A Community-Centered Approach to Transforming Violence and Criminality in the Niger Delta

  • On the 6th of February, PIND, alongside consortium members, launched the 6.5 million euro European Union (EU) funded project titled, "A Community-Centred Approach to Transforming Criminality and Violence in the Niger Delta". The project, which is being implemented through a consortium with Search For Common Ground (SFGC), Stakeholder Democracy Network (SDN), and Academic Associates Peace Works (AAPW), is scheduled to facilitate Early Warning and Early Response (EWER) training for participants across Bayelsa, Delta, and Rivers state.
    The project, which was launched by the Bayelsa State Governor, represented by the Secretary of the State (SSG), Gideon Ekeuwei, will be implemented in 66 communities, 33 LGAs (8 LGAs in Bayelsa, 12 LGAs in Delta, and 13 LGAs in Rivers State) is part of PIND's approach to addressing the drivers of conflict in Nigeria's Niger Delta Region. The project, expected to span 18 months, will also be launched in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and Asaba, Delta State.
