Thx 4 the in depth explanation of code P0128, this code just came on my Honda Insight and wanted to know what it meant and I went to many google searches and none really explained all of the causes like yours (I mean numerous, many etc...) you're the man, Gracious ;-)
hey man, im getting p0128. if it is the fan running alot even in cold temperatures what can be the cause, is there something like a fan sensor on the fan or something else that may need to be checked or changed. thankyou
I just got this fault code, but my thermostat is maybe a couple months old at most. Is it likely that I need to replace the sensor, or would it probably be the thermostat again? Edit, in case this helps: my heat is working fine. I actually had it on pretty high when the check engine light came on. The engine temperature gauge was showing that it was running cooler than normal then. Everything seems to be working fine since then, besides the increased fuel consumption.
Thank you. I now feel like I'm not just tossing parts at it. Mine was quite low on fluid so I'm thinking air pocket. Then I'll get a thermostat if that doesn't solve it.
Great video. I subscribed. After replacing thermostat and coolant temperature sensor, my vehicle is not reaching the operating temperature, and the heater blows warm air only when temperature is set for 29 C. (84.2 Fahrenheit). I installed OEM parts and looks like the Thermostat is defective and is staying partially open. I order another OEM thermostat. Could you please advise how to test it before the installation.
What if your heat works tho? I changed my sensor my thermostate and wire harnesss and I still get the code my temp drops to C and fan turns on my A/C don’t work but my heat still if I clear the code the A/C will start back working and it a come off of C but engine still doesn’t warm up
Maybe it’s a thermostat rationality issue if you can replace a thermostat that might help it thermostat is stuck in open with agent starts it won’t begin and close the loop that’s the age it will be warmed up for feeding it’s going to the radiator as a result it’ll run colder than required and this cord is for to the heater core if the heater core is supplied with cooler coolant then it’ll have an issue with producing shit. And this point the translation option for Apple sucks so much I’m not gonna give any more time try to explain I’m probably wrong have a nice day thanks
So i have a zzp aluminium thermostat, i just changed both sensors and the cod went away after the sensors were changed, but a day later fan kicked on but no engine light, car also makes it up to full temp at idle, system is fully bled to my knowledge. So what now? What could be wrong ?
On my Chrysler Town and country 2013 the remote starter stop working if the check engine is on . As soon as i reset the code and the check engine light is off, the remote starter works fine.
Got my thermostat replaced almost 2 months ago. This was after noticing my temp gauge stayed at the coldest position all the way left (2017 gmc terrain) and later the C.E.L came on with code P0128. A few times since, with a couple week space in-between each time, I noticed the temp gauge would stop working or stay at the coldest position for a brief period (less than a day) then start working again. Just yesterday the gauge stopped working again. And today the C.E.L came on. I scanned it and code P0128 came back. Also the fan stays on for a minute or 2 after the vehicle has been turned off (same thing happened the first time when thermostat was replaced) Could this be a faulty thermostat that I bought to replace the old one? Or maybe a sensor?
Give me a few more ideas.... I have a CEL 128 and I've replaced the themostat and the coolant temp sensor 2 times for both of these and the code won't go away??
@@8020Media cooling fan is working and I changed intake temp sensor.... No luck , and I checked with a service department and gave my vin and they said there was no update to PCM.......
Mine reaches the operating temp but with the heater off. I’ll see what I get after I change the radiator cap. Noticed that was bad…..the heater works right away but the car doesn’t keep operating temp. Maybe because I only go at 1500 rpm’s
@@8020MediaI replaced the cap, that erased one of the codes. The engine still takes long to heat so I’ll replace the thermostat and yes there is a engine light/code on for low coolant temp
Yep! I have a 2020 blazer that did the same. I said no way and changed it myself along with the temp sensor. Pain in the butt but worth saving that much.
Okay, let's assume that I've changed the thermostat. The engine is cold. There's new coolant in the system and it's also cold. How will the PCM know? What's going to turn off the check engine light?
You can delete the stored code(s) which will get rid of the check engine light. The other option is driving the vehicle until the engine is up to operating temperature. Once the ECU detects the problem is no longer present, it should automatically get rid of the code and CEL.
Thank you so much straight to the point and broke down the causes fixed my friends car thanks to this video

Probably the coolant temp sensor - if the sensor is bad and sending wrong readings the fan might think it needs to stay on.

Follow wire from sensor to harness n rerout
My temperature gauge works sometimes and other times not at all. Should i change sensor first before changing thermostat
A - That would be a good starting point!
Heat works and temp gauge is pegged normal. Is there a way to test the sensor?
S - Are you getting a check engine light?
@ yes and code. I reset it and will monitor. Maybe sensor and is faulty?

Can this result in remote starter to stop working in a chevy blazer?
A - Not likely.
On my Chrysler Town and country 2013 the remote starter stop working if the check engine is on . As soon as i reset the code and the check engine light is off, the remote starter works fine.
Does the code need reset or will it go off over time (after replacing thermostat)?
C - It would be best to reset, but it will go off after being driven for 50-100 miles if the issue had been addressed.

T - It certainly could be a sensor related issue. Sounds like it is intermittently failing.
Someone just told me could possibly be a small leak in the thermostat housing. Could this be a possibility as well?
T - Could also be a possibility. However, the temp gauge fluctuating points to sensor.
Change temp sensor common on those trucks

Can p0135 and p0030 be caused by p0128?
M - It's possible.
Can you still drive the car if you have a bad thermostat
J - you can, but not recommended. Keep a close eye on engine temps. The last thing you want is for the engine to overheat.
Do this cause check engine light?
Yes, any sort of active fault code will cause a check engine light
Can we still use the car with this code?
M - You can, but we wouldn't advise driving on it for very long. Make sure to stay on top of your coolant levels if you are needing to drive on it.
