A few different places. Rooster Fish in close near reefs down to the South, Blue, Black Marlin and Sailfish. Cubera Snapper, Sailfish to the North. It was was of my favourite spots I have ever fished. Loved my core on the charts and friends I made. Hopefully get back there again.
I, all by myself. caught a 9 ft. sailfish in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico in 1985. Took a long time and I just didn't give up. I was very proud of this, but of course, having my husband John as a teacher taught me how to be a good fisherwoman. both surf and fly fishing. He is a fantastic fisherman and came in second worldwide for a Striped Bass that was 49 1/2 lbs. caught on an 8 pound test line on a graphite rod he made himself from a NYC - Long Island Beach in 1984. We came here to Lake Arenal planning to have a fishing business in 1991 but decided to start Chalet Nicholas B&B as there were no B&Bs at the time and the market was good for this. We were the first B&B on Lake Arenal opening in 1992 once our chalet was completed and love our business. Glad Capt. Ron has a good business now. fishing is a wonderful sport - we now only do "catch and release" unless planning to have a fish for dinner. cathy and john nicholas
Catherine Nicholas We stayed in the Arenal Lodge in 1991 and caught many Guapote and then decided this was THE place to live! Beautiful Lake Arenal is special in more ways than one. Our guests really like Capt. Ron being so close to our B&B.
I'm down here at coco now. We're you fishing near the park? When you left the harbor did you go straight across or take a right? We got some.nice rooster and day before they got 180lb sail!
