    Thank you for this video well done. I'm a 17 WSM fan. I do long distance shooting with my savage B-Mag. Wouldn't mind getting my hands on a hornet some day.

    When pulling bullets with this device. Use your seater die for the appropriate caliber and slightly push the the bullet down to break the tension in the neck. Then use your Inertia puller. It will be much easier on you and the puller.

    .17 hornet superior in every way. 600 fps more velocity, re-usable brass, and cost the same or less than .17 WSM.

    In fairness i was only able to test the 20 grain rounds in my Savage 93R17 BTVS . And to be honest i thought they were crap... Against my mates anschutz .17 hmr. The rifle, felt lovely in the shooting possession . Very nice trigger possession and feel to the gun when shouldered. The bolt was terrible!! Like stirring porridge with a steel stick! Having the bolt lugs at the rear was a very bad idea...... 'Don't try and fix What isn't broke' springs to mind.... Granted i only had 1 make of rounds to try, but it was enough to make me trade it against a Tikka TAC1 in 6.5 Creddmoor.... Althought my mates Anshutz in .17HMR was enough to make me change my .17 WSM to a 17 HMR as we have to in the UK..... The HMR was shooting well sub moa, yet my .17 WSM was struggling with a 2 sun moa. Not sure on how other countries get on with varied types of ammo but mine was nowhere near what i was expecting even as a 5 shot group.... I lost a lot of money. But as the say, 'Live and learn'.....

    No comparison powder wise and price of ammo might as well use 30 30

    So could a guy reload a 17 hornet with the 25 grain wsm bullet?

    A good solid piece of wood is good to pound on. Not cement or steel.

    Is the hornet rim fire ?

    What I’m most interested in learning has more to do with bullet performance on say a fox. Wanting to have as few holes as possible in the hide is where maybe a slower bullet such as the WSM is better?

      @outdooradventures1696  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for question. Either of these will work great on fox. The heavier 25 grain bullets in each tend to be less explosive than the 20 grain and will likely go through but the exit may or may not be noticeable. When the bullets have increased velocity, they tend to open and/or break apart into many small pieces and tend to not exit. Hope you will have a Happy New Year. :)

    I'm thinking you're not an experienced reloader ? more of a numbers guy.
    You have hornet in the wrong place on the graph ( on left ! Should be on right 2nd in ) a bit lacking in your detail ! Too long winded spoils the video
    Just my opinion🙏

    ok. here is the problems I see. 1. What are you hitting your bullet puller on. It really needs to be steel.

    • @regsparkes6507
      @regsparkes6507 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe, but don't you think the actual weight of the bullet has more to do with it leaving the casing ? Of course, you have to hit a solid surface but wood would be better as there would be less chance of damaging the hammer here too, I think. ( I could be wrong ) After all it's inertia that makes the bullet pop out of the case/shell isn't it?

      Plasticine is great for the puller

      I use a 20 pound weight or a piece of I beam i got

    • @traytongoodrich3587
      @traytongoodrich3587 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      And it also takes about 4 solid hits to pull 264 bullets with both the weight and I beam

      A block of hard wood won't destroy the inertia bullet pullers... pounding them against metal blocks will. The better solution is to use the appropriate collet in an RCBS bullet puller designed for use in one of their loading presses.
