I’m glad we have our free NHS..
However, Sadly my experience with my local hospital in the U.K. has been largely negative. Everything from being misdiagnosed for a hip dislocation, sent home in an unclean state, to being told to shut up for daring to join in a conversation two nurses were having over my head (about their holiday plans) being called a fat elephant. Hearing night staff telling an dementia patient to shut the fuck up for asking once to be taken for a wee!
I promise I’m not difficult, rude to staff or combative. I’m just a normal person. I made complaints each bad experience but nothing changes. Not in the long run. If you’ve any sense you’ll stay away from Lincoln county hospital. It’s a dump

I'm a Brit living in the USA. The NHS has made some incredible transformations. I remember when it was rare to meet a doctor or nurse like this. They were all so stern and more interested in following antiquated rules than compassion and caring. So glad to see the younger generations putting patients lives first. If I return to the UK I want to live somewhere like this where I'll get compassionate health care. Sad that Glynn passed away. Can blame those damned cigarettes for his cancer.

    • @helencheadle5285

I hate cigarettes and smoking with a passion Teresa…to think way back when, say the 40’s they used to prescribe them to asthma patients to help their breathing…can you believe that! I’m an only child and when I was 32 I lost my mother to emphysema when she was 63 and had always smoked, a year later my father followed with lung cancer, also a smoker . I have never smoked but developed severe respiratory problems inc collapsed lung, and have been diagnosed with COPD from passive smoking for 40 hrs! My ex husband smoked too…so I feel angry about that, and have always begged my 3 sons not to smoke because of all these things, but young ones think they will be fine. My middle son and partner had a little boy, and when he was 18 months, Andrew developed awful back and hip pain.he had blood tests, and was rushed to hospital where they found he had aggressive cancer in right lung, hip and thigh, sternum and spine. In seven weeks from diagnosis he passed away aged just 39 and it’s broken my heart …he apologised for ignoring me bless him, but no parent should have to lose a child, especially thru smoking, it’s taken the ones I loved, hence my hating with a passion. It was sepsis in the end, hidden behind the tumour in his lung, and they couldn’t do anything.
Andrew abd partner did marry in hospital, and he made a will…so I’m very proud he tried to take care of his little family, but doubly sad he won’t see his little son grow , and like wise Robin hasn’t got a daddy. So all you smokers who read this, DONT THINK it could never happen to you. It’s just not worth the risk, so please DONT SMOKE! …..Best wishes from Norfolk U.K. Teresa. 🙋‍♀️💐💕

@@helencheadle5285 I have lost most of my family to cancers from smoking. I never married due to severe depressions I have been plagued with my whole life. My mom is in her late 70s and won't be here much longer which will mean I will have no family left. I will be all alone and I think life will be too unbearable to live like that when I lose my mom. How can anyone want to continue to live with absolutely no family members left? I quit smoking in 2008 when my dad died from lung cancer but I smoke for 20 yrs before that and so the damage has already been done in my body which is what people don't understand.
Ciggies are contaminated with poison's and radioactive isotopes and so the cancers show up decades later after you smoked. Smokers get the highest doses of radiation than anyone else in their jobs and much higher doses than airline pilots who got cancers on their arms from the intense sunlight.
I have come close to death from two illnesses and the NHS saved my life on both of those occasions and one of them was only a few months ago when I collapsed at work from severe and profound anemia with a blood score for hemoglobin of 51 which I should of died in my sleep. I just got tested again and I am again anemic so I have to have a CT scan of my bowel to find out where I'm losing blood from. I am so thankful to the NHS and I give money to them whenever I can afford it along with the Dogs Trust. Peace to you all:)

Thank you to all the men and women who work in our amazing NHS. A few months ago for the first time in my life I was seriously ill, I didn't realise how ill until much later after the first symptoms. I don't think there are any words I could use to convey my thanks to such incredible people. From the paramedics, A&E staff, intensive care staff, respiratory ward staff, support staff, so many people who make up the NHS. All of whom nothing was too much trouble. From sitting holding my hand, reassuring me through the night, keeping me informed on what was happening, I really did want for nothing, even when I started getting better on my feet, the brews, biscuits. From the bottom of my heart, thank you xxx

Yes I agree totally! I broke my ankle recently and had to be taken to a hospital by ambulances, stayed there several days, had surgery, and came home two days after. Everything was a first-time experience for me. Not until we (or our relatives) get ill that we realise there are unsung heroes doing incredible jobs every second of the day taking care of us. These people essentially give me the hope to have a normal life again.

I went to this hospital once when I was staying in the uk. I got injured whilst playing with my sisters, I had to have stitches in my head and had to stay for a night, I have nothing but compliments for them. I was only 16, but i remember it clearly, or as much as I could with the concussion lol. But everyone was so kind and considerate. I remember asking some of the cleaning staff if they could help me clean the blood off my shoe, and they did it no hesitation with nothing but compliments. Complete respects to the staff.

Environmental Services (cleaning crew) is just as important as the surgeons, doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, CNA’s, radiology techs and so on. They can’t go forward with surgeries or treating patients without the cleaning crews. I’ve worked in the hospitals as an RT and I’ve been a patient many times with some long hospital stays. During my last admission one lady from Environmental Services was cleaning my room and I was still in rough shape due to double septic pneumonia and my hair was soaking wet from sweat. She complimented on my hair and put it up for me. I have never forgotten that kind gesture. A CNA a couple of days later washed my hair and put it in a nice bun.

Dr Venmark is a legend. Wish all doctors could be like him. Going through palliative care for my mum right now, so I know how it is and having compassionate medical staff really makes a difference - both for the patient and the family (who need just as much support). It can be quite isolating and having kind people around really does help.

That would never happen in the town I live in here in America. The patients are lucky to have someone so seemingly caring.
