My favorite. Drove one, realized I do not fit, plain and simple... Even the pedal box is for ballerinas ! A friend of mine who has one said when he needs part he doesn't go to O'reilly, he goes to Home depot ;-)

Once you get inside, it's quite comfortable. Well, compared to a few other cars I have. Surprisingly there is ample room inside, even if it's difficult to "spoon" in.

Sweet car, but looking at what would annoy me is the spacing of the ALPINE letters at the front, PLS fix.
the 1300G was the base model.

i know this comment comes in quite late, but i think the reason why yours seems so different is.... well because it is. they were built in a couple of different places, and each had different engines available, and often these different engines shared little if not nothing (not only differing from cars built in other plants, but also the models across the range... chaotic). yours i think is a FASA Renault Alpine, which was built in Spain. cars from spain are usually bought by other europeans as the have little rust, and i think this is what happened to this swiss registered car, as it happened with many other fasa alpines. they were widely raced in national rally championships in spain, and thus have legendary status as are vet recognised here in spain. hope this helped!

oh by the way, as a fellow porsche enthusiast i think you must know this story: in the seventies in spain, a renowned driver and rally racer (named estanislao reverter) who had driven many porsches (difficult cars to get ahold of in the dictatorship era spain) well he loved the lightness of the alpine, and the power of the 911, and probably both cars´ rear enginedness. another rally racer friend of his (whose name i cant remember) who also loved porsches, crashed and destroyed his 911R (yeah, that 911R) and so estanislao bought the 2.0 901/22 engine, and put it in the alpine, creating the mighty alpinche. i shit you not there is a statue of this car with estanislao beside it in his home town in galicia. many other components from the R were installed, i was fortunate enough to meet his son who recently restored it and told me many of the stories. the car sat for many years after its tumultuous rally carreer, being crashed a couple times (mostly by driver beny fernandez who famously also drove porsches) and creating the myth that only estanislao could tame the beast he created, as he was unstoppable when he drove it, and everybody else woyld crash when driving it.
      hope you liked this story!

I am fairly sure the ALPINE letters on the nose are not positioned properly - too big a gap there.

That is interesting - I hadn't noticed that before. I did look at some other cars after you posted this comment, and they do look differently. It makes me wonder if there was something mounted up front originally on this car. There doesn't appear to be any other mounting holes or anything odd like that? As I mentioned in the video, it seems like nearly every one of these cars is slightly different in some way - no two appear to be alike. This is a perfect example of that!

Grease under the fingernails you take a bar of soap, scratch the soap under your fingernails before you work on the car. Soap keeps the grease out. You can wear gloves too, but that is sort of a pain
Sweet little car, maybe a removable steering wheel. Dude, how many 914s do you have?

Yup, gloves don't really give you the right feel...
