- Pokémon is filled to the brim with little tidbits of lore and world building that may go over your head completely when casually playing. One such example is with Evolution Items: there is a lot of environmental storytelling hidden behind these objects that you may have never known about. Let me explain...

Registeel being related to metal coats is wild
But kinda true, as in another pokedex entry shows that they are pure in the Insides, being almost pure of the materials that they are made
It would only make sense that nevermeltice comes from Regice and hard rock from Regirock too

Much like the metal coat being related to registeel, I always thought Nevermelt-ice may have come from regice. Both are made of ice that never melts
My guess would be the Hard Stone would be related to Regirock then?
100% true, yeah. Should’ve included that as a little bonus fact now that I think of it

Similar to the metal coat being found near registeel's location in platinum, the NeverMelt Ice is found near regice's location.
Metal coats are also found on wild magnemite, whose final evolution (magnezone) has some ufo style design elements.
If the Metal Coat is from space, then could Iron Island itself be from space? That would certainly explain its absence in Legends: Arceus.

I always figured that trading and Evo items simply acted as catalysts to encourage evolutions that can also occur naturally over a longer period of time or under other circumstances
Same here. Trading-either with or without items-just accelerates whatever process would normally cause the evolution. Scyther can evolve into Scizor without trading holding the metal coat, it just might have to find and eat enough food that’s really high in iron or something. And Kanto, for whatever reason, just doesn’t have that. Maybe the people there just have iron rich foods shipped in from Johto.
@@Ichigo90 well Scyther isn't native to Kanto so maybe they just haven't been in the safari zone long enough to evolve
I think thats supported by Steelix, where lore specifies and that it can evolve from an onix shaped by imense heat and pressure deep underground. Considering that Steelix was one of the first item evolutions available in the wild I always assumed those were forged by that process
@@thecaveofcreatures1728 the fact that Feebas, Eevee, and a couple others like Magneton can now evolve into the same thing by multiple methods also supports this.
Like yeah there are "mysterious powers" at play but an Eevee always evolves the same way when exposed to a special icy rock of a special Ice Stone. Feebas was first seen to evolve by Beauty and later someone found the Prism Scale that had a similar effect. At the same time, Milotic and even Eeveelutions can be found in the wild in some places.
Add into that how it's mentioned somewhere that wild Pokémon seek out human trainers from a desire to get stronger. Obviously they have a natural potential and training gets them to it a lot faster, including evolution
Imagine if they gave both Hawlucha and Hariyama an evolution based on it defeating the other holding a King's Rock. Thye could reduce the RNG by having their being an Ace and/or Veteran trainer that will battle you using both (with a gimmick that uses priority/multi-stike moves to try and trigger the flinch chance).
Also, Porygon needs a 'proper' upgrade evolution.
I think a Split evolution could benefit Porygon. There's a Beta Porygon2 in Gold and Silver that ressembles a Dog. That would be cool. But Porygon Omega would also be great.
Hariyama could have a feathered belt as an evolution, and Hawlucha could miss the mask and instead sport a crest with more feathers to make reference to maskless luchadores. He doesn't need the mask anymore, after all.

@@darkdragon7210 Buddy Upgrade, maybe. "A long lost upgrade of Base Porygon. Doesn't work on modern systems". It would reference software like Clippy from Office or Bonzi Buddy, which are no longer part of the newer versions. A 2000s quirk of the software.

Honestly the metal coat from space could make sense with the legends Arceus proof. That is the first game to not involve the other regis to get regigifas so could imply they aren't made yet, so maybe meteor fell into hisui or sinnoh and Regigigas used the space metal to make registeel
And maybe the scientists of the Pokemon world later found a piece and used it's deposits to mass produce metal coats for scientific/commercial use and then later discovered some Pokemon evolve when the energy produced from trading comes into contact with the alloy
I was hoping Rhydon wearing the Protector as a high visibility vest and earmuffs as Rhyperior would get a mention, but there's lots of other fun facts instead!
Small poke tubers are the best
The idea that Iron island was once a mountain that was part of the main landmass of Sinnoh during ancient times makes sense.
Most likely what happened was at some point either erosion or some sort of tectonic activity caused the portion of the landmass said mountain was on to crumble and sink into the surrounding ocean resulting in the remaining rock formation to become the modern day Iron island.
Having not played the gen 8 games, I didn't realise there were alternate items for Galarian Slowpoke' evolutions. I always attributed it down to physiology.
While other Slowpokes fish with their tails, the Galarian fishes in the same manner as bears with salmon... slapping them out of the water with its claw. If a Shellder bites its paw, it becomes a Slowbro.
For Slowking, it's the same as other Slowpokes... the Shellder clamps onto its head.
However, in both cases, G. Slowpoke has a different reaction. Shellder excretes a minor venom (not enough to class it as a Poison type) when it bites, and these Slowpoke have a natural allergy to it, hence why G. Slowking becomes completely controlled by the Shellder as they evolve together. The venom is injected directly into the brain, causing a zombie-like state.
That's always been my headcanon, anyway.

I want to believe that the steel for Metal Coats does exist on the planet but without the technology to mine and process it they were virtually impossible to obtain. Which would also explain why they are as rare in Johto, a region not known for technological advancement.

My head cannon for the Charkadet items is that the malicious armor is the armor of soldiers that died in battle while on the flip side the auspicious armor is the armor of soldiers that didn't die in battle and lived there lives and eventually died of old age.

Weird that politoed has nothing to do with kings
He's the Frog/Toad, king of tadpoles since the original Poliwag line is stuck as tadpoles, so his kinda their king since he's the one who could fully reach being a frog. He's also like a King's Fool.
Politoed in the gold and silver beta was a completely different looking frog with a crown on its head
I find the imagery of a king or prince frog is pretty common, so I’ve always assumed it was related to that

There's also the children's story of a frog being kissed and turns into a prince.
i bet reggigaas made regesteel using metal coats, or there origin, as the base material. same could be true of regiice and the special ice i forgot the name of.

I’ve always assumed some of these Pokémon didn’t exist until man and the man made items they need to evolve came around. Such as machamp and golem. I assumed that before pokeballs and man they never existed. Only once pokeballs were introduced did they begin to show up. Then I figured over time people would release them in the wild and that’s how we find some of them in the wild.
Wouldn't the dubious disc be made with traveling the distortion world in mind. Since it was introduced in that gen and that porygon was distorted from its original form.
Yeah and I just checked bulbapedia: in Platinum you can find the dubious disc in Team Galactic HQ

Seeing a bigger and clearer image of the Galarica cuff and wreath, I noticed that what I thought were flowers are actually something else, possibly a fruit, it's shape and color remind me of the Spelon and Tamato berries.

Wait wait waiiiiit... When registeel was captured by humans in ancient times and in todays pokemon time there are lots of megal coats around, ENOUGH TO EVOLVE MANY STEELIX AND SCIZOR, does that imply it had an ancient form? Like a registeel with alot more steel to it, a primal version of sorts?

I wish they just worked like evolution stones. So many great Pokemon you can‘t use unless you have someone to trade with or two systems and cartridges. Probably one of the things I hated the most since gen 1. and they knew the system was annoying and frustrating becaus3 they pulled Mindy to laugh in our face.
They never really pulled a Mindy though.
