    Have you let it sit for a few hours and popped the oil filter off just to see if any oil was left in it? That would be the best proof of it working as expected. Reseraching this product there seems to be plenty of people saying it doesn't work as advertised.

    • @MotorsandMischief
      @MotorsandMischief  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That would be a messy way to confirm it works, as the oil filter is in upside down and would dump oil all over the engine. We can tell you that ours makes less valve clatter after this was installed and it can sit for a longer time without making any valve clatter. Is it perfect, meaning can it sit for weeks and then fire up without any valve clatter? No. And it would be silly to think it could; there's only about half a cup of oil in the filter and that's not enough to get to every part of a V6 valve train. But what it does do is provide that cup of oil sooner than if it has to come up all the way from the oil pan. So is there going to be less wear? Yes, absolutely. Getting any amount of oil there sooner means the valve train is running without oil for a shorter amount of time. Is it a significant amount of wear reduction? Who knows? Its something for sure. And for us, a little bit better is better than nothing. Maybe its a lot better. Probably the reality is its somewhere between a little bit and a lot. But we like to err on the side of caution and this helps some amount more than if it didn't have it and so for us, that's worth it. Thanks for the question!

    It's nice but for the price, I think they should be replacing the whole oil cooler with a dorman type aluminum oil cooler/filter housing so it's a fix and upgrade at the same time. They could then just make one model too.

      Have you seen the price of a Five Guys cheeseburger lately? This is pretty reasonable considering all the engineering that's gone into it. Personally, we'd rather pay for a high quality, made in the USA part that will last instead of something half the price that won't stand the test of time. But, inasmuch as everything is wildly too expensive these day, you have a good point. Thanks for commenting!

    If not, will it read as "low" ?

    • @MotorsandMischief
      @MotorsandMischief  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The oil filter doesn't hold that much oil, even when full so the adjustment in level when spread out over the surface area of the oil pan doesn't make much of an impact. In truth, it will take slightly more oil, but in reality we doubt you could tell on the dipstick. Thanks for the question!

    I have a 2012 jeep that I put an elder Brock supercharger on does anybody have the height of the Baxter oil filter adapter from the bottom of the base where it meets the Jeep oil cooler to the top of the new screw-on can oil filter and also the diameter of the new can style filter. I believe with my blower on that it's not going to have enough room in height particularly due to the housing itself but more so the belt drive

      It will, search the channel, we've got another video where we did exactly that. This particular unit is for the 2013 and older. If you use the dorman housing, you have to use the 2014 and newer Baxter unit, as Dorman updates the filter assembly to the new style regardless of what year your Jeep is. So don't but this unit, get the 2014+ one. But again, we have a whole video on it in our Cheap Jeep series. Thanks!

      The model #BAXMS-101-BK for the 2011-2013 oil coolers appear to be a little higher profile than the #BAXMS-201-BK for 2014+ oil coolers. Don’t have two side by six e to compare. Although, it could be how deep the oil cooler sits in the 2014+ JK/JKU’s since the vacuum hoses are routed differently and the dust cover is able to be put back on.

      We didn't have any trouble getting them to have a little slack and not be pushed up against the filter. This is a 2013 however, which is a little different than the 2015, so yours might have less slack. You might have missed it, yes the Jeep is a 2012, however it has the upgraded Dorman 2014+ metal oil cooler housing, so it uses the 2014+ Baxter system, which means the hose routing matches your 2015. Give the video a watch and see if that helps your issue.

    So, what if the check valve fails?

    • @MotorsandMischief
      @MotorsandMischief  26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Then it works like normal. But the check valve is in the oil filter, meaning there's millions and millions of them out there and this is tried and true tech. Also, you get a new one every time you replace the filter.

    SNAKE OIL. All it does is hold some oil in the filter. The rest of the oil in the oil cooler and the rest of the engine drains down to the pan LIKE ALL ENGINES DRAIN DOWN TO THE PAN.
    Then the oil still has to pump up to the filter, and galleries, before it starts circulating and filtering. So all this gizmo does is hold a couple of cups of oil in the filter, Sitting and waiting for all the oil to pump back up from the pan.
    The oil still has to pump up from the pan to the filter before it circulates.
    Just like any old-style engine has to wait until the oil fills the galleries. ??????? For $250.00? fail.
    My 3.6 has oil pressure almost immediately with the stock filter. Save your dough.

    • @MotorsandMischief
      @MotorsandMischief  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic to people who don't understand it Scott 😉. It does hold some oil the filter, you're absolutely right, something that oil filters have been doing for 100 years. The problem is Mopar decided to not put an anti drain back valve in these engines, so they're not gaining the benefit of having that oil in the filter. So, yeah the oil is sitting in the filter until the pump gets the oil up there, but, and this is the part you may have missed, you don't have to wait for the oil pump to fill up the filter. That's the whole point of anti drain back valves that used to be standard on cars for decades. We can tell you that there's a noticeable difference before and after install, one you can hear in the amount of clatter from the valves, so even someone with no mechanical ability can tell the upgrade is doing something. If a little less time getting oil to the valve train isn't worth $250 for you, then good gravy, save your money. But the product works, and for lots of folks, its worth the money to potentially get some extra longevity out of the engine by getting the oil there a little sooner. Thanks for commenting, Google loves that!
