Nice change of pace, i grew up next to an ironworks in the midlands but was not as scenic as this one

A fascinating history there! The site is so well presented and preserved. The museum tells the story of the mine's contribution to the industrial revolution well.
It really does, a great and interesting explore, love the way they have told their story and you're able to walk through the cottages and the re enactments it's just a great place to see! Thanks for commenting!

Woah, what a cool interactive experience. Love the history too. Seeing the changes in the living quarters throughout the decades was also really interesting to see, glad they were able to show something like that. Amazing!
Industrial history, as a rule, bores me to tears. So thank you and well done for keeping my interest through out the tour. Nice mixture of history and narrative. Nice as well that the sound came out well from the sites in house video. 👍👏

Loved the Ironworks tour! Lovely stroll and your narration relaying history was spot on. Some of the worker history here in the US (especially mining and farming) had similar history with the company stores. Still loved the tour of the store and the whole ironworks though. Thanks so much for bringing us along on this tour of your area's past. We loved it!

What a great place to visit, so much history and information, a big step back in time and its always good to look back at the hard ship that others suffered to make us realise the comforts that we take for granted today. What an amazing piece of history. The displays there are top notch and it didn't look there were too many people there to enjoy it. The stonework and construction was incredible, almost like a castle's. Top notch work as always!

I saw a BBC documentary about this place years ago. It was done by a guy who goes all over the UK by rail using a tourist book from the 1800s. I can't find what the series was, but I will look and try to comment if I can find it. Keep exploring!!!

Look's like an interesting place to visit, love the old cottages, it was a very basic lifestyle back then, proper living with none of this modern day shananigins and over expence of everything, another to do for our list. Snowdon slate work's is a similar place and very interesting, also has a boat and train ride, thank you for your efforts and atvb to you and your partner.

A great tour 👍👍 good to see such a site actually being maintained instead of left derelict and abandoned. Loved the history on this place, must have been a tough place to work, probably why the company kept you spending your wages in the company shop. Tied and unable to leave. The lighting show was pretty cool and gave a nice insight into the sites workings. Big thumbs up as always 👌👍👍

I thoroughly enjoyed this one, loads of history 🤩 Really interesting, thank you 👏Btw, Blaenavon is pronounced Blaen afon, which means "River's Head", as it's the source of the Afon (River) Llywd, which feeds the River Usk 👍

@@PinnedonPlaces Ha, ha, no apologies necessary 😉 I just thought you'd want to know 👍 Fun fact ... when the Anglo-Saxons (now English) took Wessex, they heard the locals (Welsh) saying "Avon" about a great river passing near Bath. So the Anglo-Saxons named it the "River Avon". Little did they know they had actually called it "River River" 🤣 The Welsh still have a giggle about that today!

Excellent video marred by only one thing. The pronunciation of Blaenavon! Nobody in that neck of the woods says BlaenAVON as in river Avon. Its pronounced as to rhythm with HAVEon!
