Bourbon rule in America.
Will Canada become a new power in America? How will their relations be with their southern neighbors of the United States?
All these questions and more will be answered in Episode 2 of Project Bourbon!

I really think the U.S is going to join Canada against the Bourbons because for the U.S this is the perfect chance to expand and gain an ally in the process.
I loved this one. I hope the Bourbons resist and don't collapse.
Should mention that Peru was a staunch Royalist Stronghold. The thing about the colonies was that unlike the American ones, there was a much more divided Royalist vs Republican within Latin America
I don't know why I feel like Nova Scotia is going to join the US just cause they're kind of gonna be alone if they don't
Either that or the British might take them
They wanted to join the American revolution in real life.
Yeah your probably right if anything considering the state the bourbons are in and how greatly more advantageous napoleon would be in Europe the British might possibly sell it to America as they really would be focused on him that they wouldn’t want another war along with napoleon
@@user-oq7ly3em3zthey already own them
Lets go one more video of the series
I love this episode, the revolutions in Peru and Argentina make more sense now, because in our real world Peru was forced to being independent. now has Spain become into a república democrática and their “King” was now into their own lands it was enough for them. It make more sense. Great episode and keep going!!!. Este capítulo fue un deleite.
Bro why in your scenarios portugal is always annex by spain
Trust me it gets better

Who doesn't?
Honestly, I believe that with the America purchase of Canada and not Louisiana they would still become a world superpower, it would just take a bit longer and be harder. I also think that America would win in the bourbon-American war, considering how unstable the bourbon monarchy is
World great power probably, superpower ? I doubt it
Oh yeah the USA was going to reach from The east to the west coast.
@@eidoneverchoosen1171 I agree, the bourbon-American war would just be the Mexico-America war but longer
Agreed not to mention everyone who lives in the bourbon colonies would basically hate the bourbons themselves so if anything it would give America more incentive to fight them as not only would they achieve manifest destiny but would eliminate a possible means for the monarchies of Europe to influence the americas which America would be very against
Canada: Sorry, Bourbon Empire, but i want independence.
Bourbon Empire: NO!
Canada: Sorry.
thanks for releasing this on my birthday!
You're welcome! Happy Birthday!
@@LoreDad thanks!
In my opinion, Iberia will break its alliance with Napoleon because it sees him as a traitor
I don't know what you plan for Portugal and Brazil, but I'll give you some tips, despite the independence processes of South American countries with clear inspiration from the French revolution, the Brazilian elites were only interested in autonomy, the option of a revolution made no sense to them, mainly because their interests were served by Dom João VI when he established the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and Algarves. Mainly a republican revolution, the elites only considered independence after the liberal revolution in the city of Porto In Portugal, which forced Dom João IV to return to Portugal and also to reduce Brazilian autonomy, which at that time was already in the status of Kingdom, then the elites would support independence , but convincing his son Dom Pedro I to stay in Brazil and proclaim himself Emperor, incredible as it may seem in all of Brazilian history the force with the greatest progressive character, especially In Enlightenment ideas it was always the Brazilian army, not the elites who were always reactionary until they could no longer.

Ok i'm a bit disapointed in the Canada purchase but it's rather logical. Although going forwards i hope you won't repeat the trope i've seen of America be so much better at assimilation than British Canada, French Canadians end up just assimilating to American culture which is a bit unplausible for many reasons : the cajuns and Franco-vermontois are not fully assimilated as of today and certainly were not by the second world war despite policies like the ban on French schools in Louisiana. 2nd: Canada did try to assimilate the Québécois and this has failed 3rd: Canada is not too good to settle for Americans coming from the south because of its very harsh climate. 4th: Franco-Canadians had one of the biggest fertility rate making them a demographic powerhouse despite their huge initial disaventage. in this TL the French had time to pump out more settlers between 1761 and 1789 which would alleviate this disadvantage somewhat. 5th: Irish migrant to America could be interested to settle to Canada being catholic so the Irish boost to Quebec demographics would not be completely gone.

Loredad when ppl mention united Iberia: trust me bois its gonna get better
Also him: yea they totally forgot abt that Roman Republic hint I dropped in ep1 lol
The nobles joined napoleon irl.
The jacobins wpuld runaway and go to america and canada where trouble would happen.

What exactly changes in Peru for them to declare independence? In real life they were the most fervently royalist and its governing elite had good reasons to fear an independent revolt as the last time they had seen that happen it was spearheaded by natives.
My logic was that because the monarchy was telling Peru to move their garrisons and army to fight a war far away from them despite their concerns for a native revolt they refused to and effectively declared independence by doing so. Thus dynamic is kept in mind and will be relevant later
@@LoreDad Makes sense, that situation is very unlike what we saw irl so I can understand the very different response.
Maybe Iberia could invade Morocco to control the Strait of Gibraltar and be able to blockade the British navy in the Mediterranean

America expended a lot in this episode Florida Canada?
Wow they are gonna take all of bourbon north America
Why would Quebec even consider rejoining the French that's just dumb
I figured that because Britain, the Bourbons and the USA all want them dead, they thought they’d go with their best option of aligning with the French
