I agree. So u can imagine my disappointment when I saw him live last year and he'd blown his voice out from, I'm guessing, partying too hard thr night before.
@@raveballs true. I guess I just find it a bit mystifying because unlike other stars who went down the drugs and hedonism route, the more you watch Evan in his prime, the more you realize how smart, caring and normal he is, even when on substances. He seemed always happy with the simple things in life and very self aware. Not the usual troupes of self destruction. I guess he just had a very particular kind of out of control self distraction. @@moonmonkey999 good luck. i saw him in L.A. at the wiltern (it's on TH-cam). two years ago and it was horrible. he'd lost his voice. i was SO looking forward to seeing him perform It's a Shame About Ray in its entirety, but i regret wasting all that money for the show. he's hit or miss, so hopefully you'll be lucky and catch him on a good night.

Evan is such a unique singular human being. I love the music he's made over his life. Him as a person? For me, he rides this really fine line between being charming....and obnoxious. He's a good sensitive person...but he'll tell you what he thinks regardless how it makes you feel. He was actually just a guest on the podcast 24 Question Party People...hosted by Yasi Salek, who also hosts Bandsplain. And the ENTIRE interview he was just veering from genuinely charming to a bit annoying. But never going too far in either direction. The decades of substance use has also fried his brain a fair bit...but he's still oddly sharp in a way. Complicated complex person. But hey...I like people like that.
Yeah pretty much agree with everything u said. Love his music from the 90s. Saw him perform IT'S A SHAME ABOUT RAY in its entirety last year in concert and it was rough. His voice was totally blown out. His guitar playing sounded great at least. Met him briefly before the show and he looked very haggard. The Linda Lindas, a group of teens, actually had a way better set, which shouldn't happen. That all being said, RAY is in my top ten albums of all time.
This guy is a total enigma. Such a fast mind, and an one of the greatest vocalists of all time.

@@raveballs That is part of the enigma; how a guy with everything somehow faded away?
@@juzs6893 substance abuse & addiction issues, while not seeking professional help or therapy? Not really an enigma lol
I still love Evan though...

this is so good, i cant watch too much of it. it makes me too sad. those times had so much potential and nowadays has nothing.
Yeah, exactly.
I feel the same way. The 90's were so awesome. I loved them. Now shit feels depressingly hopeless.....
This is the result of a life with no repercussions…and I’m a fan. This is affluenza.
this rules
It really does
Who knew Evan was a pro?
now watch the interview between lewis largent and pavement
@m1g0t0 who cares about pavement
2 ppl having different conversations. Awkward.
back when mtv played real music
What happened to The Outdoor Type?
Just the interviews are uploaded. Less of a chance of copyright strikes.
He was never the outdoor type
Odd bloke Evan
What drug is he on?
He’s high on life baby!
Could be Robitussin DM.
Yes
Courtney...the worst drug ever.
He had a bad crack cocaine addiction
Grunge could never last because it is all about money
He wasn't that term...most grunge band hated that term. this guy is a hippie. The music was indie rock.
Politics can never last because its all about money.
This was not grunge my dude
