At John Lobb, one of Britain's last remaining bespoke shoemakers, little has changed since 1849. Perri Lewis unlocks the door to a lost world of craftsmanship
One should note that there are indeed two companys dealing as John Lobb. The original one is the one shown here, the other company has only bought the rights of the name but has nothing to do with the original John Lobb business but runs shops in Paris and America, even an online shop with redy-to-go-shoes.... So, if one would like to buy th real thing, he has to go to John Lobb at St James in London.
Actually, Hermes bought the international business in 1976 from the family with the agreement that the family could still make bespoke shoes in the London shop. The Hermes John Lobb business is based in the original Paris John Lobb shop which dates from 1901 and was also bespoke only for the first few years.
I just bought the RTW John Lobb Levah Sneakers. While not bespoke, they are the nicest, most comfortable sneakers I’ve ever owned. The quality and comfort is astounding.
Yes I understand what you mean when referring to the young lass, but I guess that is the way things are these days. Having said that she did appear to have a genuine interest in the subject. My only wish is that she becomes highly successful in her chosen profession and therefore becomes a highly valued customer of John Lobb. p.s. they do make marvelous shoes I am proud to say that I own two pairs and hope to own more.
Those were Robert Maxwells lasts. They also have lasts of the royal family, like princess Diana. Not this is a secret, so this might not be new to a lot of people.
Now those are shoes i would pay a few grand for. You gotta love the quality and the craftsmanship that goes into one pair of shoes, unlike the piece of crap "MADE IN CHINA" nike's that can go for thousands and thousands of dollars for poor quality junk.
you really think it makes sense to compare these with nikes just cause of the prices customers will pay? come on, nikes can resell for that price because of the design element, amount made, and public demand. These bespoke shoes are a world away from any of that.
Made in China has made-in-china's price. Don't pay $30 for a pair of shoes and expect them last as long as $2000 Italian made. It's just unfair comparison

a beautiful video!
A great British brand owned by Hermès.
They have a licence to use John Lobb name. Not to be confused with this John Lobb ltd family business. Hope this clarifies your misunderstanding.

Correct. The 2nd company is actually owned by Hermés and does not make bespoke shoes like the original John Lobb shop.
Wrong, John Lobb Paris was originally bespoke only and is still one of the best bespoke makers in the world.

matt2993 True. Value is no more or less than what one is willing to pay. Quality is a completely different argument.
If my shoes last me 3 to five years, I'm good
GGHBT now who's side are you on I wonder ....
O yes. This is absolutely correct.
my Dad steve worked for 3 years :) that man was working at his bench :D
Oh how I'd love to have a hand made pair of shoes, simply because they don't fuse the soles to the shoe with glue, they sew them
@drewk72 but isn´t it worth haveing someone built something just for you from the best materials
you would have thought that they would have got a Bespoke person to interview the workers...
Try walking in my shoes
£5000 a pair, worth every single penny and more!
the intro song...what it's called? beautiful cello
Agreed, leaving a comment in hope of an answer
That’s conditioner
what is it that he is doing at 3:40 is he waxing the thread?
@victorlenz so is the shop at Northampton any good do they send their shoes down to st James street ?
The Northampton factory is where the Hermes group make their RTW range, it’s not connected to the Bespoke makers in St.James street London
👌🏽
Is this Trickers?
