I loved David’s comment of, “What are they doing to my baby!?”, referring to the train station! I agree completely! That station is so iconic and visually so important, but hope finish the project quickly and not too crazy of changes. In my opinion; getting that open quickly should be high priority for Disney.
The theming on the ADA elevator will be so spot on to the Haunted Mansion we will "forget" it is new in no time. "Undertakers" cottage would be a delightful theme, IMHO.😂
I wonder if the Pixie Hollow refurb has anything to do with the 70th being that Tinkerbell has such a deep rooted connection with the park. That would be awesome if it did.
Sod is grass. The brown stuff around the trees is bark. When you buy pre grown grass for a lawn it’s called sod. You can buy bags of bark at any home improvement store.
Shhhh. Don’t interrupt David’s reporting with facts and information. 😁🤣😉
@@WindowtotheMagicdo you just post this everytime someone corrects a simple mistake David made?
Brown stuff is bark…but the proper name is mulch
Yeah, I was so confused when he kept calling the mulch sod.
@@daydragoon331
So in regards to Jungle Cruise, not only is the ruin coming back for the tiger, but there were big archs that surrounded that scene the boats would go under, becore the tiger and after the snakes. If you look at old povs youll see the pillar and archs
Yes. I think that is coming back
@@FreshBakedDisney I was wondering do you ever do reviews on the food in the park ? Or like even the cookies that are freshly baked each month ?
I agree with David on so many things, and Tom Sawyers Island is a big one. I always spend some time on the Island to get a few moments of quiet.
I would be disappointed if I bought tickets and saw how much was under refurbishment! Thanks for informing us
Sod is green grass, brown is mulch.
Shhhh. Don’t interrupt David’s assumptions with facts. 😉
According to my CM daughter, they are working on track in the diorama. Probably also painting the station to prep for the 70th. Supposed to be done with the exterior in time for Candelight.
Thank you 😊
That was the original plan they were doing for the railroad for the section from Tomorrowland to Main Street and it has been extended now all the way to Toon Town station which hearing wasn't the original plan. But yea both Railroad and Small World right now listed still closed November 4th
@@wolferstein3236 is it for Christmas season for small world?
When is Candlelight?
I'm so happy to see the Disneyland Resort "plussing" some attractions, such as painting trees onto the backside of the Indiana Jones show building. Unnecessary, but absolutely appreciated. 😊 Now if only the Walt Disney Company went the extra mile on their Florida projects...
I couldn't agree more about the Train station. I was there at the parks on 9/15 & 9/16, saw the ugly brown scrim and was beyond disappointed. I can only imagine there weren't many photos being taken as per usual. I'm so happy to see the scrim up with the facade.
Agreed. I was surprised to see the plain brown scrim and wondered why in the world they wouldn't have had a "picture scrim" like they've had for years now for other buildings, which looks so much better. Have they had a picture scrim for the Main Street Station before in this recent time period, as they did for the castle, City Hall, etc.? If not, maybe they always planned to have one for this job, but for some reason it wasn't quite ready by the date they needed to close it and put up scrim, so they went with the stopgap plain brown. Obviously, that's a custom-produced item.
Anyway, looks much better now, and I'm glad they care enough to try to get everything as shipshape as possible for the 70th, despite the current state of construction walls in so many places.
I can imagine going down Main Street eating a churro and seeing Dave on the Astro Orbitor with his camera
Our Tianna’s looks so much more charming than the Florida version. So glad they didn’t go with the same as Fla…. And noticed last spring when we were there that Pixie Hollow needed some paint work so hopefully that is getting an update. Thanks for your reports! ❤
FRESHBAKED is DISNEYLAND ❤❤ so excited for this weeks episode!
Yeah, we were there last week and I was disappointed with the status of the park. Rude cast members, Jungle Cruise closed, monorail down several times, the haunted mansion unavailable for three days just because you couldn’t get into the queue unless you jumped on within five minutes of the park opening which I did attempt all three days and was able to get on for one day and then when it was our turn, the ride broke down. the crowds were out of control which probably because the weather was absolutely beautiful. I’ve been an annual passholder and magic keyholder for more than 20 years and I’ve been going to the park since I was four. I’m now 62 I’ve never been unable to get into the haunted mansion. Never. On a positive note we did several character meet and greets and they were all fantastic. My grand babies were very happy. Just taking it in stride as I know parks need to keep updated but this is the first time I really was missing the Disney magic.
Just curious: What did they do that you thought was rude?
I have some insight on the TL update. The area that has been surrounded by walls for years is equipment infrastructure. They will need to relocate that equipment to make the entrance they have been showing us for years.
I think you had the answer to both areas by the Cozy Cones with those permits. The first one you showed with the pergola is likely the area where there was a path and some seating going towards Luigi's. Adding shade and hopefully more seating in that area will be a fantastic improvement. The second permit is likely for a shade structure on the backside of the motel office, again to add additional shade and maybe more seating. Hopefully between both they get some more seating and shade as it's often difficult to find a seat over there.
FreshBaked. David, this weeks construction update shows Disney just quietly getting on with maintainance and building upgrades. I wonder what other area's they could put a wall around? Over in Florida theres a lot of people who wish they had left Tiana's new ride forgotten behind a wall. Lets hope that bad ongoing vibe does'nt spread to Disneyland. Fingers X'd that they upgrade and bring back the lighting package at "Pixie Hollow." Just what this area needs. Cheers, Chris Perry.
We rode in the tail on blue this past Saturday, thanks to your tips! I saw the sticker, and they let us in. Thanks for your tips!
Totally saw you when I was leaving Indiana jones last week. You were talking to a cast member. Didn’t want to interrupt but almost said hi haha
Haha
Haha
David can forever say he was there watching when that board was installed and I know how it feels. I do the same thing every time I ride the Jungle Cruise. I walked down that river bed before the boats and their tracks existed; I saw the inside frameworks of the crocodiles, hippos, and elephants before their mechanisms and skins. I was a teeny, tiny boy, only 4 years old, but that is the one bit I remember when my parents took me with them when their Disney executive friend invited them to visit the Disneyland construction previous to its opening.
The dig up at the Old Shop -new Porto's may be new electric and water supply, needs more water and HVAC chilled water for air conditioning. That may explain digging in the back. 10:55
I’m coming to the park during the first week of October and all of this construction makes me sad 😔 I hope a lot of it gets cleaned up before then
Thanks Fresh Baked! That was a good one! Can't wait for all of the fun stuff coming up!
Years ago the Indy building was green with painted palm trees on it too. They changed it probably around 10 years ago.
Yep. It was a staple for anyone waiting for a tram to be very aware of those painted trees.
While some my complain about refurbishments, I do not. I remember the 1990’s when Disneyland was given very little attention (particularly with painting anything above eye level). Disneyland is the #2 park in the world in terms of attendance and it’s almost 70 years old. To me any refurbishment is TLC well deserved. Bravo Disney !
I swear when I was younger the park wasn’t in constant construction like it is now. I feel like it’s been this way since 2014…where the something constantly being worked on.
Dave, the main purpose of the Silva Cells (in addition to what you mentioned) is to allow tree roots to naturally grow laterally where surface flat work is covering the adjacent tree areas. It is better for the health of trees and performance of surface slabs and pavement. 😊
Another day at Constructionland 😆
Thanks for letting us know!
I am a magic key holder and I am not renewing. The magic seems to have left for me. Haunted mansion is a my favorite and it's just not the same. The crowds are overwhelming and I used to qualify for the DAS pass. I am Disneyed out.
True fresh baked fans where are you at? 👇
Right here!! FRESHBAKED is DISNEYLAND ❤
Been a muffin since 2013 ❤️
FRESHBAKED is DISNEYLAND
Same.✨🏰✨😉
Muffin since 2017, I have met David twice. A true gentleman and the best Disneyland construction vlogger imho
When I was a kid I had very protective parents who kept us close and within sight when we were out in public. Tom Sawyers island was the first place they left us to wander on our own. We had to meet them later in front of the castle, but for a few hours we were free and felt very grown up.
Waiting for Magic Keys to go back on sale again. I’m ready to buy again!!
Same for me I don’t wanna go back until they’re selling them again
This past Thursday p.m., don’t recall the walls around Pixie Hollow when we hit Buzz. But definitely noticed the walls on Friday 9/20. Walls at Cozy Cone - just bare soil with some excavation as of 9/20.
Just FYI, “footings” are used across the board in construction. Doesn’t necessarily mean it’s something big or of substance. They use “footings” for things as basic as fencing posts and gate posts.
Yes, it’s fine here
Yes, it’s finally here
Another great construction video
glad to see the tail seats are back on the monorail
Nov 12.....can't WAIT. Maybe we'll see David ...
Last time I visited, I noticed the fountain in that Pixie Hollow grotto wasn't working, even though the other water features were. Maybe there's some work happening on that (wishful thinking). I have never seen the light show, so I'd be completely supportive of that, too!
Ohhh, exciting! Thanks for the update, Fresh Baked!
I suspect the Jungle cruise queue is being worked on to modify it for All attendees. The stairs going up are not the most accessible.
I bet the hongery bear is going to open when Teona is open.
The indiana jones building use to have palm trees on the walls, but it wasnt go away green it wasl ike a greenish brownish color
This much is true. Really surprised that David is not aware of this information.
Yep. It previously had a vinyl-type mural of trees attached to the side. I read that at Tokyo Disneyland, their counterpart buildings have facades of actual Victorian-type architecture. In comparison, the southern side of the show building in Anaheim towards Harbor Blvd is just exposed concrete block. So the park in Japan has taken such features to the next level.
I wonder if they're going to try to paint it in such a way that the painted palm trees integrate better with the real trees, compared to how it used to be. Almost a trompe l'oeil effect. If done well, it could be a nice improvement.
They are also working on the boat lift at Jungle. The boat shed is currently drained.
I like watching your channel
Soooo much scrim at one time! I feel it would be best to wait to go to Disneyland. Scrimland is just too much rn.
Good vid.
Really hope they dont remove pixie hollow. I got some nice core memories with my daughter there.
They are paying it
It's a shame they used the Fisher Price color scheme on the barn building.
It is a very odd color scheme.
I assume you're referring to Tiana's and if so, I very much agree. There are *many* shake shingle roofs in Critter/Bayou Country (every building, basically) and elsewhere on the Tiana attraction (lift-hill barn, right out front)...that are actual wood, and of course brown. So if this weird orange roof is "final" it would be surprising and disappointing...it really screams "You are in a kiddie-land amusement park!" and not "You are in an immersive theme park." It's also a very weird color to put in combo with yellow and green, which was itself a bold combo. Herb Ryman was Imagineering's master of color...I wonder what he'd say!? Anyway, hopefully they get up there in the next few weeks to do a faux weathered wood finish to blend this structure into the otherwise natural, distressed land.
...I will also add, if they leave the roof with thus solid/flat color, it is likely to look very dirty as airborne dust, pollen, leaves, pine needles, bird droppings, etc. will be quite visible...a maintenance nightmare. A variegated, weathered finish would camouflage all that.
@@DrStarlander It's a shame. Quite a bit of artistry and theming went into the original. Now it's just a pre-made paint swatch pulled from Sherwin William's basic designs.
Good thing I'm not planning to go until January. Hope it'll all be up and running by then.
The Main Street railway station will have to open before the first week of December for Candlelight…right?
Yes
🎉🎉🎉🎉
Disneyland Railroad reopens end of October that Allen Carter told me on messenger
Refurbland right now 😭😭
This week discount tickets will expire, so im guessing thats why they're going aggro with construction. Do not mind since maybe wait times will be low since a good amount of attractions will be down.
1205 and it was eight hours yesterday for virtual
Bet the station will have some features from it's original configuration reinstalled.
From your Mark Twain position looking at the splash head-on the top that you go through is a mouth you see the eyes a circular open mouth and a set of teeth...crude but that is what it looks like
I know you don't read the comments but I'll let you know that those tracks are new. They did them when they rebuilt the rivers of america for star wars land
Looks like they may finally be removing the foundation for the house of the future. Time sig 31:42 in your video. Right above the door in the wall you can see it.
Im seriously hoping they fix the fountain show for pixie hollow! I'm not holding my breath though.
Wow! Doesn’t the Pixie Hallow area seem big…as in a place they could reimagine for a new attraction?
BTW, when did we switch to 4k60? Nice! Lovely actually!
Why don't they just CLOSE the park completely for a month and get EVERYTHING done at once instead of making a miserable mess of everything and effing up everyone's DL experience?!? They charge full price for an inferior park experience, as so much is closed, and NEVER compensate or offer guests anything to make up for a park full of ugly walls and tarps. It takes away the magic. Park passes are hugely expensive and many people save for years to take their families there. Too much endless construction is obnoxious. Do better, Disney! 🤬 Such a let down.
New camera ? picture looks awesome. maybe my aptv software update.
Love Tom Sawyer’s Island.
So now we know, David is a tail guy!
He told us last week that he likes it in the nose, but prefers it in the tail.
At least Disneyland gives you a discount on tickets based on the closed attractions as a percentage of those open - NOT!
All that closure... and they still probably charge the same price for admission? I guess those of us standby guests can at least be pleased no new Lightning Lanes popping up to ruin our experience I guess... well except for the Pirates one that popped up.
Hi David, I'm going to Disneyland on Monday and Tuesday next week. My 10 year old is performing at CA with her Glee group. Can you do a state of Disneyland overview for me? For the crowds and rides that are down. Also what to avoid and possible alternatives. Thanks.
Virtual Que is crazy eight hours still not called for mansion
Sneaking that view of Pixie Hollow from the Astro Orbiter was a genius move. Well done indeed!
I mean, walls have footings. Doesn't necessarily have to be "big"
Maybe they are trying to save on water? Hence the turf instead of grass
As for cars land. Could the pagola permit refer to where you saw the landscaping? Could the be expanding the seating area and building a garden around it?
I hope the Tiana's in DL won't have the large mural painted on Tiana's at the MK in WDW. It's thematically off & not too attractive. As for TSI, I wonder how weather affects the island & river in Orlando? Even if maintenance is tougher in a tropical-type climate, that area still shouldn't be removed.
Frankly this is way to much of construction walls Disney should lower the prices during this time because it makes it more crowded. Like rides are down. Why am I paying all that money? It’s crazy.
Seriously HOW tf can they charge us so much heckin money when half the darn park is always closed.....
Man...im going to the park for a full week the first week of november. I will be sorely disappointed if more than Tiana's and Small world is still down.
Me too same dates 😢
Sure wish we had someone in charge of Disney who gave a 💩 about the customers
I ADORE Disneyland but in these last couple years I've been SO ok that I no longer have my annual pass. It's just not worth it IMO anymore.
I think Disney hopes the annual pass would go away.
@freshbaked I'm curious if you can see anything from the monorail which would be on the other side of Pixie hollow ?
I'm going to be honest, i think this is all because of the 2028 Olympics, which kind of would make sense, why not go to Disney land while watching the Olympics if you live somewhere that's not southern California.
David, have you ever noticed the faces on the rocks near the drop of splash Mountain?
This phenomenon is called pareidolia.
Are you referring to the open mouth at the top... pretty clear
Is Disneyland's Bayou Adventure not getting the big mural that Magic Kingdom got? I'm fine if it doesn't come here; I don't really like it.
Hello
Hello 👋🏼 How are you?
(Of course I know that you’re not going to reply, since you never do.)
when do you think world of color will be returning? whether it be WOCOne or regular WOC
Any word on a finish date for the Haunted Mansion queue and gift shop? I'm visiting the park the first week of December. Am hoping they can wrap up before then. It will have been over ten months since they started.
I know I could check the progress on your videos, but I really want to see everything for the first time in person.
Tom Sawyer island will closed for refurbishment this week to installing our dragon 🐉 beloved FANTASMIC
I ask again… can you provide a source for this information?
Disneyland news today
Painted on palm trees on Indy are not a new thing. They were just extremely faded silhouettes.
Yep. Anyone who has been to Disneyland in the last decade and a half would know that… well, apparently ALMOST anyone.
Walt also did this on San Diego. During WW2 they wanted to disguise airplane factories done by the harbor. They lasted into the 60. They were trees found all around San Diego.
It's crazy they haven't done ANYTHING to that restroom in Adventureland. I know permits and inspections are a thing but what's taking so long?!
Maybe it’s just not a priority?
Funny the first issue of plumbing and sewage started there. Perhaps it is junction for all the new sewer pipes going from splash etc...green sewage pipes.
crowds will die down when the cheap tickets expire on the 26th
Yep. Probably some 10s of thousands will be doing the "use it or lose it" for the final day of their 3 day So Cal deal.
HE HE Go to the Inland!
I know Disneyland is obviously more of a local park, but it's still a world famous cultural institution and I can't imagine traveling from out of state to try to navigate the park in this state. Refurbs have obviously always been a thing but this might be the most active construction I've ever seen going on at one time. Not exactly a good sign for someone who was pretty burned by the insane crowds and constant breakdowns my last trip.
Keep in mind that it is a nearly 70 yr old park. When projects are done they often have to upgrade older infrastructure. The original or even subsequently upgraded electrical, plumbing or other infrastructure was never meant to handle the crowds or level of usage that the park currently sees so serious new upgrades are often needed.
Disneyland is my home park very long time
I sometimes wonder, did the park receive significant damage from the record rainfall last year. There is nothing like multiple storms to reveal property weakness
What needs to be done is to close the entire park down for 2 months and do ALL construction and refurbishment work all at once. These ridiculous and continuous closures are BS. Disney doesn't offer reduced priced tickets for guests who are getting far less than a full experience. No, they are charging full price for a park full of closed down attractions, ugly walls and tarps EVERYWHERE. This is bad business imo, infact, it's unacceptable. It's been years now since I've gone to DL when there hasn't been walls, tarps, chaos and construction going on. Park passes are far too expensive to do this to paying guests who likely saved money for several years just to be able to go to Disneyland. For many, it may be the only time that they will ever get to visit Disneyland, and this mess is what they get in return. There is no compensation for any of it, and it's just wrong and not a burden that they should be dumping on to the very people (the guests) who are keeping Disney's billions of $$$ revenue coming in. It's shortsighted, greedy, and not something Walt himself would have approved of.
ADA building = Crypt
They ripped all the tracks out 4 weeks ago and they haven't touched its sense
Do you think Tiana's will open early?!?!?! Does Disney ever do that?!?!
“CONSTRUCTION LAND” not Disneyland !! Geeeeeeeze
