The Lotus Esprit S1 was fabulous even by today's standards and this particular car was featured in my most favourite film in the 007 franchise "The Spy Who Loved Me"
Absolutely an amazing car. The style is timelines. The video talks about the X180 but no mention of the X180-R. I find the X180-R to be a car of some mystery and believe there is a great story to be told there. To see a 4 cylinder esprit dominate V8's is quite a remarkable feat and shows the brilliance of the Esprit.
people are forgetting the appearances in the films: "Pretty Woman" with Richard Gere and Julia Roberts, also "Basic Instinct" with Michael Douglas and Sharon Stone which had 2 Lotus Esprits in it....
Imagine! Bmw had the 2002 turbo in 1973 or 1975. Porsche had the 911 turbo in 1975. But it only dawned on Colin Chapman to “bolt” a turbo to the esprit during the maintenance of his helicopter 🤔🤦♂️ Wow!
A true P.O.S. with very poor build quality, absolutely ZERO reliability , and terrible high maintenance and costs . Yeah ... I loved mine for 7 years until a errant driver cashed into it and destroyed it in 2004 . Damn.
want the dvd of this so bad
Just get a real Esprit, that`s easier.
@@VR-od1jl one day i will
@@joyjoJ4ever me too, and when we will, we will invite each other for a ride !😎
Fantastic documentary on the Esprit.
Best video about the Esprit yet. I drive a '99 V8SE.
Bots?
Thanks for posting. Just bought a ‘91 SE!
Eric B I had one too. Loved it! My son cried when I sold it. Enjoy!!
I love my Elise! Love the Esprit, my friend’s inspired me to buy my Elise(a little more reliable for me lol)!
Welcome to esprit ownership!
Excellent documentary.
Just got an 84 turbo esprit. White with gold decals, 25000 miles. One of the all time great supercar designs.
Enjoy every corner with a smile..
Have an S4. Great car.
So how is the Esprit holding up?
Some reasonably priced examples out there currently.
Is maintenance the nightmare it's cracked up to be?
The 95' will always be one of my favs as I like the little four banger doing it all that wonderful turbo kick the car is known for.

My favorite was 'If Looks Could Kill'
@@rwdplz1 Ahh racing against a Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo.😎
Thanks for the video!!! Perfect
I think rounded tail lights would make it look better.
The blue prototype near the end has round lights like a Ferrari 355 or McLaren’s F1.
I saw a black one in Muskoka Ontario rounds big shots
I had an Excel SE years ago, it handled terribly round corners, the arse used to swing out all the time, one of the only cars I sold for a profit.
I own three lotus including one of only two Esprit in China. 10338, pretty close to the last one
Lucky man.
@@sbsb4995 😊I am
There are some weird people documented here. I especially love the guy who said it was styled by ‘Good-ji-aro’ 😂
FODA, muito bom. Lotus Esprit é ótimo...
It seems that all the later esprits have the same tires from the factory, does anyone know which they used?
Really excellent. When was this filmed originally? I wonder if the cars are still with the same owners....
Filmed in around 2002 Peter Gentili still has his S2

Wow!
Cool video, I have a 94 S4
Lotus Esprit V8's 350bhp is actually 350 whp
great Esprit video. can I do a Chinese version for views here in China?
I own 3. Do you think I need medical intervention?
It is not F40, but in terms of price these days, it think it is great substitute.
Remember the call to owners to make this. It was a good Donington run too. Hoon let the dogs out..
There's a particularly nice example at 22:25 ;)
S4S was not the last 4 cylinder Esprit. That honour went to the Esprit GT3. Bought one last year. (see channel "yeatmc").
Love the looks of the Esprit but after driving one, I'll never buy one.
Which production year you have driven?

Rear end celica and front end lambo
The Peter Stevens Esprit tail lights are actually off a Toyota AE86 Levin/Trueno, mounted upside down
Guy in the now fits these with Corvette LS3-7 engines mated with an Audi 6spd RS6 box. 550bhp...and reliable for 15k
This is the car you buy when you can't afford a Lamborghini or Ferrari.
I've got gated 360 Modena but I would like to have V8 Esprit as well in the garage
