Thrift store. I had a friend's child stay with me, from a Native American reservation. This was about 25 years ago, prices are a little higher, but still. He had no baggage. We went to a local thrift store and spent about $50, which bought pants, shirts, shoes, socks, underwear, coats, toys and even a suitcase, enough for a daily change for a week +. Enough to share with his siblings. So many options in a thrift store: furniture, kitchen ware, towels, bedding, clothes, etc.

I got rid of my bed a long time ago, but as a 20 something living on my own I still remember the torture and my hand hurting from putting that bed together. @@DP-zd8fr I've bought a lot of Ikea furniture. Fits my budget. And I've had good luck with mine, for the most part. Out of 10 items, I've only had trouble with one - a drawer bottom on a chest of drawers bulged down because I put too much weighty stuff into it, and then the drawer wouldn't close all the way.

IKEA is an experience. They let you in, but they won't let you out. Or at least not easily. I assume this is why the food court came about, so their customers wouldn't starve to death trying to find an exit. If you ever get the chance, definitely go, but make sure you have a few hours and bring a bottle of water. You'll need it. You go in the entrance and up the escalator, and then the 3 mazes to the exit back downstairs. And it's HUGE. Like 2 floors of Sam's Club or Costco huge. Bathrooms are by the food court.

The UK is starting to feel like Cuba (I know it's an exaggeration). With less delivery drivers we have had limited supplies. Lots of the stuff we wanted in IKEA isn't in stock, we just had a run on fuel as some petrol stations didn't get their deliveries (the media created that mess), there is talks of Christmas having issues with stocking shops so we will probably be limited in number and range of goods.
All of this is going on whilst lots of our small home energy suppliers are going bankrupt from the restrictions on pricing they can charge customers but are having to pay higher wholesale gas prices (gas has apparently doubled in price recently. I feel for the poorer families. Especially coming into the winter months).
