I had the distinct pleasure of watching this on Japanese television when I visited Tokyo about 4 years ago, and even without understanding much of the dialogue, this was such a bad ass scene.
I love this scene, but I prefer the Manga interpretation where instead of just passing out, he’d gotten so freaked out he was foaming at the mouth beforehand 😆

Tomau has bad luck,but let’s not ignore the fact that he manage to survive much of his fights because of having really good luck.But still for a person with no actual abilities(specifically when fighting espers) he does pretty well,and succeeds is staying conscious by the end of the fight.)
