    Mike great point about dropping the stupid add ons and just lowering the price of the figure.

      Thor13332 , I agree! Blue Leader (General Merrick) is one of my fave Rogue One characters. A Mon Mothma & Adm. Raddus, and Grand Moff Tarkin figure would've been great as well.

    I dunno, I haven't had any issues with the super-articulated figures. I've gotten them in some good stances and poses without any problems. Then again, I've had posable SW figures since the Legacy Collection. Mine sit down pretty well, lol. But I think you're right about how much easier it is to get the more basic figures to stand up. That said, if you work with those ball hinge joints on the legs and elbows, they can be pretty nice. I must confess, most of my figures are in static poses due to space limitations. I guess I'm all over the board, haha. Cool review, though. You make some very interesting points that I agree with. Love your channel. Please make more videos SOON.

    Michael, I like how you got us there at the end; showing the TIE and saying: "are right here in the studio."
    Reminds me of an old classic cliff hanger for a two part episode.
    You know how to keep us coming back for more.

    Those figures look so much nicer in your video than at the store. I can only guess it's because at the store, the price for all those extra useless parts is staring me in the face just as prominently.

  • @sqirlznmypantz6773
    @sqirlznmypantz6773 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I don't really have a problem with 5POA because when I was a kid I remember my Star Wars guys not being as annoying to arrange in massive battles as my Joes, and easier to quickly redeploy. My Joes were good as snipers and ninjas, though.....and I was living in Alaska when Empire came out, so we were all pretty much addicted to the Battle of Hoth....aaaannd I was living in Oregon when Jedi came out, so we were all pretty addicted to the Battle of Endor then. Great video, good keeping your word!

  • @johnr7279

    Great video and the best part was just hearing you tell the story and especially in the first few minutes. I'd be that many a collector has done what you did or some similar variation. And I'll never be sure what the deal was with Power of the Force and the unrealisticness of them. Super job and very entertaining!

    i think the need for articulation varies from franchise to franchise. I just recently nabbed Black Series Kylo Ren, and the articulation on that one is really great and necessary, I feel. He does a lot of dynamic movements in the movie, so it makes sense for the BS toy to do so.
    But for toylines like the Halo Mega Construx figures, It really isnt necessary. they're so small and fiddly anyway that giving them 12POA just makes them a chore.
    Great video as always guys.

    the main problem i have with 5 poa figures is when they have an useless pose in the arm. i bought a Kanan figure from the rebels series and his hand is sculpted turned to the right,so he holds his saber with the blade awkwardly and looks wierd. if they are gonna stick with the 5 poa at least have a good basic action pose,so it is useful. i also think you gave us a very good honest review showing both the good and the bad.

    Pao and Edrio Two-Tubes are two of my favorite figures in my collection at the moment. Edrio has the standard 5poa arms and legs, but the ball joint in his neck makes him a bit unsettling when posed with his head tilted, which really works for his character. Pao's mouth opens very wide, which is super cool 😁

    Oh WOW.... I don't even know where to start! 😊
    1) The video is awesome, balanced, funny, informative, objective, well written... I didn't expect less from you guys, and it certainly made my Sunday!
    2) Michael, you were able to voice my issues with the stupidly useless super articulated figures! Fitting them in vehicles is a pain, and takes forever...
    3) Comparing vintage SW toys with what is being sold to kids & collectors these days is necessary, and you guys have done a great job!
    Thank You for this video, a million Thanks, can't wait for the next one!!!

    Really enjoyed Rogue One, I do think Revenge of the Sith is underrated and each prequel should be considered in isolation. That said the original trilogy are my three favourites, then Force Awakens, then ROTS and then Rogue One. Off all 8 movies only 2 are duds by my standards and the last hour of AOTC is entertaining despite how bad the rest of the movie is with bizarre comments about sand....

    Excellent review. Us Swedish fans gets even more jacked. your single figure at 7.99 costs us 22$! and a 2 pack is 35$. the 6 inch black figures are 35-40$ if they even make it here. I thus get my fix when I'm stateside.

    Blue leader was fun I liked him. But yea no blue xwing. How hard would it have been.
    I remember as a kid saving up my stickers or box tops and mailing in for the Emperor. And I got Bobba Fett then found out he did nothing and I stoped playing with him
    I loved the Micro Play sets. I still have them.
    Could you talk about thoughts. I played with the Hoth one the most.

    4:40, in 1995 I was 22. I had been there "in the beginning" but actually liked Power Of The Force 2 (but only bought 2 instead of 45 from 1978-84). I quit collecting in 1984 and actually appreciated POF2 more than those Power Of The Force Kenner figures of 1985. Screw them! I was done at the time.

  • @The_Jawnski

    Gotta admit, I started my collection on Super articulated figures, and I'm still hunting down figs I need. The TFA figs were good with articulation, but crap with vehicles. Rogue One is bad with articulation, but by now 5POA has grown on me and the great detailed figures make me happy, but still, NO. VEHICLES. I have a friend that made a Blue Leader figure that was amazing, and it's great. you could probably get one customized for cheap, keyword maybe. ALSO, GOOD NEWS (maybe...) there are a few new figs coming out. Regular Ground Crew, Admiral Raddus, Galen Erso, and the black Rebel Trooper from the Scarif battle, the one Bodhi commands from the ship. Please let Pt. 2 come out soon, I need more Retroblasting.

    It’s funny looking at the 90’s figures now and all I can see is how ridiculously buff they were. However, as a kid growing up with these figures I thought they were really puny and actually wanted them to be bigger. The style back then was for action figures to be so absurdly shredded that everything was molded like a professional body builder. I think action movie stars like Arnold and also the popularity of WWF made being absolutely shredded “in vogue” in the 90’s.

    I give a fair amount of guff to Hasbro, and many of the gripes you mention for modern renditions in the classic 1:18 scale are spot on. I realize it is not your thing, but they have NAILED it with their 6" Black Series line. Trouble with vehicles in that scale is they are so large they need to also double as furniture!

    I only buy 5POA when it's on sale. The reason I do this, is because before Disney, I could get Vintage collection figures for $2 more here in Australia. Why oh why, would I pay $12 for 5POA that's loaded with accessories not even in the films?

  • @jasonknight8581
    @jasonknight8581 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    If Hasbro is so intent on two packs, or including useless over sized accessories, they instead packaged every figure with a Stormtrooper figure? That way kids have two figures that can fight, or if they pursue the line, have a ready made army of bad guys? I wouldn't even mind if they sacrificed some articulation - make their legs static if it saves on production cost and meets the price point.

  • @autoneurotic
    @autoneurotic 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Enjoyed the video. The Rogue One toys aren't a perfect toy line but for a single standalone movie I think they did well. The sculpts and paint applications are better than the Force Awakens line and and the card art makes for better display in my view. There is definitely a lack of vehicles but I'm not too surprised by that, either. You have the Black Series, the 3.75" Black Series, The Elite Series, and now 12" figures. There's just too many different options/variations for the line. If they focused on the 6" Black Series and the regular 3.75" I'd think both lines would have a greater chance of expansion and success.

  • @georgeowain
    @georgeowain 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I tend to do that now, buy two of the same figure so I have a carded one and one for display. But is it really worth it? I’ve collected figures from both The Force Awakens and Rogue One, but only two from The Las Jedi, and I’m wondering is it worth keeping the carded figures so they would be worth something in the future?

      For me it's a pretty exciting time to be a Star Wars fan. I loved the original trilogy, hated the prequels, and I enjoyed Force Awakens and love Rogue One. Maybe not my third favorite, but I'd say #4 is a safe bet.

    Does anyone have any problems with the K2 figure? I’ve purchased 5, and so far 4 of them have this issue where they tilt forward from their ankles, making it impossible to stand them up, even with the use of figure stands? I’m not sure if it is the quality of the plastic, or possibly due to recent summer heatwaves.

    I too got a job at TRU to grab up power of the force figures...we all got burned on those, we expected major collectors items and got plastic closet clutter.

      The Power of the Force got a bit better towards the end, and the vehicles are better than the ones we get today. We also got a cool Bantha, a pretty cool Freezing Chamber, and figures we never got in the original line up (Grand Moff Tarkin, Wuher, etc.), but the first year figures were pretty bad.

    I worked at TRU from 98-05 initially to get toys. I still have all my POTF2, hopefully everyone else's stuff is destroyed in storage or opened in the next 20 years.
