    I was an X-ray tech in an ER and OR for 26 years and saw a lot of sad things but also some miracles. Unfortunately, when my husband was admitted to the hospital twice in 3 months I knew the end was near. 2 months later shuffled into the living room, held his chest and said "I'm dying." I knew it was true and asked if he wanted to go to the hospital again and he said no, he wanted to die in his own bed without tubes and wires and all. Three days later he passed away just as he had wished. His face was so peaceful and I will always remember that. It was only 7 months ago and it still hurts every day, but I am grateful that his wishes were granted and I was there with him at the end.

    I sympathize with the lady who is just finished with pain.
    Since this opioid paranoia started, those of us in pain are left hurting, and being labeled "drug-seeking."
    No one cares, no one can do anything about it.
    The largest pain specialist clinic in the entire region has let all their medical doctors go, and hired all psychiatrists and psychologists. They have a disclaimer on their website that says, "This clinic does not prescribe pain medication, and does not perform procedures."
    It's ridiculous.

    • @elainelessack
      @elainelessack ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @NotLukewarm-mt2xy: I completely agree with your words. So very many of us suffer legitimate chronic and extreme pain and have to beg for less than adequate treatment from spineless physicians. Meanwhile, addicts receive any amount of desired pain medication. This is the state of our sad world today!
      My first reply to you was removed by the powers that be at TH-cam. Apparently a person with factual information is not free to comment as she wishes, yet nasty, vile people can say what they wish without censor!

      @NotLukewarm-mt2xy ปีที่แล้ว

      @@elainelessack I used to believe the way you do about methadone clinics. But I understand and agree with what they're doing.
      By the time someone has an addiction, it's no longer a voluntary thing. The actual brain structure has changed, and the compulsion to use is as strong or stronger than your compulsion to drink water when you're thirsty. With the methadone, they are able to be safe, with little danger of O.D., and since it's prescribed, they can get a job, they don't have to steal, and they don't get enough to get high, just enough to fill their brain into thinking it got what it wanted.
      As they get back with their family, find a place to live, etc., They find they need less and less of the methadone.
      So I get that. I just don't get refusing to treat pain

      I’m curious where you are, if I may ask? I’m in Georgia, in the States, and have several chronic illnesses and autoimmune illnesses that are quite painful. I have found some wonderful docs here that do prescribe necessary meds and do many pain relieving procedures. I did have to do a lot of tests, X-rays, etc to prove the validity of my problems, but I had already had those done before my first visit for diagnostic reasons. If you’re anywhere near me, I’ll be happy to share the info. Best of luck to you in finding help and relief 🤍

      @@DiZoSoMom I'm in Western NC.
      Our largest pain clinic has recently fired/gotten rid of every M.D. and hired all psychiatrists. They proclaim in their site that they do not write prescriptions and do not perform medical procedures at all.
      70% of local chronic pain patients now either must sign contracts to never accept or use pain meds without the clinic's written permission, or be dismissed, with a 8-12 month waiting list for any other pain doctor in 100 -mile radius.
      I despise hot, humid weather, but if GA doctors aren't afraid of treating patients, I might move there.
      It took us 5 months to find a gp who would even accept my late husband as a new patient unless he ceased all pain meds and signed an agreement to never go back in them.

      what i found upsetting and very very true, is the focus on her weight. just because a person is overweight, that isn't the be all end all of their illness....how many people lose weight and still suffer, but it they had dealt with the issue then, it would be better, than waiting for a person to lose weight and still have the issues.

    Lynn is absolutely right! You are treated like a nothing when you're fat. I did the gastric bypass also and while the pain I have is different that what Lynn is experiencing - I still have the pain. Losing weight didn't change that in the least. I wish people - especially those in the medical field - would acknowledge that losing weight isn't going to fix everything for a person.

    At the the end one of the “sisters” and a patient’s wife speak of never taking anything for granted and the wife mentions getting up to make his breakfast sometimes. I became disabled 8 years ago. I was a nurse and am a mother of 6 grown children and a wife to a wonderful man. Getting up with him every morning has been the only thing that has stayed the same since my body started shutting down. I now make him breakfast every single day regardless of how I’m feeling for many reasons but the main two are #1- just to give back a little of what he does for me every single day both physically and mentally and the 2nd is just not knowing when the last time seeing each other will truly be the last time on this earth. He deserves the world and I try to do as much as I possibly can to spoil him. He spoils me every single day and I only wish I could physically do more to spoil him. He works so hard and then comes home and works more. I can make most meals from my chair and do small batches of dishes while also in my chair so I try the hardest I possibly can. I can see how much my effort means to him and that makes me feel complete inside ❤️❤️❤️

    I was sent to an ER from an urgent care center. I needed medical care....SOON. But as I laid there, I watched a horrible parade of some of the worst injuries I've ever seen. I also noted that the patient's VOLUME was not necessarily commensurate with their issue. I had an intestinal blockage for five days, but I saw a leg dangling precariously from the edge of a trolly. I saw one man with "unidentified pain" scream for narcotics while a small child with a mangled arm was rushed past him in total silence. I brought yarn, and tore out the project four times. A nurse asked me why I bought it. I told her I wasn't actually making anything, but I was trying to distract myself; as I was fully aware other people needed their attention immediately. The same nurse looked at my chart and gave me a bit of morphine. Mr. Screamy continued to scream. She leaned close and told me he was a "frequent flier" and apologized that I had to hear it. I felt so bad for them....the nurses and doctors, I mean. I am utterly amazed that they can do this, day in and day out, staying calm and patient for long shifts. My hat is off to them all. Oh, i ended up in the hospital for two more days; and two months on gatoraide only...but I came out of it fine. Bless you all!

    Total respect to the A& E teams dealing with emergencies, goes without saying, especially those horrendous working hours conditions junior doctors have to perform under. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people sitting in A & E with complaints that could be sorted by their GP …if they could get an appointment …and then there’s the young num, clutching reluctant toddler, booking in with” he won’t take his Calpol” 🙄.
    My own recent experience could have been avoided too. GP nurse insisted strongly I’d go to A & E a.s.a.p to get a immuno globelin injection for a wound, which they should have had in-house. I thought,okay a quick in an and out. Not so. Sat there altogether for 4 hours, shuffled from one waiting room to another, ended up in small injuries unit where senior doctors looked at my little wound , said, I didn’t need that all, just hooked me up to an antibiotics drip, took blood tests ( 45 mins waiting for results) and prescribed a course of antibiotics, which I picked up at the hospital outpatients pharmacy . I feel everyone’s time was wasted, but of course I didn’t know, just followed the nurse’s strong advice.

    Just a general comment about the ER in my city. I live in Ontario Canada. My city has a pop of close to 900,000 people & 1 hospital. We have had a gp shortage for over 20 years, back when the pop was 150,000. The few that came here then just replaced those that retired, so it takes 3 weeks to see your dr..people have no choice but to go to the ER. I was there in May & the wait time was 12 hours with only ONE dr staffing the ER!! ..we have construction going everywhere & no new gps coming..you will be lucky to be seen in ER in 24 hours.

    I am fat if that what they call us. I had seizure fell off a pool ladder, thank goodness outward since was home alone. Well, my leg went behind me tore my ACL and meniscus. The doctor said to lose weight will be ok. I was 254 and went down to 171. Well, that was BS it hurt 10 times more ( I feel like I lost all the cushion around it). So, I ended up with a whole dang knee replacement that went wrong. Now, the leg is swollen all the time 3 years later. The doctor that i see about my knee now said that losing weight would do nothing to help it get better. If i wasn't fat, they would have done the replacement years ago. I shouldn't have lived in pain all those years, and now i use a walker. I am in constant pain and have nerve damage from the surgery, so it is painful all the time.
