    I know this is an old video but this is great content for Dredging advocacy. I've seen countless people say dredging is harnful to the environment. That is millions of miles from the truth. Keep up the great content and keep hiting home the point of the benefits of dredging and prospecting in general. There are forces out there that would like nothing more than to take our rights to enjoy our hobbies and passions of Gold prospecting. Thank you Brian for what you do. Im saving up for my own 4 inch dredge and hoping do buy it with the gold i recover from prospecting and paydirt. I have Diabetes and severe neuropathy in my legs and feet, so dredging will have a little less impact on my legs than sluicing does. Have a great day Brian.

      I don't know about that "water detection" machines, but I have been in the mineral and water detection business for about 30 years now and so far I have tested a lot of machines, only to find they did not work and the money spent went down the drain. My water Dowsing is a hundred% accurate and I do it from a photograph off of Google earth images. Of course I find other things also, like precious-metals, graves, crude-oil. I can scan five to ten square miles from a Google Earth image in about a day and mark the water or mineral locations, large and small. I also discriminate the type of element, for example I can tell any one of the six platinum group metals apart from one another. And I can detect all of the stable elements on the chart of elements. I have done over 300 blind tests to this affect. I am not at all limited on depth detection. I did an oil deposit that was 6800 feet deep. Many of my blind teste were private people giving me permission to scan their houses and marking where their values were.

    Why does the heavy material stay behind the riffles? As the water goes over the riffles, a vortex is created. Like a wave breaking on the beach. You can actually see material moving upstream against the water flow. Also called a hydraulic jump. It's important that someone monitors the box. Large rocks can get stuck in the sluice box. That can affect the flow and wash particles of gold out. You have to be careful not to feed the suction hose to fast. Rocks can get lodged in the hose and stop the suction. It can be time consuming dislodging rocks from the hose.

    Thanks for the really nice video and it's a lot of fun
    I wanted to know which angle should sluice box be positioned while dradging ?
    I seen in some videos it look like horizontal and then in some video it look like on 45 degree angle 🤔
    My second question again on the angle - is there different in sluice box angles when dradging vs sluice box that you put material with shovel 🤔
    I would appreciate your email address to contact you And if I get some experience with you guys while prospecting
    I live in London Borough regularly visiting USA. my family live there

    Pretty good show, however the guys in the dredging scenes really needed weight belts. It is much more enjoyable and takes much less energy to lay down near the bottom and dredge than to expend so much energy trying to stay under water. Once you get past about 3 ft. depth you need a weight belt or vest. Also the best technique is to have one man on the nozzle and another as the the "rock man" who simply moves larger rocks into your previously dredged hole behind you.

  • @jayllin13

    I really wish the state of California would lift the ban on dredging, these hippies think its hurting the fish not helping them....I had buddies of mine that were getting 100-200 ounces every season from some of the creeks and rivers over here, not to mention all the vials worth of mercury they were getting out of the creek that was left over from the gold rush in the 1800's!

    • @AmericanGoldProspectors
      @AmericanGoldProspectors  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That really sucks for the ban in cali. I really wanted to dredge there someday. They tried it here in NH last year but we fought in the courthouse and won believe or not.

      It's the oil and gasoline that is the real problem. One spilled drop of gasoline can affect 1/4 mile of stream. And it ain't the "hippies". It's people from the city and their politicians. Why should a small minority, with their noise and fumes, dominate recreational areas? It's not like they cultivated the good will of the general public. Confronting recreational panners, hogging campsites. That left them with no public support. I'm a recreational miner in California and I have no sympathy for them. I'd love the moratorium to end! Then my 40 acre placer claim on Indian creek in Plumas county would be worth twice what I paid for it.

    How is it that the Department of Fish and Game are not flipping out on you for tearing up fish habitat and spawning grounds.
    I've had wardens approach me while I was knee deep in water just turning rocks over, looking for a lost fishing lure.
    So, how are they not stroking out over this activity???
    I would love to go do this...but I can't imagine getting away with this in Maine or New Hampshire for more than a minute without some sort of Fish and Game violation.

    • @AmericanGoldProspectors
      @AmericanGoldProspectors  7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      There are some rivers that are closed to all activities and the rest are open to all people to pursue there hobbies not just fisherman. It is completely legal to dredge with a dredging permit on a non restricted river or stream. As with anything just follow the rules.
      Rules for NH are here: des.nh.gov/organization/commissioner/pip/forms/wetlands/documents/recr_mineral_dredging_app.pdf

      Dredging if done any where near right does not hurt fishing or habitat. Dredging actually cleans the river. It removes gold AND lead, Mercury anything else heavy sitting on the bottom. It also cleans silt on the bottom. Fish prefer fine clean gravel bottom not silt.
