Immunoglobulins: New development in the treatment of IBS and SIBO

  • One really needs to have both a healthy microbiota and a healthy immune system in order to have a healthy gut. Immunoglobulins help to restore the mucous membrane of your gut.
Immunoglobulins seem to help those who have been non-responsive to other therapies like diet, probiotics, herbal antimicrobials, antibiotics or antifungals and not really seen any results because they support the immune system vs just targeting the microbiota.
There are at least 9 quality trials in humans that have shown immunoglobulins can help. They’ve shown benefit roughly 70% of the time, in the research that's been published. Some studies have shown that immunoglobulins are beneficial in the treatment of SIBO, IBS and IBD.

Wow!, thank you, this is helpful. I look forward to my appointment with you on Feb the 7th. I got too confident recently on overloading on foods I avoided for years and abused my liberty to the anti microbial recommended in the past, which made me feel better up to a certain point. I visited my country and got food poisoning again (sibo-c). My story is some what similar to Victoria’s, leaky gut most likely and the runs for now. On low FODMAP & low histamine for now. Withering away. TTYs. May God bless your work! BTW I have your book.
    Sleepless 😊

I just started this 3 days ago and I had no side effects which in itself is great for me . With long covid I have been highly reactive to all sorts of randoms things for 4 years now.

I have been to many FM and naturopath drs ....most who have charged me at least $200 and hour. Not one has ever mentioned immunoglobulins and they know I'm immunocompromised from lyme disease and years of antibiotics. Just starting Iggs myself and hope this is the missing piece.

Would you recommend adding the irf to an existing antimicrobial regime? Or after finishing the existing treatment?

Another interesting piece of news about SIBO treatment. But what can you mean by referring to patients who quote "have IBS or SIBO or both". Surely SIBO is a kind of IBS? By the way, the word "likely" is an adjective, NOT an adverb, so it should be "he probably was" not "he likely was" .
It is a pity that people in the comments section are not receiving any answers to their questions.

Hi Michael, but does not modulating the microbiota/diet not directly influence gut immune function? It's not so separate.

This isnt colostrum (from cows milk), but directly from serum which is much cleaner and more useful in mopping up antigens like Candida, LPS, and H.Pylori which are big drivers for leaky gut
