Future Trunks was a no nonsense character. He didn't toy around or show any mercy to his evil enemies. He fought to actually finish off the threat. He truly put in the work. He destroyed Frieza in the main timeline, trained and became strong enough to destroy the Androids & Cell in his own timeline. He handled the Majin Buu problem way better than the Z fighters in the main timeline because while Majin Buu awakened in the main timeline & went through many transformations & absorptions, killed most of the Dragon Team & destroyed earth, in the future timeline, Future Trunks prevented Majin Buu from ever being born by destroying Dabura & Babidi. But then that immortal, invincible & indestructible bastard Zamasu came & make the future timeline his whole body & Zeno had to be summoned to erase the timeline to get rid of Zamasu.
If Goku simply told him about Zeno in the first place then Trunks would have immediately called for Zeno and ask him to erase Zamasu but Goku and Vegeta gave in to their Saiyan nature, let Black and Zamasu fuse and got Future Trunk's timeline permanently ruined. If they went to Zeno for help as soon as they realized Zamasu's intentions then they would only have to beat Black, which Trunk's would have easily defeated.
Definitely like the approach you make where you’re not trying to make the argument that future trunks being as jacked as he is makes sense narratively (especially his episodic power ups). But that based on what we see in the show he is, in fact, jacked AF. I always liked the idea that Trunks is the epitome of Gohans unleashed potential. And that trunks is what gohan would be if he took his training seriously.
Getting much more stronger and faster, having new powerful transformations and having more refined power and capabilities than before is the true and only manifestation of that potential being unleashed because of training and fighting experience like Goku does or the use of special rituals like Elder Kai's version or wishing to the Dragon Balls just like Piccolo, Gas and Granolah.
we need a future trunks spin off show with his xenoverse storyline. have him fighting against temporal threats and saving timelines. and give him a 1/4 saiyan kid as a sidekick. like Mandalorian/God of War

Ooo i been waiting for this. Future Trunks was a part of some of my favorite moments throughout dragon ball z and super. Going from being an unknown super saiyan to quickly piecing up Frieza, the warnings of the future and the heavy plot involved. His Super arc was chefs kiss for me even though it's hard to justify him being the one to finish physical form Fusion Zamasu.
Interesting. Future Trunks has never been my top favorite Character, but he has really grown on me over the years. The reason for this is due to the fact that, in my personal opinion, future Trunks is the most well rounded Character in all of Dragon ball Z and Super. For one, he is pretty powerful, being the son of Vegeta and all. I imagine he is pretty smart being the son of Bulma and the Grandson of Doctor Brief's. The simple fact that Vegeta and Bulma are his parents makes him both Saiyan and Earthling. And he seems to have a good heart all throughout the series.
Makes more sense for Future Trunks to have more potential considering hes a hybrid and of royal bloodline...Future Trunks has been continuously fighting non-stop emotional trauma to trigger his power ...so him getting stronger is far more justified than Gohans convenient transformations

Great Video, plus I just wanna put these thoughts out there: -I pray that we get a Future Trunks mini arc/series like the Superhero Prequel where it shows what he's been doing in that other timeline -I actually want Future Trunks to return again and this time STAY IN THE PRESENT, I mean why TF can Future Zeno stay in the present but not Trunks? Trunks is a top 3 Dragon Ball character of all time and is basically the most important to the franchise behind Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan. They could do something like Him getting his own unique form like Beast but something more unique to Trunks or have him Permanently fuse with his double in the new timeline. Remember Future Trunks is the most traumatic character in this franchise and has lost everything his master/best friend, his mother, his father, most of friends...he couldn't even have a normal life for a majority of his life. So when Zamasu and Goku Black torment/lecture Trunks about his tampering with time for the greater good that caused all his loved ones to die there by technically creating Goku Black/project zero mortal, Trunks would be conflicted with so much regret, sadness, denial, Anger, and Pity that he would then finally snap and stoop low enough to being a sinner (which keep in mind, Trunks is basically the most HEROIC character in the franchise and him now throwing all that away and embracing being a sinner to finally end everyone's suffering by killing Goku Black and Zamasu) Plus if you think about it, Trunks is never usually the one to get pissed during a fight and taunted into desperation for more power but it's a first that it happened in this arc. Remember ever since the end of the Cell Saga, Future HAS NOT BEEN SLACKING ON HIS TRAINING and even stated he trained has "trained himself to death" and all he could get to was SSJ2 when Fighting Dabura and then being able to have SSJ3 levels of power in that form without even transforming into a SSJ3 and Trunks has been stuck at that limit ever since. My thought is that after he used Grade 3 against Vegeta Trunks believed he needed to tap into that power for raw strength since he was desperate for more power to kill Goku Black but needed to overcome the slowness/it's downsides, and plus he did train with the Supreme kai and get somewhat of Godly KI and Trained with Vegeta's SSJ Blue and got a grasp of Divine KI or what it truly is. So in a desperate move Trunks tries going all out in SSJ2 and tries to combine the little sensation of the god ki he encountered/adapted to with his training with both Supreme Kai and Vegeta and also combine the raw power of Grade 3 + the pure sorrow and rage he felt after Goku Black and Zamasu was s*** talking to him saying he's a sinner and that everything that happened was his fault which trunks somewhat found kinda true. All that then accumulated into SSJ Rage (it makes sense that grade 3 was combined since when he 1st went grade 3 he super pissed of-like rage, had white pupils-like rage, later gained pupils back and had some control over himself-like rage, had some of the most spikiest hair ever-like rage, and got buff for a bit-JUST LIKE RAGE!, Rage also got buff for like 2 second before reverting to a slightly more buffed state/physique than his base/original body type and shape). The Spirit Bomb Sword though is a little tough but I think that when Trunks got his sword broke by Merged Zamasu and when he used ki to make a new, stronger, and ki enhanced sword that glows I think he accidentally unknowingly absorbed some of the ki from the people surronding him which later on with their ki still connected/absorbed in trunks sword they gave more of their ki to trunks with HOPEFUL spirits poured into their ki Trunks then took the extra ki that everyone gave (since their ki was already in the sword from ealier when trunks used ki around him to forge a new one) and made a SIMILAR move like the spirit bomb and absorbed that spirit bomb-like power into himself (like what Goku did in the Super Android 13 movie) and got a huge buff, plus maybe the whole ki absorbing thing could be a SSJ Rage exclusive technique like SSJ God can heal wounds automatically for example? Anyways this was MY and probably the most logical explanation for SSJ Trunks and the Spirit Bomb Sword, I pray this makes sense to you all.
I really really really hope Future Trunks gets a new form similar to beast Gohan, because Future Trunks is without a doubt my most favorite character in the franchise, and if the upcoming super movie is about him then I'm going to be extremely okay with that
I feel an argument could be made to say Trunks has more potential than Gohan. Trunks comes from a saiyan elite, which are considered to be naturally gifted and powerful warriors. Just based on class, with (seemingly) little training, Vegeta was far above Raditz. Trunks could carry some of that Elite blood, which is why he is able to get such powerful jumps in strength
I’ve been asking about this let me sit down I’m so glad you are making a video about this I remember asking in twitch the other day! 😊 Awesome video idk in my head I always felt like Future Trunks should have the same potential as Gohan or even more I’m not sure if this plays a roll but if Vegeta is considered an elite and had a high power level when he was born trunks should also be there and should have more potential than Gohan because Goku would technically be considered a low class; I know that can really mean nothing it all comes down to experience and training but I feel like he should have a higher potential than Gohan for sure.
I know this video is about Trunks, but ever since the Broly movie, I have theorized that Gohan is a mutant; like Broly is. Trunks has a lot of potential, but he’s the only one amongst the main cast who’s been highlighted a lot is Gohan. It would explain how he’s able to power up super fast with minimal training. I would genuinely watch/read a Future Trunks spin-off set in the future with a completely different/unique threat. Something less dramatic than Zamasu, but maybe as strong as Buu. Technically Broly is still alive in the universe that he went to with his duplicate self. He is just trapped on Vampa becoming more and more barbaric.
It would have been interesting if in future trunks timeline that through using the z sword and mastering it that he pulled on old Kai power awakening his untapped potential.
I honestly think that the trunks’ super saiyan rage form and Gohan’s beast form are products of them being hybrid saiyans. Them getting those forms make sense to me. Both forms are very similar to super saiyan 2. They both have dual color in their auras. And they are both activated by rage. I personally think that trunks’ super saiyan rage form is a lesser version of Gohan beast’s form. And that potentially he could tap in to it also.
a little power scaling i noticed here that i never have before goku black arc if, ss2 trunks = ss3 goku and, ss3 = 4x ss2 then, base trunks = 4x base goku also, if, blue goku = ikari trunks then, ss blue = 4x ss ikari always wondered how the ikari form stacked up, and this somewhat answers it
Send goku and vegeta on multiverse missions. Send piccolo and gohan throughout the universe. Give goten and trunks earth and some universe missions. Focus more on goten and trunks while giving us flashes of the other ones in their missions. Make the threats to big for anyone to help anyone else allowing goten and trunks to grow. Have them grow without fusion
Not to be disrespectful but toriyama pretty much abandoned both goten and trunks. Even future trunks got played in his own arc in super. but now that its in different hands i could only hope that they can finally explore the characters that was pushed to the side.
super saiyan rage is basically the divine blue power mixed with ascended saiyan not muscle one. and you can say it just false super saiyan blue. but it can push further more power without any limitations. which means it's final form of future trunks. all we can say future trunks is a asura wrath from Dragonball super
I'll just say it, if Goten actually got character development, he would have the most insane potential of any saying outside of broly. Literally the youngest super Saiyan and we still don't know how he unlocked it. Just at his mom was strong enough to force him to transform during a sparring match
I mean, if you compare both versions of Trunks he became a Super Saiyan at a younger age than both Gohan’s from their respective timelines without as much training. I’m sure the potential is relative between all the hybrid Human/Saiyans

Saiyan hybrids not matter who has greater potential than pureblood saiyans yes. They have the enhanced strenghts and capabilities of saiyans but humanity and emotions from their human side that allows them to tap into great power and deeper potential (aka Super Saiyan) more quicky that normal saiyans. Gohan obiously is the greatest but more known example of that, but that doesn't mean another hybrid like F Trunks can't have the same capabilities; he has that limitless potential too.
It does make sense that Future Trunks has the potential since he's a Saiyan Human Hybrid and his dedication to training since he grew up in a timeline that's been ravage by the Androids.
According to Toriyama depending on your environment is also crucial to your potential bad environments bad potential or will stunt your growth that's how s cells work
One thing I would have to say is that Chichi is the ox Demon Kings daughter and bulma is just a smart scientist daughter. So gohan has demon blood in him also…… he should be way stronger than trunks being half human.
The saiya-jin body adapts and learns on its own so trunks fighting anyone stronger than him his body adapts to it,Broly still exists in future trunks arc wonder what he would have been like if they had met. I hate Future Trunk's Super Saiyan Rage. I prefer Gohan's Super Saiyan Beast to Trunk's Super Saiyan Rage. Future Trunks was never my favorite character, I didn't really like him, at least not as much as the other characters, and I don't really like the character because of how he just brought in, and he is never used again. If you are never going to use him again, please just kill him off. In the Goku Black Arc, when Future Trunks and Future Mai went to another timeline, I was upset and disappointed because I wanted Future Trunks to stay. Like, what if he was in the Tournament of Power? If they are never going to use him again, I just want them to kill him off.
But if Vegeta could have achieved Grade 3, wouldn't that have been powerful enough to wipe out Cell with just the final flash? Would Cell still have been able to dodge it and not get hit head on like he did?

I think trunk's SS rage form can be explained by saying it's his god KI leaking out since he trained with supreme kai & battled goku, vegeta, black & zamasu who all have that KI. it's not a God form because he lacks the training goku & vegeta received more like an incomplete transformation given what's known about the red & blue forms. also the name doesn't make sense, SS is a rage form itself, I would've gone for something lame like SS spirit or SS resolution based off of his abilities
Sidenote: When fighter move up in weight class, they're almost always doing so mostly through additional FAT mass, as muscle mass accumulates VERY slowly beyond the beginner stages. That contributes to the slow down phenomenon.

Future Trunks killing off Cell in his timeline is actually not all that impressive when you think about it. Future Trunks killing off Frieza, that was impressive because at that time before the whole Android Saga Frieza was the strongest in the universe so for him to be killed by this random guy was mind blowing when I saw it for the first time as a kid, but with Future Trunks killing off Future Cell, that is not that impressive because in the present timeline the Cell that traveled back in time and achieved his perfect form, he was going around absorbing people in various towns and places to become powerful before meeting back up with Piccolo and Android 17 and Android 18, which he became stronger than all of them apart from Android 16, but the point is that that Cell got more and more powerful by going around and absorbing people, but that was in the present timeline where things were different and it was largely peaceful and there was an abundance of people out in the towns and whatnot, but in Future Trunk's timeline, let's take this into account, because of the attacks of the Androids there were only a few survivors and they were all hiding and living in shelters and things like that, so Future Cell would not have had an abundance of people to absorb so his power would scale up to the Cell in the present timeline, even before he absorbed anyone. That is why I don't see that feat as that impressive because Future Cell had to have been way weaker than the Cell that traveled to the present timeline. Now Future Trunks killing Future Dabura, that is impressive because of Dabura said to be up there with the likes of Perfect Cell, so that just shows how far Future Trunks has gotten. Anyway, that is what I think. Tell me what you all think.
i hope future trunks ll return to the present, it ll be ccol to have two adult trunks in the same timeline, even if they are the same person they lived different lives and can be brothers, but future trunks ll always be the better one
I can just imagine that they make Super Saiyan 4 canon and them making it to where only pure blooded Saiyans are able to use that transformation, and that hybrid Saiyans have way more potential because it is a way to counter the lack of that form so they make up for it in potential and and pure power.
Well, Super Saiyan 4, I know all of that, but I was trying to say that maybe they make it to where pure blooded Saiyans have a form or power that no other half blooded Saiyan or partial Saiyan can achieve, and because of that half blooded Saiyans and partial Saiyans make up for lacking that by having more potential and the ability to have power to match the pure blooded Saiyans in that regard which is why they all have so much potential or something like that.
I feel like you overestimate his power a lot. Especially the Super version. Was he strong? Yes. SSB level? No. Maybe very temporarily, but to say as strong possibly stronger? He was at no point the strongest in that arc among the 3 fighting Zamasu

Vegeta should be stronger, but simply never had much hardship. Goku riding that struggle bus from the get-go. He's been able to level up. On the other hand, Vegeta has just been beating up cans. Sure he trains and gets better but he doesn't get whooped as often as Goku has. If he had, his potential I would say is greater. With that being said, Trunks being of Vegetas blood and struggling like Goku and Gohan. I'd say it justifies his power. And the man lives in a chaotic future timeline, let him have his ass-pull power 😅

So when Zamasu and Goku Black torment/lecture Trunks about his tampering with time for the greater good that caused all his loved ones to die there by technically creating Goku Black/project zero mortal, Trunks would be conflicted with so much regret, sadness, denial, Anger, and Pity that he would then finally snap and stoop low enough to being a sinner (which keep in mind, Trunks is basically the most HEROIC character in the franchise and him now throwing all that away and embracing being a sinner to finally end everyone's suffering by killing Goku Black and Zamasu) Plus if you think about it, Trunks is never usually the one to get pissed during a fight and taunted into desperation for more power but it's a first that it happened in this arc. Remember ever since the end of the Cell Saga, Future HAS NOT BEEN SLACKING ON HIS TRAINING and even stated he trained has "trained himself to death" and all he could get to was SSJ2 when Fighting Dabura and then being able to have SSJ3 levels of power in that form without even transforming into a SSJ3 and Trunks has been stuck at that limit ever since. My thought is that after he used Grade 3 against Vegeta Trunks believed he needed to tap into that power for raw strength since he was desperate for more power to kill Goku Black but needed to overcome the slowness/it's downsides, and plus he did train with the Supreme kai and get somewhat of Godly KI and Trained with Vegeta's SSJ Blue and got a grasp of Divine KI or what it truly is. So in a desperate move Trunks tries going all out in SSJ2 and tries to combine the little sensation of the god ki he encountered/adapted to with his training with both Supreme Kai and Vegeta and also combine the raw power of Grade 3 + the pure sorrow and rage he felt after Goku Black and Zamasu was s*** talking to him saying he's a sinner and that everything that happened was his fault which trunks somewhat found kinda true. All that then accumulated into SSJ Rage (it makes sense that grade 3 was combined since when he 1st went grade 3 he super pissed of-like rage, had white pupils-like rage, later gained pupils back and had some control over himself-like rage, had some of the most spikiest hair ever-like rage, and got buff for a bit-JUST LIKE RAGE!, Rage also got buff for like 2 second before reverting to a slightly more buffed state/physique than his base/original body type and shape). The Spirit Bomb Sword though is a little tough but I think that when Trunks got his sword broke by Merged Zamasu and when he used ki to make a new, stronger, and ki enhanced sword that glows I think he accidentally unknowingly absorbed some of the ki from the people surronding him which later on with their ki still connected/absorbed in trunks sword they gave more of their ki to trunks with HOPEFUL spirits poured into their ki Trunks then took the extra ki that everyone gave (since their ki was already in the sword from ealier when trunks used ki around him to forge a new one) and made a SIMILAR move like the spirit bomb and absorbed that spirit bomb-like power into himself (like what Goku did in the Super Android 13 movie) and got a huge buff, plus maybe the whole ki absorbing thing could be a SSJ Rage exclusive technique like SSJ God can heal wounds automatically for example?
Anyways this was MY and probably the most logical explanation for SSJ Trunks and the Spirit Bomb Sword, I pray this makes sense to you all.

I feel an argument could be made to say Trunks has more potential than Gohan.
Trunks comes from a saiyan elite, which are considered to be naturally gifted and powerful warriors. Just based on class, with (seemingly) little training, Vegeta was far above Raditz.
Trunks could carry some of that Elite blood, which is why he is able to get such powerful jumps in strength

I know this video is about Trunks, but ever since the Broly movie, I have theorized that Gohan is a mutant; like Broly is.
Trunks has a lot of potential, but he’s the only one amongst the main cast who’s been highlighted a lot is Gohan. It would explain how he’s able to power up super fast with minimal training.

I honestly think that the trunks’ super saiyan rage form and Gohan’s beast form are products of them being hybrid saiyans. Them getting those forms make sense to me. Both forms are very similar to super saiyan 2. They both have dual color in their auras. And they are both activated by rage. I personally think that trunks’ super saiyan rage form is a lesser version of Gohan beast’s form. And that potentially he could tap in to it also.

Send goku and vegeta on multiverse missions. Send piccolo and gohan throughout the universe. Give goten and trunks earth and some universe missions. Focus more on goten and trunks while giving us flashes of the other ones in their missions. Make the threats to big for anyone to help anyone else allowing goten and trunks to grow. Have them grow without fusion
Not to be disrespectful but toriyama pretty much abandoned both goten and trunks. Even future trunks got played in his own arc in super. but now that its in different hands i could only hope that they can finally explore the characters that was pushed to the side.

super saiyan rage is basically the divine blue power mixed with ascended saiyan not muscle one. and you can say it just false super saiyan blue. but it can push further more power without any limitations. which means it's final form of future trunks.

Best theory I can think of
Every hybrid sayian has the same potenial as gohan. His beast form isnt special to HIM its special to the hybrid of human/sayian DNA.
Saiyan hybrids not matter who has greater potential than pureblood saiyans yes. They have the enhanced strenghts and capabilities of saiyans but humanity and emotions from their human side that allows them to tap into great power and deeper potential (aka Super Saiyan) more quicky that normal saiyans. Gohan obiously is the greatest but more known example of that, but that doesn't mean another hybrid like F Trunks can't have the same capabilities; he has that limitless potential too.
It does make sense that Future Trunks has the potential since he's a Saiyan Human Hybrid and his dedication to training since he grew up in a timeline that's been ravage by the Androids.
According to Toriyama depending on your environment is also crucial to your potential bad environments bad potential or will stunt your growth that's how s cells work
One thing I would have to say is that Chichi is the ox Demon Kings daughter and bulma is just a smart scientist daughter. So gohan has demon blood in him also…… he should be way stronger than trunks being half human.

Future Trunks was never my favorite character, I didn't really like him, at least not as much as the other characters, and I don't really like the character because of how he just brought in, and he is never used again. If you are never going to use him again, please just kill him off. In the Goku Black Arc, when Future Trunks and Future Mai went to another timeline, I was upset and disappointed because I wanted Future Trunks to stay. Like, what if he was in the Tournament of Power? If they are never going to use him again, I just want them to kill him off.
But if Vegeta could have achieved Grade 3, wouldn't that have been powerful enough to wipe out Cell with just the final flash? Would Cell still have been able to dodge it and not get hit head on like he did?

I think trunk's SS rage form can be explained by saying it's his god KI leaking out since he trained with supreme kai & battled goku, vegeta, black & zamasu who all have that KI. it's not a God form because he lacks the training goku & vegeta received more like an incomplete transformation given what's known about the red & blue forms. also the name doesn't make sense, SS is a rage form itself, I would've gone for something lame like SS spirit or SS resolution based off of his abilities
Sidenote: When fighter move up in weight class, they're almost always doing so mostly through additional FAT mass, as muscle mass accumulates VERY slowly beyond the beginner stages. That contributes to the slow down phenomenon.

Future Trunks killing off Cell in his timeline is actually not all that impressive when you think about it. Future Trunks killing off Frieza, that was impressive because at that time before the whole Android Saga Frieza was the strongest in the universe so for him to be killed by this random guy was mind blowing when I saw it for the first time as a kid, but with Future Trunks killing off Future Cell, that is not that impressive because in the present timeline the Cell that traveled back in time and achieved his perfect form, he was going around absorbing people in various towns and places to become powerful before meeting back up with Piccolo and Android 17 and Android 18, which he became stronger than all of them apart from Android 16, but the point is that that Cell got more and more powerful by going around and absorbing people, but that was in the present timeline where things were different and it was largely peaceful and there was an abundance of people out in the towns and whatnot, but in Future Trunk's timeline, let's take this into account, because of the attacks of the Androids there were only a few survivors and they were all hiding and living in shelters and things like that, so Future Cell would not have had an abundance of people to absorb so his power would scale up to the Cell in the present timeline, even before he absorbed anyone. That is why I don't see that feat as that impressive because Future Cell had to have been way weaker than the Cell that traveled to the present timeline.
Now Future Trunks killing Future Dabura, that is impressive because of Dabura said to be up there with the likes of Perfect Cell, so that just shows how far Future Trunks has gotten.

I can just imagine that they make Super Saiyan 4 canon and them making it to where only pure blooded Saiyans are able to use that transformation, and that hybrid Saiyans have way more potential because it is a way to counter the lack of that form so they make up for it in potential and and pure power.

Well, Super Saiyan 4, I know all of that, but I was trying to say that maybe they make it to where pure blooded Saiyans have a form or power that no other half blooded Saiyan or partial Saiyan can achieve, and because of that half blooded Saiyans and partial Saiyans make up for lacking that by having more potential and the ability to have power to match the pure blooded Saiyans in that regard which is why they all have so much potential or something like that.

Vegeta should be stronger, but simply never had much hardship.
Goku riding that struggle bus from the get-go. He's been able to level up.
On the other hand, Vegeta has just been beating up cans. Sure he trains and gets better but he doesn't get whooped as often as Goku has. If he had, his potential I would say is greater.
With that being said, Trunks being of Vegetas blood and struggling like Goku and Gohan. I'd say it justifies his power. And the man lives in a chaotic future timeline, let him have his ass-pull power 😅
