  • "What Happened Here in the Summer of 1940?" is a series of six short videos of readings adapted from my forthcoming book Stumbling over History: Disability and the Holocaust, supplemented by personal and historical photographs from my visits to the six Aktion T4 killing sites, where disabled people were mass murdered during the Third Reich.
"Bernburg: Family Trees" is the second video in the series, in which we meet Ute Hoffmann, director of the Bernburg memorial site, who talks about the site's history, and tells us why there was a tile floor leading from the gas chamber to the crematorium.
