- It's full steam ahead for the Northern Lights Express rail project connecting the Twin Cities to the Twin Ports. A passenger train running from Minneapolis to Duluth is on track to becoming a reality after state lawmakers approved $195 million in state dollars this week.

It would be great to come back home and take a train from the airport to the north shore.

Why in the name of Sam Dickens does this trip not begin at St. Paul Union Depot, with a stop at Mpls before going to Duluth? The late, great Great Northern Railway had morning and afternoon service (Badger and Gopher trains) until 1969 with this formula. You got left out again, St. Paul.

There isn't Jack Shit in ST Paul. ST Paul is a shithole. If u get lost and wind up in St Paul.... beware the massive potholes..... they've got a new sales tax to fill in the potholes and further drive out any remaining businesses.
Tracks between st. Paul and Minneapolis are congested and slow, and trains would have to back out of Minneapolis, adding to trip times
@@cobalt8619 They would use the same route Amtrak currently uses from St Paul past the old Midway depot. No backing required.
@@a.r.gentum6517 it would require backing, they pull into twins stadium,, and have to back out to go forward. They'll have a transfer at the new Coon-Rapids Foley station.
For those who are complaining about a rail line.
Intercity & Commuter rail does NOT have Homelessness & Crime on it They have conductors. Like y’all wanna complain about Rail but then just don’t wanna complain about highways expansion. Rail is gonna solve crime before even highways. Y’all just don’t wanna complain that the fact that highways Tore through Neighborhoods. & Had jobs move out of cites. Therefore increasing crime in cites. Meanwhile Intercity & Transit in General could make space For Housing, Jobs, & emit less Greenhouse Gases into the Air Compared to Cars & Planes, & Europe have better rail service than us yet they have People from the Middle East Migrating to them.
When are we going to get back the train to Omaha & KC?

Its business has regrown to where it was before the pandemic happened. I know several people who take it every day from Elk River to Minneapolis.
@@natelundstrum4903 I drive by the Fridley station every day. The large parking lot is always empty or with less the a half a dozen cars.. Have they increased the trips from 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening?
Passenger trains on freight railways..... have been a disaster since 1971..... ask AMTRAK.
