i can't understand the people who dislike this... there's no only ONE way to play a piece, you have to give it your own style, and lang lang really feel what he is doing, ahnd he transmit it to the audience. That's the key for a good concert, so i think this is just great
Lang Lang lacks authentic emotion, listen to Daniel Barenboim's version, you'll see what I mean. If you don't, then you don't understand what true emotion and dynamic is. The problem with Lang Lang here is that he is using too much of his emotion to move his body, when almost all of it should be used to play the piano.
Well, if you ask the folks at Mozarteum de university, they will say that Lang Lang starts create his own mozart and isn't playing the traditional mozart that he meant in his music. Whatever that means. i think i know. but isnt' that what individual interpretation is all about ? I really want to hear Lang Lang play the concerto no 25, i think that would be really interesting. it is most like the Beethoven piece and requires certain bravado, if you will and Lang will be perfect for something like this.
Wow! No more empty seats in this hall. The amazing thing is that the audience comprise both very young and very old. This is a real testimony of how popular and how attractive Lang Lang music is. I wish very much I could have 10% of his popularity, but having maybe less than 1% of his skill, I can only sigh! Anyway, Lang Lang is such a rare talent, he totally deserves it, God bless Lang Lang.
However I listen to Lang Lang, live, recorded, with video, sound only, with full concentration, as background, he is wonderful. Where other classical artists often look pained or terrified, Lang Lang seems to enjoy every note and conveys that pleasure in sound to our ears as well as our eyes. A truly revelatory performer.
I love Mozart! Sounds fantastic! Lang Lang! I enjoyed listening it makes me feel happy! The expressions I could see on your face. Those fingers wow! Amazing movement! Nicely done! Lang Lang! Thanks for playing!
for people who dislike langlang, ask yourself why is he famous and he is the one on the stage playing while you are merely an audience...im so sick of seeing people saying how he doesn't understand the meaning in the music under pretty much all of his videos on youtube... if youve been to his recital in person i ensure you its an experience that will blow your mind away.....
Wow. That is superb. He observes every detail of the score, but keeps your attention all the time with his variety of touch and subtle balance of the different parts. Some people might prefer more non-legato in the unslurred sections, but that often sounds artificial on a modern piano. I like Lang Lang's way. I was so involved in the music that I did not even notice his habitual strange expressions and theatrics.
About good music you have to get personal. But avoid doing it the wrong way. The right way will set you free from the trap of cultural conditioning, or prejudices. The soul can be seen only if seen directly.
I personally like his interpretation! Most of the trolls here demeaning Lang Lang can't even play a simple Clementi Sonata with all the style needed! I bet my sweet ass!! why can't we just enjoy his playing rather than being too critical??
Lang lang is the best in my opinion. I have heard all the greats on you tube and I think Lang Lang plays with the most feeling Very clean and precise. Baraboin is also good but I will not critique Lang Lang at all he's fantastic!anyone that critiques him is jealous and a hater
This is masterly Mozart .... beautifully clear playing full of classical poise. Not like Barenboim of Uchida but equally valid and refreshing. LOVED it !
Why are a few people talking about his pedaling? I think he pedals so lightly, and you have to remember that its not the same sound, feel or even completely same instrument that Mozart was using, Lang Lang really brings out the expression in this piece flawlessly in my opinion.
Lang Lang is at his absolute best, when he behaves himself and follows the score as he's doing right here;) He's prone to inappropriate theatrics, but when constrained by a highly detailed composer or a skilled conductor, he is amazingly good.
Here, i may forgive his "absurd bodily expressions." That is because of the beauty conveyed throughout the entire performance. IMO, it's as almost as good as Barenboim's fantastic recording. Listen without watching the video, and with well-trained ears, you may realize that this is delicate, beautiful, clean, respectful, and even humble Mozart.
I love to see Lang Lang playing! Besides how magnificent he plays the piano and his confidence; he looks like he is having a great time while conversing with the peace, enjoying the moods and the movements. Like the piano is talking to him and he responds accordingly. Very few professional pianists have this beautiful showmanship characteristic.💖
I understand your 'don't like.' Here's the reason: That's unfortunately true. 'Classical' music is rooted in Church and aristocracy, and concerns elevation, supremacy and respectability of the state. But here you have an ordinary guy not beholden to any European pretension but only to his humble poetic self or musical imagination. But Lang Lang's talents do not put him into narcissistic isolation, only into the company of Mozart, Beethoven or Liszt. Something here more philosophical perhaps: by Lang Lang, and fellow poets and thinkers going back millennia, body energy as well as movement are the foundation of all human creativity whether it be mental, metaphysical or spiritual, or biological! I hope therefore, for the sake of all culture enthusiasts, when one points to the moon, look at the moon but not the finger.
I don’t like Lang Lang either because he is too focused on his feelings like i get u can have some emotions and thats great but he’s not really looking at the piano so that’s why he broke his arm. 🤦🏻♀️
Artur Schnabel was a great pianist. I've 3 CDs of his work. But then he died more than 60 years ago, and we cannot expect him to perform live anymore. Better to invest in a living pianist like Lang Lang, who is still young, then to like someone already dead.
Lang Lang isnt my favourite pianist but I love this version. Its the second that I like the most, after Horowitz's. Whats wrong with you? Ahah and I'm sorry for my bad English I'm Portuguese btw
this was awsome!:D the best that i hv heard ever he is young i think:p but i loved him.V. it seems that it is very easy when he play this not in hurry, no presure on him that's a true pianist ps:i think his facial expressions are so funny;P
If you watch Lang Lang play, it is easy to see how some could be put off by his body motions, facial expressions, etc. But this is completely unimportant. Close your eyes and listen to the music and his interpretation. Then critique that. Everything else is superfluous. For my part, I do not find his interpretation appealing. His performance evokes nothing from me except an appreciation for the technical prowess of a capable pianist. I have heard many interpretations that have greater appeal to me. Vladimir Horowitz is the gold standard for this sonata. Mitsuko Uchida is a close second. If you disagree, and are moved by Lang Lang's interpretation, great. It is fair to state one's preference for an interpretation. But extrapolating that to a comment about who is more talented is ridiculous. They are all amazingly talented individuals who have achieved heights the rest of us can only dream of.
Western or 'classical' music is rooted in the Church and European aristocracy; not surprisingly it is devoted to 'elevation' in every sense of the word. But here you have a new comer and a foreigner, who is not beholden to grandeur or power but only to his poetic self and imagination, his extremely 'personal' style - not in isolation, but in company with Mozart or Beethoven or Liszt. For Lang Lang and fellow artistic travellers going back millennia of civilization that he comes from, the synergy of 'chi' and body motion is considered the source of human creativity, whether it's intellectual, metaphysical or spiritual, or plain biological. Does that explain his facial 'ticks' and the oddities of his playing style?
Think im supposed to be doing that as well.. but wasnt in when the assignment was handed out, so im not exactly sure what to do with it, ~ Learnt alot about analysing music, defo gonna be using it for learning pieces as well!
i sorta feel like i just found the holy grail. lang lang's mozart is fucking breathtaking and so charming. we almost dare not whisper: he almost sounds like ... mozart himself much of the time. there is an innocent clarity which is absolutely sincere and loving

@fredericfranc I get this strange feeling that if this had been performed by Ms. Uchida or a pianist you are fond of this comment would not have been made.

Lang Lang plays very well, he plays it very clear and sweet. Well done Lang Lang

Nah
Well at least one
I like Lang Lang playing...his expressions...I love that.
Piece ends, everyone´s silent.
Man with a cough: Now my time has finally come...
However I listen to Lang Lang, live, recorded, with video, sound only, with full concentration, as background, he is wonderful. A lovely sound! This young man's performance was most pleasantly entertaining. Thanks for posting this.
I love Mozart! Sounds fantastic! Lang Lang! I enjoyed listening it makes me feel happy! The expressions I could see on your face. Those fingers wow! Amazing movement! Nicely done! Lang Lang! Thanks for playing!
Great artists are great because they are honest in and of themselves! One will show the greatness even if one's not an artist by training or vocation.
This is one of my favorites.
So lyrical and expressive - wonderful performance!
The presenter sounds like he is used to present sporting events 😂
yup probably F1 😅
Lang Lang very much the man in form
He used to do Wimbledon events 🎾
Definitely 😂

well obviously you realised it sooner or later ;)
You know you're good when you get a standing ovation before starting the piece...
That motoring in the left hand is just supremely stable. WOW!
The perfect playing! Superb!
Best interpretation for Mozart!
Generally I don't like Lang Lang so much, but this is very good. Much better than my expectation. I feel Mozart!
About good music you have to get personal. But avoid doing it the wrong way. The right way will set you free from the trap of cultural conditioning, or prejudices. The soul can be seen only if seen directly.
Then how is lang lang so famous
I personally like his interpretation! Most of the trolls here demeaning Lang Lang can't even play a simple Clementi Sonata with all the style needed! I bet my sweet ass!! why can't we just enjoy his playing rather than being too critical??
Lang lang is the best in my opinion. I have heard all the greats on you tube and I think Lang Lang plays with the most feeling Very clean and precise. Baraboin is also good but I will not critique Lang Lang at all he's fantastic!anyone that critiques him is jealous and a hater
I forgot Mitsuko and Valentina lasitsa another master
This is masterly Mozart .... beautifully clear playing full of classical poise. Not like Barenboim of Uchida but equally valid and refreshing. LOVED it !
‘A simple Clementi sonata’ enough said to keep reading the comment
Like exactly, I think a Well educated and experienced Musician can decide!
Honestly, in general I don't like the way Lang Lang is playing, but this movement sounds so simple and beautiful under his fingers... Bravo!!!
Why are a few people talking about his pedaling? I think he pedals so lightly, and you have to remember that its not the same sound, feel or even completely same instrument that Mozart was using, Lang Lang really brings out the expression in this piece flawlessly in my opinion.
You can solve this by shutting your eyes. I do this often at concerts and it help to concentrate on the music and not be distracted.
I think that you are a total genius and your musicality is incredible!
Lang Lang in the best Classical Mastery of our time. Big up Broda!
das cap
My favorite Mozart sonata. And one of my favorite pieces ever.
Perfect and thanks mozart
He is the only one who can play like this in the whole universe!!! Superb!
nope, lots can play as good if not better. He is not god. But that doesn't detract my belief that this is truly an
outstanding performance.
@@Petermaguire3684 yes I agree

ALL I CAN SAY, HE PLAYS MOZART MARVELOUSLY, FOR ME IT´S ENOUGH, LOVE MOZART, END OF QUESTION...
This has appeared in the AS music syllabus! Cant wait to start learning how this piece was put together!

Best version of this masterpiece ever...just after Horowitz's interpretation!
Sorry. I don't see any interpretation there, but only SOUL, pure soul.
He puts melody back into classical music
I really like Lang Lang's performance...
I love to see Lang Lang playing! I love it to
Top shit my man. Dope performance as always.
Henle Vertag are right when they say in the description to this piece of music that its probably one of the loveliest.
I love his playing and I am currently playing this song too.

Adorable Lang Lang 🎹 ❤🙌
I don't like Lang Lang...but this is really one of the best interpretation ever heard!

I've never heard this sonata played with so much feeling as the one played by maestro Horowitz

Love this Mozart Sonata
Morceau très beau et magnifiquement joué par Lang Lang!!!!
Very his own way.But I love some moments of his interpretation
The left hand gesture at 4:00 is quite epic :-D
It's the gesture of "here is the artistry of Mozart, listen..."
that surprise me too, u like it?

music classial is very good human

flawless performance
음 하나하나가 다 또랑또랑 이쁘다 아 이렇게 치고 싶다 ㅠㅠ
1:10 beginning
@kyleclef I agree, Uchida is superb and is the doyen of Mozart interpreters...
very true
I remember the first time I saw him play I thought he was blind :)
Breathtaking. : )
@RichterThePianist so i take that you understand the meanings within mozart's music right? explain then.
i sorta feel like i just found the holy grail. lang lang's mozart is fucking breathtaking and so charming. we almost dare not whisper: he almost sounds like ... mozart himself much of the time. there is an innocent clarity which is absolutely sincere and loving
Only bad thing about this performance is announcer saying is name wrong. It’s spelled Lang Lang but pronounced long long
Do you have a link to an interview where Lang Lang admits this? Would be very interesting if that is actually true.
8:58
Awesome! One doubt. I don't think Mozart uses any piano pedal on all his piano piece. For what I know, piano pedals only started on Beethoven's time.
Mozarts pianos had no pedals, but his later ones had knee lever where you could lift the moderation.
Thats like using pedal, and even if he had`nt one why should we dont use it? we have one and it sounds good if we use adequat.
So what?
Nothing else. I only wanted to tell you the facts.
Btw there's a letter to his father where he wrote about the d-minor fantasy. "All the beginning I played with lifted moderation".
That's the same like the right pedal today.
Thanks for the info :-)
Listen to Horrowizt, he uses them to perfection in his Mozart Sonata's
Why's this been copystriked? The song is not by ingolf wunder.
Do you play as good as Lang Lang or better?
I guess he is not reading from notation book. Am I right or he is reading?
Well, that's your opinion, not the views of most people, and certainly I beg to differ. Anyway, I respect your freedom of expression. Having said that, I am kind of curious why you are still very fond of clicking on videos of Lang Lang to watch him play. Don't tell me you like to listen to pretentious and boring piano? Of course, if you like to torture yourself, what can I say?
@liana563 hmm...then it makes a lot of sense how you're watching his videos.
Está muy, pero que muy bien. No se volvió loco y echó a correr como un poseso.
Starts at 1:10
Thanks
K
@FelipeBellani2 io parlo da profana della musica,un po meno della musica classica,ma se lang lang è uno dei pianisti più quotati e famosi AL MONDO ci sarà pure un motivo...
@liana563 Lang Lang has his own interpretations. Some "real" musicians, think these interpretations are different and not at all bad.
Where was this performed?
Dear daimlerDIETER I love to listen to the piano and I also love to play it and miss it and also the piano my dad sent me from Germany a SCHIMMEL for my daughter Anika who works for you now and could care less about piano and I would love to have one again and I chose Mozart to be on my playlist for everyone to enjoy because I feel a lot like Mozart who was considered "crazy" when he did such wonderful work and was tormented by his very jealous father who did not have nearly the talent Wolfgang Amadeus had and interestingly enough my dad was called Wolfgang and my brother had more talent artistically than my dad and my father was an all round talent who also was a successful entrepreneur and betrayed the government as everybody does who is successful in Germany and in America as well and could we stop this nonsense now and create PEACE ON EARTH together and learn all together now how to feel and give Lang Lang a chance to rest a little and create a family I heard him say he would love to have please?
Take your meds brother
@dingtou5 Good luck to you on the competition!
@fredericfranc I get this strange feeling that if this had been performed by Ms. Uchida or a pianist you are fond of this comment would not have been made.
Im in grade 7 rcm and i cant believe im going to have to do this in grade 10!
In school grade or piano grade
piano grade
Oh, you play this in grade 10? I am in grade 8 and finished playing this at grade 5...
I Dont understand... Im Portuguese and I dont understand how that grade system works... Im 14 I started to play piano when I was 8 I'm playing this sonata too What's my grade 😂?
Ana Pereirinha I don’t really understand either, I think some people get tested or something every year for their grade
I find your comments puzzling, when did Lang Lang ever say that only the musically naive people should listen to him? bravissimo!!
well spoken.
his comedic act is very similar to Glenn Gould and others who showed off ridiculously while performing publicly: acting funny onstage, whispering, trembling like a madman, jumping, etc.It seems a novelty for beginners but it's an old trick to play the "inspired by heaven" and "I'm whispering things to a dead composer while playing" style.CHOPIN personally abhorred these BASE TRICKS, read his biography and learn what he thought about his pupils and other pianists who made a fuss while performing
@kcotsob thanks
you're fucking right
