    I am glad you purchased gauges the title is a bold statement, the Correct way for bearings clearance is with a Sunnen Bore Guage Setting Fixture, with the Correct Sunnen Dial Bore Guage, ( Plastic Gauge can not be used to tell correct bearing clearance on a LS due to the Side bolts will change the clearance after the cap is installed, If you do not have the Correct Sunnen Fixture, next best option is to use a Dial Bore Guage with all the caps installed with side bolts.

    Approve of your method, but as you said earlier, not a high end build so plastigage would identify any potential issue you could face, but you have the tools, best to do it the best possible way anyway. Recommending it for the everyday rebuild, nope :)

    Couldn't you use the bore guage method with the crank bearings as well?

    I noticed in the pan shot in the beginning you do have a dial bore gauge. Why would you use the telescopic gauges at all if you have a dial bore gauge available? The dial bore gauge would remove one extra measurement, and source of error.

    Question, the main caps require torque then degrees. For getting proper measurements with plastigage or micrometer you said torque so I’m guessing don’t do the degrees just torque?

    • @wingertjake8485
      @wingertjake8485 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You wouldn't do that because after you set the degree you can't use them again you would need new bolts

    I'm confused though
    You're using stock
    And sent to machine shop
    I get checking it out a bit frfr
    But this seems a bit extra for a stock rebuild
    Yeah?

    I think brake clean works well to clean off the used plastigauge also. 👍

      It's identified as either 'brake cleaner' or 'Brākleen' - not 'brake clean'.
